For the last three years I have been coming to this restaurant at least once a week. The food as always is fantastic and the waiters are friendly, attentive, and have strive to made me feel like family. Recently, things have gone downhill I can’t say it has anything to do with the wait staff. However, the last four times there have been issues with to go orders missing everything and the package including only rice(which I didn’t order) I go back to get the actual food I purchased and the manager simply dismisses it, zero apology and even less attempt at service recovery. Yesterday, I picked up three meals to go and paid with my credit card. The manager(female) tells me the system is having some issues and my card will be charged later(not worried as I still think this is the place that up until now has made me feel like home). This morning I get a charge for the purchase made yesterday(understandable). Flash forward and I was now charged 3 additional charges for the food I picked up yesterday. At this time I have 4 transacrions on my card. I take time from my day off to drive to the location. Same female manager tells me they are updating the credit card system and I am being charged for my order. This is understandable but the three other over charges are not. The manager continues to repeat that I will not be charged for all 4 pending charges on my account and she asks if I would like her to check the system to make sure I will not be overcharged any more.(Are you fucking kidding. I have to ask her to undo her cluster fuck from the day before). She tells me to contact my credit card company and proceeds to hand me a print out of my transaction as well as the transactions for others who also paid with their credit card.(Wrong. Sloppy. Idiotic). All this time not a single apology, or acceptance of their mistake or inconvenience for all the times I have to go back to correct lapses is service directly from her. My time keeps being taken up by her inept attention to detail and crappy customer service if you can call it that…

Went yesterday to celebrate my mother’s birthday. It was chaos at first sight. the restaurant was empty and the smell didn’t help the cause. Meal: salad: the tomatos were old and sour and had a frozen taste to it. One of the main plates was churrasco with Gallo pinto, and the meat wasn’t worth the 22 $ we payed for it. The Gallo pinto was oily and had absolutely no taste, one of the sides was plantains but it seems like the plantains are going extinct at this location because they only gave me 2. The worse part was my mother’s meal. She ordered the 8oz Jalapeño beef tips. It seemed like this was on the children’s menu because they only gave her 3 chicken finger looking pieces of steak. We asked the server if this was the right order and he apologized only to bring another tiny piece from the kitchen. No wonder the restaurant was empty. The prices are over the roof and the service is ridiculous. Don’t waste your money here. Look elsewhere. There’s better options and for a lower price.

So first impression from outside and inn is a lower style steak house. But wow that is a false statement. Steak was perfect. Melted in my mouth and cut with a butter knife. Flavor was perfect. Side were ok. But if I rate on main course I give 4 stars. Get the special!!!

I don’t understand all the mix reviews, this place is as solid as it gets! Great steaks made even more flavorful by the delicious chimichurri sauce, appetizers are large enough to share, the desserts are just right and prices are reasonable especially since they include salad and sides. Churrasco with jalapeño sauce is a must!

I dined here with family to late-celebrate my father’s birthday. He and my mom used to go to this location while they were dating, and from what I’ve heard the quality has steeply declined. I ordered a margarita(waiter eagerly brought me another one without even asking if I wanted another, not quite sure how I felt about that) and the baby churrasco. The margarita was pretty good, the bread they give you with the meal is delicious and I would go back just for that! Salad that comes with the entrée also has good flavor in the simple dressing. Arroz pinto y los platanitos were also yummy by my standards. The problem we all had with the food was the quality of the steak itself. A churrasco is typically a bit«fibery» but this one was very chewy and tough to chew/swallow. In addition, they also put the colored plastic stick that indicates how the meat was cooked in the wrong steaks and my father’s and cousin’s steaks got mixed up(they noticed halfway through the meal and switched). Also, the mariquitas, or the long plantain chips, had been fried in oil that was in no way fresh and they were a complete disappointment(something we highly look forward to when dining at Los Ranchos). Finally, my mom had asked for a tres leches dessert to celebrate the birthday. Now, growing up I remember that restaurants would give you a complimentary small dessert if they were told it was your birthday, and I remember dreading that if it were ever MY birthday(because of the singing). On this occasion(I’m not sure if it’s true for all Los Ranchos), we were charged $ 6.00 for a TINY little piece of tres leches that was shared between the 5 of us. Prices made my dad feel like he was being«ripped off.» It had been a very long time since the last time we had dined here, and an even longer time since I had been at this location, which is the original location. I was totally satisfied with the attentive service on everyone’s behalf — lady who sat us, the waiter, and there was even a musician singing some tunes. It was definitely a pleasant atmosphere; however, because of the above(overpriced, sub-par quality) we do not plan on going back.

Was hesitant to try this place because of the mixed reviews, which I now noticed are not recent. The service was great, food was very very good, prompt delivery. I recommend it! Very close to my school(Florida International University). Will be coming again!

The steak was really good. I haven’t been here in 15 years today I decided to eat here since I always liked it. I found the place to be a little run down and a weird stench in the air. Maybe they had a leak in the roof. Who knows? I really didn’t like the fried cheese or the chorizo. Very dry. I didn’t like the fact that they serve you the rice and not just put it on the plate or table. I actually went for the steak and I did enjoy it. The service was good as well.

Haven’t been to Los Ranchos in a while and man did I forget how good they are. As soon as we got there they immediately served us water and brought out bread. Love those little breads! Had to tell the server to stop bringing me bread cuz I was getting full. PS put a little chimichurri sauce on those suckers and your in heaven. Anyway, we started out with a couple of Tona’s, nice smooth Nicaraguan beer and a couple of Tacos de Pollo. The Tacos are great just need to ask for some extra salad/sauce. Our entrees consisted of the Churrasco Presidente while my wife got the Baby Presidente. All I can say is, man that was one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time! It was beautifully seasoned and so tender I didn’t even have to use my knife. My wife’s was also very good, seasoned well, juicy but not as tender as mine. Of course all there meals come with Gallo pinto, plantains(both fried & as chips). I recommend ordering a side of the jalapeño cream sauce and mixing it with the Gallo pinto and steak, yum. Don’t forget to put some of that chimichurri sauce on your steak too. Getting hungry just writing the review. You can’t go to Los Ranchos and not have there signature Tres Leches. It is out of control. We also ordered the Cuatro Leches, it was ok, my favorite is still the original Tres Leches. Also have to point out the service was excellent. Everyone was very nice friendly and attentive.

My boyfriend and I went on a date here during lunch on a Monday, so it was pretty empty. Which was great, because I’m not big into crowded places. The man who sat us down was very nice, but it was the woman who came afterwards to take our order and serve our food to us that acted less than friendly. Don’t get me wrong, she delivered our food(forgot our tea for a long while) and gave us everything we asked, but it was like as soon as she discovered that my boyfriend and I didn’t speak Spanish very well(this restaurant was purely just Spanish speaking) or maybe it was because of how we looked, but she started to show no interest or emotion and just kept serving us stuff like a zombie. She then proceeded to sit down a very noisy group of older gentlemen right next to my boyfriend and I despite the fact that the whole restaurant was pretty much empty, which ruined the romantic atmosphere for us. We noticed right away how talkative and doting she was to these group of older men, and when she had to serve us she seemed annoyed. My boyfriend even said he would’ve tipped more if she didn’t act the way she was. I give it 2 stars because the food was good and well cooked, but the staff doesn’t seem to be friendly to people they think don’t have much money or people they think are«gringos».

I’ve been to Los Ranchos Restaurant plenty of times already and I never experienced any disappointment from them. I love this restaurant. It has a lovely atmosphere, a good feel and impressive service. Even if there are many people, the restaurant doesn’t feel crowded. In my opinion, this is a good place if you want good food. They have many delicious dishes. One look at their menu and you would surely want to try them all. My favourite of all their dishes is their Angus steak. It’s always cooked to perfection. It’s flavourful and easy to eat.

This was a nice place to go during lunch. It offers a friendly staff and lovely dinning set. However I believe they took too long for my lunch. I only ordered appetizers and the price was a bit inflated. I have gotten more for my money elsewhere. Steak wasn’t cooked as ordered, but not a terrible experience. Beware of the 6 dollars dessert. Tres leches was amazing, but everyone on the table was amazed at its price.

I have been having occasional lunch at this particular Los Ranchos on 107th ave. I have taken friends & clients and they love the food. They have an executive lunch specials starting at $ 5.00. It is hard to find a n executive lunch at these prices anywhere else in town.

Los Ranchos is a traditional restaurant with a rich history of service & quality of food. I must have been to every one of their restaurants in Central America & South Florida. I noticed they are opening or already opened a restaurant in Hialeah @ Westland Mall. Okay, the important stuff; I have been to this location over 10 times. The service was outstanding, as always! The food not so good. We ordered two Churrascos(Skirt Steak); a regular Churrascos & a Baby Presidente Churrasco. I recommend spending the extra money for the Baby Presidente, the meat was extremely tender & juicy. The regular Churrasco was a bit hard & had absolutely no taste. The gallo pinto(rice w/beans) was not tasty at all. It seems like they are not using traditional Nicaraguan or Central American black beans, which are standard in Nicaraguan gallo pinto. Their gallo pinto has never tasted like true gallo pinto, for that you better off going to Fritanga Moninbo o any other Nicaraguan restaurant. However, in the past the gallo pinto at Los Ranchos has been outstanding without tasting or having the traditional texture from a true Nicaraguan restaurant. Again, these flaws are quickly forgotten when you receive the superb service by one of their waitress/waiter at the restaurant. They are simply outstanding. I hope they fix these little issues soon & return to the traditional tasty food they are known for.

sorry to say that my lunch today at los ranchos at Sweetwater was not good at all. I asked for a well done vulcan steak… and they gave it to me medium rear(red) and the gallo pinto had no flavor at all… I told the waiter and he did not apologize at all… very disappointed customer… I told the lady at the front desk…:(:(

I think it was the ‘wine list’ that did it. I remember when this used to be a classy place. The food was always good and the service top notch. I would not hesitate to bring someone here on a nice romantic date or bring a friend here to impress them. the last time i went here I was very underwhelmed Perhaps I have been spolied by living in Boston and experiencing what good restaurants are like. The meat is pretty good, and the pina coladas are also good. That’s about it. There are other Nicagaruan restaurants in the area that offer much better service at a more reasonable price. I think I am going to skip this place for a while and see wether it improves or just goes out of business.
