Really disappointed in the outcome. My new 3000 water heater had a leak from half ass soldering and my master bathroom sink stopped working shortly after installation. The response to get someone back in was quick but then I was told a $ 400 that was suppose to be installed wasn’t. Plus the valve in the master bedroom sink was «broke» costing another 362. My sink still isn’t working…

I’ve attempted to use Ross three times. I have been successful once. So for me they are certainly on the back burner of service providers. This means I would not call them unless they were the only possibility to get some emergency work done. On my rating scale this is one step above being «dead to me».
The work they do seems good enough. On the first call they put in a new gas line for my grill freeing me from the dreaded Propane exchange hassle. Their estimate for the work was 30% less than Ray the Plumber and they could make the required timeline. Sold. I was a little miffed when I asked the technician who was at the house how long it would take, to see if I had time to run an errand. Unfortunately he was done in half the time so I was mid errand and had to rush back to the house.
I thought my second call to them would be a no-​brainer. So easy I thought it would be, that I just told my wife to call them while I was away and have them do two tasks that had gone undone for too long. Install a new kitchen faucet. We had the faucet for over a year and I hadn’t found time to do the install. And replace a sink tailpiece that years of vibration had finally cracked. Well when they arrived and told my wife the cost of those two tasks (over $ 700) she called me immediately. After going back and forth with the technician trying to figure out how they thought a few hours labor and a $ 20 in parts were worth that much, we sent him on his way. Only after paying the «Consultation fee».
The third attempt was sicx months later due to a failed water heater. Again they showed up and made sure we signed to acknowledge that the «consultation fee» was due the moment the estimator walked in the house. We agreed and without actually examining the water heater told us we needed a new once since it was 15 years old. When I asked him what diagnosis have you done that establishes that we need a new one versus needing a minor repair. He advised me that the consultation fee did not cover diagnosis and that was not his job. Then to top it off he offered to install anyone of three brands of water heaters they carry (depending what was in stock) for a mere 3X the price the water heater was being offered at from Home Depot and Lowe’s. Let me make this clear. Their offer was to sell and install a water heater that I could buy myself for about $ 600 for a total of $ 1800. Additionally they offered to install a water heater drain pan (under $ 25 at Home depot) for $ 415 dollars.
I think the word you are looking for is Chutzpah. After attempting to negotiate the price, and the rep countering with a $ 90 discount (of which 75 was based on an on-​line coupon). I paid the consultation fee once again and sent him on his way.
Soooo, some future disaster notwithstanding my path and N.H. Ross will not cross again.

Awesome experience. I called based on previous Unilocal reviews. The sent a technician to my house 20 minutes later. This was not an emergency. Jimmy was awesome. He was professional, very courteous and explained everything. Pricing was fair and I’d highly recommend!

Marc provided exceptionally professional services during a job that was more difficult than anyone could have anticipated. I was especially thankful as Marc was extremely communicative and kind to my mother. She can be an exceptionally difficult customer. The service Pro from NH ROSS, (Shawn E) came within the time window. He was friendly and very professional. Got right in and found the electrical breaker that was causing all kinds of problems. He swapped it out, put in a new breaker and was in and out in no time.

Due to good history with NH Ross, we chose them for our oil-​to-​gas conversion and glad we did. The owner was involved from day 1, and remained our go-​to guy for any questions or issues throughout the process. Not only that, it is obvious the owners treat their employees very well because every NH Ross employee who stepped foot in our house (& that was a lot since we had a LOT done, with many extra add ons) was totally courteous and thorough.
I will recommend NH Ross for any plumbing or heating job, and will call them for any of our service needs.

Wow! Do not use!!! I scheduled an appointment for service four days in advance and took the day off of work. I waited until 2:30pm and finally received a call from Bob who proceeded to tell me they would not be able to come. He offered to schedule me for the following week. Nice of him but I had already taken the day off of work.
How hard is it to keep an appointment? Didn’t offer a Saturday or evening or anything. And these guys are supposed to offer emergency service as well.
DO NOT USE IF YOU ACTUALLY NEED A PLUMBER.

Chosing NH Ross to do our oil to gas conversion was the best decision. They are a knowledgeable and professional organization. From Vincent who gave us our estimate and went over all our options, Amy who handled all the scheduling with Town permits and National Grid gas, to the excellent installers, Tom, Charles and James. At first it didn’t look like it wasn’t going to run smooth, gas company was late installing gas line to house and bullet got stuck under ground. Amy and the office was on top of everything, making sure every inspection and equipment was on schedule. Tom, Charles and James worked 3 full days, removing, preparing, installing and testing system. We liked that the office would call and send an email when a technician was on their way. They also explained the process at each stage and answer any questions. What a difference, we now have a high efficient gas heating and hot water system that’s a work of art. We will not hesitate to call them again in the future if needed.

There are numerous review with positive experiences related to NH Ross, but this will not be one of them. I was referred to this company by a former employee, who had nothing but positive things to say. Of course, this gave me a comfort level before the technician even arrived.
I was having issues with the toilet in my basement; we couldn’t use it or even turn on the water because it would not stop running. Getting the appointment was easy enough and I had no issue with the $ 75 appointment fee. I was at work when the appointment was to occur, so my wife, who is 9 months pregnant, and my 3 year old were home.
Ultimately, my wife was told that there was a broken «valve». It would be $ 375 to fix (which was lowered to $ 350 after the technician spoke with his boss). If the toilet couldn’t be fixed, it would cost $ 885 to replace. She was told that it was so expensive because we have a dual flush toilet. As that did not sound reasonable, she paid the appointment fee and told them she would discuss the quote with me.
When I arrived home, I began to research the cost of the toilet to replace, and to seek a second opinion. I discovered that the identical toilet is for sale a Home Depot for $ 98.00!!! Thereafter, I had another plumber check out the toilet, and in 20 minutes, he had evaluated the issue, lowered the water level, and fixed the problem. He also stated if the so called «valve» was broken, it was a $ 10 part.
It is unconscionable what this company attempted to do. Either the technician was incompetent and had no clue what he was looking at, he saw a pregnant lady and figured she would be an easy target for a ripoff (I have heard many of these companies give technicians incentives for up charging), or this is the type of shady business the owners run.
I strongly urge everyone to use extreme caution when considering NH Ross for you plumbing needs. We were lucky; because we were cautious and did not get ripped off, I am only stating my experience. If they had done the work, this company would certainly be expecting a complaint with the local and state licensing authorities as well as a small claims suit.

Received great service for the oil to gas conversation project — during a major snow storm! Tom and Josh came despite the weather and they were knowledgeable, hard working and professional. Jimmy add to the experience to the team. Amy is always helpful with customer service, scheduling and just about answering any question about the project. Overall very professional and would definitely hire them again for this kind of project. Highly recommended with 5 star rating!

Absolutely outstanding service! We had a major issue with our heating/​duct setup in the house that we only discovered when we renovated our bathroom. NH Ross came, gave us an estimate and showed up for the service as promised. The job site was left clean, with everything functioning and for the price agreed upon. I must say the service is not cheap (if that is what you are hoping for) but you can be sure the job will be done right and if you have any issues you can call them back any time.

Needed an emergency sewer line cleaning — said he couldn’t give an estimate before coming, to my house. When I asked for price for a cleaning and then if there is another problem, he could tell me, he quoted: $ 500 to $ 600!”, I called another Suffolk county plumbing/​rooter company, their guy quoted, «$ 350» and he came and did there job for that ($ 350) amount. Call for a fair price from another company, this one will obviously try to rip you off. BTW, the daytime, regular hours price from the other company is $ 250 for a sewer line cleaning.

Keith, the NH Ross service technician, was very courteous and efficient in repairing the air conditioning unit. Hecwas clearly very knowledgable and explained everything he was doing. Very satisfied.

Day 1 of my gas conversion was a bit frustrating because the techs told me that they could not do some of the things the sales man said they would do. Day 2 was much better because Tom M was a true professional. He was clean, courteous, and explained everything as he did it. He also fixed a bunch of errors made the day prior and was able to get me a credit on the unfulfilled promises the sales man had made.
Thanks to Tom, I would be more likely to recommend Ross, but I suggest requesting him. Also, Make sure you confirm everything the sales man tells you. (GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING)

NH Ross was at my house the last two days, for my conversion from oil to gas. Keith and James were very professional and polite. They did a great job installing the new water heater and gas unit and removing all the old units and cleaning up the basement.
I already have them scheduled to do some other work around the house and look forward to working with them again.
I highly recommend requesting Keith and James for any plumbing needs in your house. AWESOME JOB!

I have used Ross for the past two years, after having used numerous other HVAC companies and dealing with numerous frustration. I find this company to be extremely reliable, honest, and their Service techs to be some of the best trained and courteous
I have ever dealt with. Eugene was my tech today-​Rob was his «advisor» they came on time-​did all the necessary work quickly and professionally. I would highly recommend this company and their staff

********After countless phone calls, N H Ross Plumbing and Heating of Middle Island refunded my trip charge after giving me a quote that they couldn’t even itemize.
But trust me: If you want your money back, you must continue to call them. You’ll get Bonnie, Marilyn or Ilene.
I would suggest you ask for TIA, extension 100. She ‘s the one who got the money back to me. Thank you, Tia, for not giving me the run around that the rest of the company was giving to me. Thanks for getting MY MONEY back to ME.
At this point, I’ll never know what they wanted to charge 505.70 dollars for. They didn’t want to itemize it.
Don’t get ripped off by companies like this: There are companies out there that will give you a FREE QUOTE/​ESTIMATE and will itemize what you’re being charged for.
They will let you decide if you want the work done. Then, and only then, should you decide to have a company do the work, should you pay a trip charge. ONLY IF THEY DO THE JOB.
