The wine selection is only fair but not fairly priced. But what really galls me is that they the prices displayed on the«special bargains» is not reflected at the cash register. Corkpile had it right, they are just out to get money from you. CHECKYOURBILL!!!

I left Miami a few years ago, but this was the spot. A place that didn’t cater to the university students, or people who love flavored vodka in tiny bottles, and instead had a large selection of top shelf liquor. They would often have good specials, which included snifters or carafes with your purchase. A great selection of scotches, vodkas and rum. They always carried Dog Fish head which was my favorite beer when i was in Miami. Their prices on beer are not very competitive, your better of getting your 12 pack at Milam’s next door. Also a good place to get a keg, as they always have several varieties of beer available for keg consumption. Large wine selection too, although those are probably the most outrageously priced items in the store, but that tends to happen with wine.

I heart Top Hat! I visit Top Hat at least once a week(hey, don’t judge me) and stock up on bubbly, vinos, and spirits of choice. I always ask for recommendations and always get great advice on what to buy to suit my palate and budget. The prices are not the cheapest, nor are they the most expensive, but go often enough and buy often enough and you’ll start to get a discount at the register ;) Whenever I leave I always say«Thanks, see you soon!» and they always reply«We know!» lol. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but oh well… se la vie ;)

These people have a great assortment of wine and spirits. I don’t find the overall prices particularly competitive, nor do I find their recommendations particularly helpful. I’ve been recommended very bad absinthe, been misquoted on champagne and just overall felt like getting a buck out of me is the focus(even if not intentially so). However, they often run specials on vodkas and rums that get you the bottommost price. Just do your research before you come. It’s easy to get excited by the selection, only to find it cheaper elsewhere.

Top Hat wines is a great place for special and everyday wines. They’re located at the RedBird center(corner of Red Road and Bird Road). If you really enjoy wine and would like to find something special or unique that you won’t find everywhere else, you should check them out. The staff is very knowledgeable and up to date on latest wine reviews from Robert Parker and others. They will even print out tasting notes and reviews of wines for you so that you can begin to learn and share. I’ve even given clients these reviews along with a nice bottle just so they know not to break this bottle out at the end of a party to chase down the last bit of chips and salsa.
