History

Established in 1988.

I began my legal career in the Miami-​Dade Public Defender’s Office in 1985, initially defending people charged with burglary, drug possession, violent crimes, DUI, and domestic violence. In 1988 I opened the Law Offices of Barry M. Wax and expanded my practice to include federal criminal defense, such as fraud, firearms offenses, alien smuggling and money laundering to name a few. Over the years, I have handled thousands of cases and gained a reputation as a zealous advocate for my clients.

Business Owner

I am a native of South Florida, having grown up on Miami Beach during the 1960s and 70s. I graduated from Florida State University with a degree in mass communications and film production, and worked in the film industry producing movies, tv commercials and television programming. In 1982 I enrolled in the University of Miami School of Law, and earned my law degree in 1985. I am a past-​President of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers — Miami Chapter, a Director at Large for the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (statewide) and a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
