I’ll give it a 3.5. Any inkling you have to give someone a particular gift, this place probably has it. It’s located inside Dadeland Mall and there always seem to people in there shopping but mostly looking around to get a good laugh. There aren’t any cheap thrills here though sometimes they have sales going on or some sort of discount. It’s fun to go to Spencer’s to give look around and see what novelties they sell– you’d be surprised at what they have and what people actually buy!

I went in purchased a bookbag it was a great experience. Next day, went to return it. The size was inapproriate. I was told since I used a Visa debit card/credit card I could only receive a store credit. I DONTTHINKSO. First, there policy states clearly this pertains ONLY to non-VIsa/MC debit card. Second, I worked as a VISA supervisor. I told the MANAGER to credit it as a Credit Card. She said she couldn’t and I told her Yep, you try. It’s sad. either the poor Manager was new or they tried to pull one over me.

This is a relatively new Spencer Gifts store, located at Dadeland Mall. It looks very industrial inside with lots of aluminum and stainless steel on the walls, on the countertops, etc. The novelties that Spencer’s was once known for have been relegated to 1 small rack, while most of the store is taken up by t-shirts, jewelry, piercings, studs, LED lighting and other items that make this store look like it’s marketed more toward rebelling teenagers rather than to the novelty and gag gift seekers that Spencer’s once appealed to. I came here to return a few items I’d purchased as a gift, but later decided not to give them when I found something else at another store that fit the occasion better. I arrived, walked in and was«greeted» by a woman who was actually standing with and waiting on another customer. She looked at me while still waiting on him and said«You need somethin’?» I explained that I wanted to return a few items. She peered at me and said«You gotta receipt?» I said I did, and she then asked to see the items. I gave them to her, she yelled to one of the other associates to help the customer she’d been dealing with when I arrived, and she took me over to the register to do the exchange. The computer she was trying to use when doing my refund kicked her out a few times, so just trying to deal with a simple refund took about 10 minutes. She finally got it sorted in the end, and she did apologize that it took so long, but IMO, this location definitely needs to work on their customer service skills a bit. It’d also be nice to see them bring back the novelty items and humorous gifts, or at least add more than they currently have.
