I think the best shops in Miami are the«mom and pop» starters because the store’s workers and atmosphere tend to be warm and welcoming. V & M Mini Mart, a Filipino convenience store, located off Bird Road is a testimony to this statement. Although this store is very small(so small it is really easy to miss), the store sells different food items native to the Philippines such as noodle meals, ethnic sauces, coconut and jelly products, nursing outfits, calling cards and package pricing to Asia, and Filipino desserts. I never thought I would ever find a place in Miami that sells halo-halo, but V & M Mini Mart proved me wrong. In fact, their halo-halo is one of the best I have ever tasted. Note: Halo-Halo is a popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and evaporated milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, and served in a tall glass or bowl. Ingredients include boiled kidney beans, garbanzos, sugar palm fruit(kaong), coconut sport(macapuno), and plantains caramelized in sugar, jackfruit(langkâ), gulaman, tapioca or sago, nata de coco, sweet potato(kamote), pounded crushed young rice(pinipig). EXTREMELYDELICIOUS! If you are looking to satisfy your craving for Filipino products and food, I recommend you visiting this store. All products are moderately priced, and you may find something that you thought you could never find in Miami.
