Wise Choice Summer Camp is like no other summer camp in the Miami-​Dade area. Directed by Florida certified teachers, Wise Choice Summer Camps were created to build camper’s self-​confidence and give them a fun, summer learning experience.

Thematic sessions focused on field trips (every Wednesday) ensure that campers are never bored and actively learning. Campers will write a report each week that must be presented every Friday. Our goal is to expose campers to public speaking at an early age to overcome this fear that many adults have. We are a very active camp and campers will participate in swimming twice a week and outdoor sports on a daily basis. Campers will have the option of selecting a mini elective which includes chess, fitness, arts and crafts, or video gaming. Campers will learn and develop important social skills that will help them advance in their regular school academics.

History

Established in 2003.

Daniel Yanes first established Wise Choice Tutoring on June of 2003. The purpose of Wise Choice Tutoring is to assist students who may be struggling in school or just wanting to excel. Wise Choice Summer Camp was a result of the public school system no longer offering summer school to students. This decision affected most tutoring businesses in a negative way. In order to stay afloat during the summer, Wise Choice Summer Camp was set in motion the summer of 2005.

The first year of summer camp was held in a dance studio with about 8 campers in the program. Although there were not many campers in the program, Daniel was able to learn a great deal from them. Daniel wanted to create a program that campers would love and enjoy while simultaneously working on important skills. What began as a small program has blossomed into a successful summer camp program at three locations — FIU, UM and Kendall. Wise Choice now serves hundreds of campers each summer.

Daniel Yanes has always had a passion for teaching. His unofficial teaching career began when he was only a junior at Coral Gables Senior High School. This is where Daniel began to tutor fellow classmates/​friends in order to help them prepare for exams. During his years at FIU, Daniel continued to help students who were struggling with higher level mathematics. Daniel Yanes graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education degree and began his official teaching career at Barbara Goleman Senior High School in 2003. When school was out, Daniel continued to tutor students until 9 pm every night. After school tutoring is what led to the idea of Wise Choice Tutoring.

Wise Choice Tutoring has been operational since 2003. In 2005, Daniel started Wise Choice Summer Camp, an educational summer camp program intended to improve skills while having a great time. Wise Choice Tutoring Center has helped hundreds of students become successful and enter the college of their dreams.
