We ordered chop suey, baby octopus, mixed soup and the kanisu roll. The soup was exactly what I had been craving! The wontons were amazing. The baby octopus was okay, I don’t like seeing their tentacles but my bf liked their taste(fresh). The chop suey was good but could have used more beef(mainly veggies) and the kanisu was standard but good. Overall I am happy with this place and I would recommend it!

My husband and I enjoyed our dinner here. The restaurant was quiet and the service was friendly. We had the wonton soup which was very good, and my husband had the volcano shrimp which was extremely tasty. I had the shrimp tempura roll which was served in nice bites sizes, however the volcano shrimp my husband had was much more savory. The restaurant was cute and quaint except for the hallway leading to the bathroom which seemed to need some renovations. Overall it was a nice eating experience but not a place I would probably go back to.

Small location with a huge menu. Food is fresh and flavorful. The staff was friendly. Great lunch specials if you are in the area.

Honestly the best sushi I’ve had in Miami(and this has been many different places)! So impressed with QUALITY and price. Everything is so delicious! We ordered things that were a little too spicy for my taste(my mouth was on fire) but the flavor was soooo good it was worth it. Will definitely be coming back! 5 stars all around. Good service too!

A hidden gem on Bird Road… we(I say ‘We’ because I always include my boyfriend) ordered Tom Ga Goon soup. Delicious coconut milk broth and 3 big shrimps in the soup exceeded my expectations. We had the Red Dragon roll and it was very fresh tuna. We highly recommend the Shrimp Fried Rice, Thai Style. Our waitress recommended it as they add fish sauce. Excellent service! We will definitely come back!

Little gem… so glad we found this place! The food, service, and ambiance are great. I had the Florida Gator which was a party in my mouth. My gf had the Millennium that comes topped with tuna salad(not too mayonnaisey), delicious. We’ll be back soon.

Delicious and affordable sushi spot! Came here on a late night crave for sushi and was not disappointed. Sat on the cool little stage area where there are no shoes allowed and you sit on pillows on the floor, felt very authentic.(There are normal chairs and tables as well) Only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because the plaza is a bit sketchy looking at night and also, one of the rolls my boyfriend ordered that had eel had a piece of spine and he choked up a bit, so just be aware. Overall, if you’re in the mood for cheap and good sushi, kam wah is great.

Recommendations: Volcano Roll(Best in Miami) Special Friend Rice Awesome Roll Tsunami Roll This isn’t your regular Chinese take-out spot. The food is above quality and the staff is great. You need to dine-in to get the full experience of this delicious restaurant.

I love this place more than I can describe. It reminds me of when I used to eat Asian cuisine in Hawaii. My wife and I will substitute no other sushi restaurant in the area for the delicacy that is Kamwah restaurant! Their food is fresh, unique, and delicious! The service is enjoyable and caters well to your needs. As is the environment and location

This place seems like it isn’t much, but it is honestly so wonderful. The atmosphere is light, and i live less than a mile from this place and my family and i are regulars here. If i come by myself, they will ask how my family is doing. The sushi is the BEST I’ve ever had. I can honestly say it is probably the best sushi, and best service you can get down bird road.

You would never imagine how good the food is by just walking by. The Honey Chicken was the Best Ever, juicy inside and crispy/crunchy outside. The LoMein was delicious, the sushi was fresh and tasty, the Fried Cheesecake with Ice Cream was Heavenly. I would recommend this place hands down. The young lady that took care of us was very sweet and attentive.

I’ve been a customer of this hiddem gem for many years now. The only type of food I’ve ever ordered here has been from the thai menu, so I can’t speak for the sushi. The red chicken curry has always been my number one choice and comes highly recommended. Order it extra spicy if you can handle it. They serve a decent portion, along with jasmine rice. Kam Wah does offer other types of curry, but this has been my favorite. The second dish I usually order is the Pad Thai. They serve a huge portion and it’s never too oily. They offer different types of meat, but I always stick with chicken. Everything else I’ve tried(salads, desserts, appetizers) have been delicious and cooked properly. Food prices are a little pricey, as expected. The biggest complaint would be the décor. This place is never busy, but they have it jam packed with tables so it doesn’t feel so intimate. I don’t like the TVs in the dining room. I would prefer if they had some traditional music on to create a more Asian vibe. A TV at the bar seems more appropriate. Don’t pass Kam Wah up because you’ll be missing out on some of the best Thai in the area. If the dining room isn’t comfortable for you, grab it to go. Enjoy :-)

We came here because of all the great reviews but I did not like this place. We started with salads. I had ginger husband had peanut sauce. Both dressings were weird tasting and not in a good way. Next we tried a couple of rolls. JB roll and I can’t remember the other. The rolls were not good. The fish did not taste fresh and they were not put together as expected. The service was very strange as well. We just had a weird vibe the whole time. We left hungry after the 2 rolls because we were not interested in trying anything else. This kind of seems like a place that is trying to do too many things/styles but is not doing any of them particularly well. Disappointing.

I thought it was a great restaurant based on the 4-star average reviews, but it is not that good. We ordered a fried thai noodles, house steak, Miami heat roll, eel roll and other appetizers, so that we could try different styles of Asian food. Steak didn’t taste like steak, more like boiled beef with soy sauce, the rolls had too much cream and the rice was hard, the fried crystal noodles was salty. If you want good Asian food, I won’t recommend this one.

The absolute only reason this hole-in-the-wall sushi place(gem) doesn’t get 5 stars is because of the sometimes-slow service. Otherwise, it’s a definite 5 stars every time. I discovered this place before it became all the rage and the secret got out(pre-2006). Since then, it was been my absolute favorite place for sushi(rolls). The best rolls to get are the 3-Way Roll and Volcano Roll. If you love baked seafood on top of your rolls, these are the way to go. I like the 3-Way Roll the best because it’s like a Volcano roll with sweet eel sauce on top. Perfection. For appetizers I definitely recommends the tuna tataki and egg drop soup. This place also has some of the best chicken pad thai, ever. One thing I really like about the way they do their rolls here is that they’re not monstrous in size. I hate when I have to take 2 bites out of my roll or struggle getting it all in my mouth while having it fall apart. The rolls here are smaller and perfectly tight. Dessert — thai donuts. Don’t leave here without them. Perfectly made with sweet condensed milk on the side. If I didn’t live much farther away from this place, I’d definitely be going at least once a week to fulfill my sushi cravings!

After reading the raving reviews and being practically begged to go by our friends, we decided to accept their invitation to dine at Kam Wah. I honestly think we must have picked the absolute worst items on the menu! We ordered the 3 way Roll, which was supposed to be a glorified volcano roll(and $ 13 as opposed to $ 9). However, we also ordered a volcano roll and guess what? It was the SAMEEXACTROLL! Not a single visible or tastable difference! We also ordered a dragon roll(another $ 13 roll) that tasted like pure ketchup. It was disgusting. Not to mention both rolls were itty bitty. I left starving, unsatisfied, and sincerely grossed out. My friend’s dish if fried rice look okay. I didn’t try it. They were really embarrassed by how horrible the sushi was, so maybe we will give it another chance and only order from the Thai menu.

What would I do without Unilocal when I drive around town in neighborhoods completely unknown? You could call Kam Wah a hidden gem, serving fresh food with friendly service. The windows are completely covered with bamboo blinds from the outside, so you can’t see inside at all. You step inside into this warm inviting place with dark wood, burgundy walls and beautiful Thai art. The best part– an elevated area with traditional floor seating. Several TVs streaming college games at a low volume. The menu is well organized into Thai, Japanese and Chinese appetizers, rice, noodles, veggies, meats, chicken, seafood and sushi. I’d say $ 30+ for lunch is not exactly cheap but I did sample a number of items and take some food home. The best thing about the Thai salad is the peanut dressing, including chunks of peanut. The California eel roll was very nice for under $ 10. Just enough rice to hold it together(I hate it when the rolls are all rice) and a generous portion of BBQ eel on top. Tempura tofu appetizer is a nice deal for under $ 5. Comes out steaming, the crust is light, it’s not oily and it looks pretty. I made it an entrée by ordering a side of steamed veggies. The side was huge, enough to share. Be warned they don’t season the veggies at all, they are purely steamed, which I appreciated. I used my tempura dipping sauce to add a bit of flavor. I was very tempted to try the fried oreos with ice-cream just because it sounds so wrong but I went the safe route with fried bananas. Once again, sweet ripe bananas covered in tempura batter, topped with ice cream, can’t go wrong with that. This might be a regular spot for me if it weren’t half way in the Everglades.
