Taste of Bombay is blessed with a chef who know’s Indian food. Unfortunately not the most happening corner of town(middle of downtown Miami with not much ambiance to the place). Décor could be better and the Indian items for sale by the counter definitely take away from the ambiance… The five star rating is based on the food: exceptional chicken tikka masala and palak paneer. Ask for spicy and the chef will oblige(be careful what you wish for!)… I love this place and go there often. Unfortunately most times I’m there I am the only person in the restaurant. I have no idea how they survive… The food is exceptional and worth it. The lunch buffet is just ok, as is most buffet food. I would order off the menu even if it’s lunch(order something that’s not on the buffet menu! — I suggest Chicken Makani and Palak Paneer)… If you like Indian food, please do visit and keep this place alive, you will like it.

I decided I would give this place a try after reading some of the reviews I’ve seen here and on a few other places, one of which wasn’t all too positive even though they voted it «best lunch buffet», I figured I’d give it a go anyway to see for myself bringing a friend along who is a newbie to Indian Food. We found it pretty easily: seeing a sign on the sidewalk that said«Indian Food», although finding parking was a bit of a challenge since I didn’t want park in the more expensive Biscayne Blvd median parking island nearby. Upon arriving I noted the now $ 11.95 price tag for the lunch buffet and the lack customers, I wondered if we should turn back now to save ourselves from a possibly bad experience. but my desire to try new places pushed me forward! I’m not big on how a place looks, I just care about how the food is. The décor was pretty nice, much better than one would expect for the neighborhood it’s situated in, however, the food was nothing exciting. Not that it was bad, I enjoyed most of it. The lamb curry was tender, the chicken curry was tasty, and the Naan was freshly made. It just seemed to be missing the spark of greatness that I’m used to in other places I’ve been, maybe I’m just spoiled or maybe just enlightened. Best lunch buffet? No, not in my opinion. This just supports my theory that most of the so called«best of» in New Times really isn’t the best but probably who payed the most for the endorsement… Err. I should shut up now. I do like the pretty picture I took!

i like taste of bombay, i think their weekend lunch buffet is a good deal especially if youre really really hungry. ive been here a few times and i cant complain about anything. i still love rajas more, maybe because ive been going to rajas for longer… some of the dishes at bombay are kinda spicy so be aware of that if you cant tolerate those intense flavors. the décor is kinda overwhelming to my taste and they sometimes have problems with their a/c. at least that was the case back in the summer 3.5 solid stars!

Taste of Bombay is to Downtown Miami what House of India is to Downtown Coral Gables. Even the price is the same($ 9.95 for the weekday lunch buffet). Funny, huh? Either way, both are decent restaurants that evoked a lot of similarities. The buffet is nice, comfortable and was voted the best lunch buffet by the Miami New Times in 2007. Is it really the best lunch buffet in Miami? I highly doubt it, especially if I thought it was on par with House of India. But it’s a nice addition to the lunch buffets available in Downtown Miami. If you’re in this part of town and want to go to an Indian buffet, this is the place to be. The only con I see is that I think this place has a bit less variety of dishes compared to that of the House of India. Surprisingly, street parking around this area was not so difficult, but I may have been lucky. Also, I saw that this place has a la carte menu — so either they serve dinner or you can forgo the buffet for something prepared in the kitchen. I didn’t ask. Reviews: Linda Bladholm of the Herald recommended from the menu the fish moli and also the fish masala.
