James Sheldon Enterprise

The bad news is, I’ve used James’ services five times. The good news is, he did show up on three occasions. Before I go into any further detail, it has never been my style nor my intention to denigrate a person or business for no reason or out of sheer bitter spite (actually, that’s James’ M.O.). So I have actually attached screenshots of our text conversation to show what a great businessman and humanitarian he is (you can see the 410−929−9266 number is his direct line as well).
The first two times I used James Sheldon Enterprise, he gave me a very good price and did what he was supposed to. The third time should have been a red flag, because he bailed last minute citing an «emergency.» After having to work overtime to track him down for an hour, he finally sent a «B» crew out much later that evening. The crew did their job, but James had failed. Still, everyone makes mistakes, and so I gave him another chance, and he came through. Then came today (yes, today, so the wound is still fresh).
Knowing James to be a flight risk already, I confirmed with his assistant Stephanie a full week before. Then true to form, I (the customer) confirmed the day before with his assistant, who assured me the move was still on for the next morning. James wanted a little more for this move — $ 100 — so I gladly obliged as that still tops most companies, telling both James and Stephanie that would be no problem. So what a pleasant surprise when I awoke on moving day to see a text (which you can also see for yourself) telling me — what else? — he had to cancel due to another «emergency.»
His responses are classic (again, see photos attached). He verbally assailed me for being rude to his «assistance» (not assistant, «assistance») and told me he had been doing me a huge favor in the past with his prices. He was upset that, given his previous no-​show, I told him I’d gladly oblige provided he showed when he said he would. Obviously, this did not sit well with him, so he basically told me to f*** off so that he could take care of a «real paying customer.»
So in summary, A) Make sure that you know exactly what James is thinking so that he doesn’t wait until the day of your move to tell you, and B) By all means, call him for a move if you’re comfortable with only a 60% chance that he will show. As Mr. Sheldon himself pointed out, apparently, you get what you paid for.
P. S. Even though this is a review for the dreadful James Sheldon Experience, a special shout-​out to 1−800-Got-Junk for showing up on time and completing the task swiftly and effectively. Imagine that, they know how to run a business and deal with people…

I have moved 3 times over the past 3 years. This time, I decided to use a moving company for my big items. I set up the move with James Sheldon online a month prior. I was referred to him by my friend who moved in October.
Started off fine. James was accommodating when my closing date was pushed back. He arrived on time, although be has an issue finding the apartment.
The actually move 4.5 stars. I missed my tv and patio set orignally so James provided a slightly higher fee and they started. James and his «helper» worked hard in 90+ degree weather to move me from my 3 floor apartment to a house. I felt bad so I went and got them large bottles of water. After a few hours, the truck was packed to go.
I noticed they missed two items so I assumed (bad) that they would come back. After they we almost finished unloading the truck, I mentioned the 2 items. He didn’t realized he left them. He had another move so he told me he would come back and get them that day. I missed his phone calls so he then said he would get it in the evening. I guess his phone died because I didn’t hear from him.
The next day, I went to work and waited for his call. No call. I eventually spoke to him around 6pm or 7pm. I waited and waited. He and his helper arrived at around 9:30p.
After unloading the 2 items, they were leaving. I said «What about my bed?» He said we normally don’t put together beds. I said that is what we agreed to in the email. After going back and forth for a short time, he told me he would put my bed together enough for me to tighten up once I get my tools. Fine. I was annoyed but whatever. Its 10p now and i have to sleep. During the process he asked for my knife to put my bed together. He finished and left.
This is where my issue comes in. The next day, some woman calls me to tell me what they don’t do and it was a courtesy that he put together my bed. I’m like, it was in the email. She told me they didn’t have record of it. After hanging up, I’m pissed! I wasn’t going to complain about him making me wait or not calling about my items that we were left or putting my bed together with my knife, but now I’m mad. What company calls a customer after the fact to say what you don’t do. I called James. He said the same thing. Eventually i agreed to showing proof that we agreed the company would put together my bed and that it was apart of the fees. I text him screenshots. Right after I pressed send, he text that he found the email and apologized. Then 25 minutes later he sends another unnecessary response. Juvenile. He made me feel like they did me a grand favor instead of acknowledging that I paid on time, paid more, and paid in cash. I did not feel like my business was appreciated and I’m a good customer. The woman can call me to tell me off but not call to apologize.
I can’t recommend this company. If you do have service, print out your email and make sure they get everything the first time. They need some serious customer service training and organizational revamp.

The pre service and during service experience was good.
The post service claim settlement was unsatisfactory.
Will not repeat or recommend.
