Pinecrest Smiles – Arthur I Shapiro, DMD

My dental care has been in the hands of Dr. Shapiro and Tara for the past ten years. All my experiences have been great!

I have been to a variety of Dentists in my life based on living in different cities for work, etc. When I settled down in Pinecrest I decided to try Dr. Shapiro because he was conveniently located for me.
I was really impressed with Dr. Shapiro’s office and service. The place is clean and attractive and seems to have the latest equipment and technology. Dr. Shapiro is friendly and makes you feel very comfortable. He gives good clear information about the procedures so you know what’s going on and can make informed decisions.
Fast forward about 12 years. I have now had some fairly major procedures done with him (I have tried to care for my teeth well but am apparently genetically pre-​disposed to dental problems). I have to say that all the procedures done were consistently less uncomfortable and caused less pain than I expected. I’ve had both minor and major work done and all of it has stood the test of time. Dr. Shapiro and his staff have helped me to maintain a good smile and good dental health. I would highly recommend this practice.

I was referred to Dr Shapiro’s office by a pharmacist who has been getting work done by him for 20 years. He had raved about the fine work Dr. Shapiro did for him. So, I stopped by Dr Shapiro’s office to ask for advice about a procedure I had just gotten; I was distressed at the time, and needed an objective perspective. Dr. Shapiro kindly took the time to explain my xray, and answer all of my questions, and I was not charged or even pressured into scheduling a consult. My impression, and this is something I feel worth Unilocaling about, is that this is a person who truly cares about healing, and helping people. Many dentists are just out for the bucks, this man has heart. I was so impressed and grateful.

The first time i ever visited this office was an indication that i shouldn’t have ever gone back! The doctor was super nice and so was his dental assistant. Unfortunately, his office manager, which also sits at the front dest, is not so professional! As i am in the chair with the doctor working in my mouth, she is standing behind me making some sort of gestures in the middle of the doctor speaking to me that causes his assistant and himself to laugh. I found this to be BEYOND disrespectful!!! She later claimed that she was just rushing him because he was taking too long with me which is not much better! (even though i don’t believe her…) No one wants a doctor that is doing work on them to be rushed!!! this is where mistakes occur!
Stupidly, i decided to go back to finish the cavities i needed done because i liked the doctor, but now, coincidentally, there are billing issues. I was told by THEIR office, after they verified my insurance, that my plan covered 80% after having met my deductible. now conveniently, they don’t know who told me that but that instead, my insurance covers only 60%. Speaking to the office manager was like talking to a girl on the street. she was extremely rude and totally disrespectful!
It’s a shame that such a nice doctor has such a crappy office manager representing his office… a pure shame… I would NEVER go back to this office!!!

I’d like to start off by saying I think dentists are the devil’s minions and that they and their hygenists belong in the 7^th cirlce of hell. But Dr. Shapiro is actually fanstastic. I’ve always been terrified of dentists, so the thought of having to find a new one gives me coniptions. However, I had a cracked tooth so had no choice but to find one ASAP. I hadn’t found a dentist in Miami yet, and I took a huge chance by just going to his practice based on the website but he’s amazing. He and his hygenists are super friendly, and they do everything in their power to make sure you don’t feel pain. I’ve gotten everything from cleanings to fillings to crowns done by him, and not once have I had a bad experience. The office is OCD clean and very high tech, and the receptionist are very helping and welcoming. If you’re looking for a dentist in the Pinecrest area, go to him!
