Business Owner

Dr. Basta graduated from Florida International University with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and pursued a post-​baccalaureate at the University of Florida in Animal Science and graduated with honors. He pursued his veterinary career by attending Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Missouri, College of Veterinary Medicine for his clinical year. Dr. Basta graduated in January of 2004, then moved to NYC and practiced general medicine and surgery in Queens, Long Island and Manhattan.

This place is real unprofessional. My cat had some irritation on her skin so we took her to Kind Animal Hospital to check it out. The assistant (with tattoos and large gauge earrings) was showing off his scars on his hand from previous cats he mishandled as we were waiting for the vet. The vet and assistant look like people who robbed the place than dressed up as and pretend to be veterinarians. In some attempt to examine my cat, they lunged at her to cover her with some raggedy towel and forcefully grabbed her to prevent resistance. Of course, she was all wild now as the vet speculated that the skin irritation could be the result of an allergy from incense, lotion, or something in our house. We literally walked out and went to another place down the street who gave my cat antibiotics and and ointment. I found them to be just plain incompetent.

I have been taking my cats to Dr. Basta for years… one of them I found abandoned by her mother at one day old, and Dr. Basta helped me nurse her until she was out of the woods, despite a variety of medical problems in her first 4 weeks and then again as an adult. He explains exactly what he sees the problems as, explains exactly what he is going to do and the different options available, and his staff is very friendly and they always follow up when there has been a serious problem. He’s performed surgery twice on one of my cats (spay and an exploratory surgery for her stomach problems) and spayed my other female. I trust them completely with my babies. Thanks!

My husband and I have been taking our two dogs (jack russell and yorkie) to Dr. Basta for a couple of years. We could not have had a better experience! Dr. Basta and his staff are knowledgeable, professional and friendly. I highly recommend the Kind Animal Hospital.

We found this place after not wanting to deal with another animal hospital no longer. We needed to get to another place to get a real full check-​up for our dog, Pookie, before boarding her. This place was it. They solved that problem with no hassle and they were thorough with whatever they were doing. Honesty and up to a point was all we needed. The receptionist wasn’t phony at all & Dr. Basta also seemed so affectionate with my Pookie.
