Specialties
Mestre Behavior Development is a team of behavior analysts dedicated to teaching children affected by autism and related diagnoses. We are trained in the assessment of language and social skills and the implementation of programs targeting skill deficits and problem behavior. Our staff has a combined 12 years of experience teaching young children with autism and developmental delays.
The philosophy of Mestre Behavior Development is that all children have the ability to learn and develop skills regardless of diagnosis, skill deficits or challenging behavior, if a high quality behavior analysis program is implemented.
Our approach to providing high quality behavior analysis programs is to use a combination of procedures based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, finding the right balance for each child. We include verbal behavior procedures, pivotal response treatment, errorless learning and other ABA procedures.
History
Established in 2009.
Each of our programs is created individually with goals and teaching procedures specific to the child’s needs. The focus of Verbal Behavior is the acquisition of language and communication while reducing problem behavior. We target skill deficits in requesting, labeling, motor and vocal imitation, visual performance and matching skills, listener responding, conversational skills, social skills and play skills.
When beginning our programs, we create a reinforcing environment for the child and gradually introduce program demands. We provide a high level of reinforcement throughout our sessions and break down skills into smaller, teachable behaviors to more effectively teach the child.
We offer a preschool preparatory program, social skills groups, toilet training and other programs to complement our one-to-one verbal behavior instruction. Our goal is to assist children in the overall improvement of their way of life by applying behavior analytic principles to learning.
