I just called to schedule an appointment for a first time visit, and the person on the phone was very unprofessional. Once I stated my insurance was through United– from my employer– she said they did not have anything for the rest of this month. I said February 15^th or 16^th, in the afternoon– she replied that she had nothing until March for the morning. Once I tried to clarify what she was saying, she started speaking slowly, as if I couldn’t keep up with the conversation. Finally, after getting fed up with being spoken to, so disrespectfully, I just said I would find a doctor’s office with better staff and hung up. Based on all the reviews, this doctor seems like a great optometrist, however, if he doesn’t disassociate himself from the raunchy staff, I see him losing many patients.

I have been coming to Dr. Hagen for about 4 years now… With or without insurance, I have never opted to go anywhere else because he truly is great. I’ve never felt rushed while he is seeing me. On the contrary, he loves to talk to you and it’s not just small talk either. It’s professional, beneficial conversation about what is happening with your eyes, what lens may be better than the other, etc. and he is always willing to share information that he has learned at seminars.
Another great thing about him is that he carries all brands of contact lenses, so you know he’s not partnering with any in particular. I truly feel that he cares more about the well-​being of his patients then making a few extra bucks by recommending you a brand that’s not good for you.
So then why have I knocked off a star? Two reasons: 1) the wait time is ridiculous. Yesterday, I waited an hour and a half to be seen, and although I was patient and took that time to choose new glasses, it’s still an hour and a half. 2) all the girls I’ve ever encountered working here are beyond friendly. However, there was one yesterday whom I’ve never met before that had an attitude and just didn’t seem very pleasant. Kind of sucks when I’m overhearing her giving attitude to other patients over the phone… But either way, I still love Dr. Hagen!

Dr. Hagan is fantastic. Such a wonderful light nature to him that I find refreshing in a Doctor. He is a wealth of information and his staff is the best. I went in for eye exam and glasses order. I happened to have a pair of sunglasses with me that needed to have the tiny screws tightened. Well without hesitation the friendly woman at the front promptly fixed that side and tightened both FREE of charge. Prices are decent and they work with insurances. I called spoke to Stephanie who was so helpful and patient and was able to get an appointment the same afternoon. My husband and I will be patients of Dr. Hagan for as long as he will have us.

I wish I can give this dr 0 stars. My mom saw the dr himself earlier this year and she sad he was rude and selective to the type of clients he prefers to treat. Today I made an emergency apt because I she injured her cornea. The person that made the appt verified the insurance coverage and was polite and fit her in as soon as possible. When she arrived, she spoke to 2 different people, one said they would take her and take the insurance, the other one said no. One kept on handling her off to another one. Terrible service, I am so mad how my mom was treated. I reported the situation to the office manager Stephanie, she said my mom should have never left the office and they should have figured it out.

Dr hagen and his staff are awesome! The customer service is great and the doctor really know his stuff! Has a lot of experience and great personality! I love going here

I first went to Dr. Hagen two years ago after my business partner found him on Unilocal.I am a Real Estate Broker but have a degree in Ophthalmic Technology and worked in that field for 5 years as a COMT. I fit several patients with contact lenses so I have a high standard when it comes to picking an eye car professional. My experience with Dr. Hagen was terrific. I needed to switch to a multifocal lens to help me with reading and he did a fabulous job with explaining everything.
I didn’t realize I was down to my last pair of lenses and ran out about 6 weeks ago. I called to make an appointment and the first appointment they had at 9AM, the only convenient time for me to go was a month into the future. I wasn’t happy about that, but made the appointment. I did call a few other places, much closer to where I live in the Brickell area. Both places were pretty abrupt and rude on the phone with me and when I checked their online reviews, they were less than satisfactory.
I just had my appointment with Dr. Hagen today and it was well worth the wait. It was a very thorough exam and Dr. Hagen is very down to earth, friendly and personable. His office is quite far from where I live in the Brickell area. It took me about 45 minutes to get there, but it was well worth it. His office staff is very pleasant and friendly and the office is very neat and clean. The price of an exam is also very reasonable.
I would highly recommend Dr. Hagen to anybody. He is a true expert at what he does. With years of experience in the Optical World and now the owner of two businesses myself, I can be a very tough critic and Dr. Hagen really exceeded my expectations.

First time getting an eye exam in almost 4 years, the doctor was informative, precise, and personable. I paid half of the cost for my glasses up front and will pay the remainder when they are ready to be picked up. There is a nice selection of frames and the staff is very attentive. Thanks guys!

I scheduled an a appointment over the phone a week and a half in advance because that’s all they had available. They said that they would call me to confirm that Friday (appt was on Monday). They never did. Once at the office and signed in I was asked what time my appointment was. They said I was never scheduled. Had other issues with my insurance even though I had confirmed everything a week and a half ahead of time when I called to schedule the appt. Took over an hour a half to be seen with an appointment. Seemed very unorganized. Would never go again or recommend it to anyone. The doctor said he would send my retinal images to a specialist and that they would call me about the results either the same day or next. Still no call again.

Dr. Hagen and his staff are great. I’ve been wearing my new glasses for a few days and they are perfect. I can see so much better. He really took the time to listen to my needs and get my prescription just right. Thanks Dr. Hagen!

The staff were able to squeeze me in to see the Dr. the same day even though they usually have a long wait for appointments. They were nice and courteous. The doctor was great. He really took his time with me and wasn’t trying to rush to get to the next patient like most doctors I’ve been to. He explained things to me very clearly and also made conversation with me. He then took the time to show me the results of my tests and explained what they meant. Had a great experience here.

I was in town on business and got a very untimely eye infection. The staff answering the phones were so courteous and helpful in finding my insurance information, as well as squeezing me into the normal schedule. The area was convenient as I was able to get my script filled at the CVS and grab a bottle of red wine all without driving all over the place before heading back to my hotel.
Dr. Hagen even helped me out with some one a day throw away contacts so I wouldn’t be stuck wearing my glasses at the beach over the weekend :) Highly recommend.

Thanks to Dr. Hagen we learned that my son did not need progressive lenses as originally prescribed by another doctor & came to realize that my glasses were also not the right prescription needed for my vision. Not only are the hours convenient but the staff is amazing and friendly. Thank you for making our first or many annual visits fantastic.

One more time, the experience at doctor office is pleasant.

I have a terrible phobia when it comes to eyeballs. Dr. Hagen and his staff put me completely at ease. Took his time and easy to talk to. I’ve found my family eye doctor. I will be returning.

Courteous staff and friendly doctor. Took his time wth my son’s eye exam. Very impressed by his staff, girl at front desk is very helpful and resourceful. Great customer service. Will return, highly recommend!

As a physician (and therefore a horrible patient) I had been wearing the same contact lens prescription for at least 10 years, and I was discovering that I couldn’t see as well as I used to. I have unusual issues with my eyes, so I turned to Unilocal to find a good optometrist. Dr. Hagen’s reviews were great, and I liked the fact that he uses the Optomap machine to take a retinal photo instead of dilating the eyes. I checked out his website, and he seemed to be up-​to-​date on the latest technology as well, so I called for an appointment. They had an opening available on the same day, so I drove all the way from downtown Miami. It was worth it.
Check in was fast and the office staff were very professional. Dr. Hagen spent plenty of time talking about my situation, and addressing my issues. He has a very warm and friendly manner, and the new lens he suggested was amazing. I can’t believe how clear the world looks now! He gave me 10 days of trial lenses to get used to them, but by day 2 they are already perfect. Even if this contact lens prescription hadn’t worked out, he offers 90 days of free follow-​ups to get it exactly right. I am very impressed. Glasses have never worked well for me due to my vision issues, but I plan to give them a try when I go back for my follow-​up next week. Highly recommended!

I was looking for a caring eye doctor in my area for my son as he was interested in contact lenses to replace his glasses. This business is professional and friendly from start to finish. From the first telephone call through the follow-​up appointments, I was completely satisfied with their expertise and customer service. What I liked most about their practice is that they treated my son. They addressed his questions and concerns, and took the time that was needed for this type of visit.
We were given trial lens for a week then had to adjust just one lens. Another trial lens was given and that was the perfect combination of comfort and quality of vision. They were also upfront about initial costs, insurance claims and pricing going forward with reordered lenses.
I would highly recommend this business for any eye care need. I would especially recommend this practice for those members looking for a doctor that takes the time with each patient. In our situation, it was a minor child transitioning from glasses into contacts.

Dr. Hagen is a pretty neat guy. I’ve had a pretty pleasant experience with all my eye doctors but Dr. Hagen seems to be in a separate category.
I went to get my RX updated since I have been wearing old contacts and glasses for over a year. I saw he was accepted by my insurance and had good reviews on Unilocal and was very close to home (good thing if i needed to get my eyes dilated).
I got there 15 mins early and had to fill out some paperwork and was able to be seen pretty much on time. They have a cool eye scan machine that is a better alternative to eye dilation which was supper cool. Dr. Hagen is welcoming and friendly and engages the patient. Maybe its a thing with eye doctors, but regardless he’s pretty cool.
The only thing that erks me is the hours they have. They only have 2 days a week open late (7pm) Since i work until 5 the earliest I can make is 6 pm and even then that’s pushing it. Also since there is limited late slots they fill up fast. I called early November and the first available appt was Dec 6! I wasnt in a rush but man if i only had contacts I might have had to go to work blind. Oh and the kicker– no weekend hours either which doesn’t help either.
Will i go back– yes i just know to make my appointment way in advance for when i need it.
Long story short: Friendly Doc with limited hours but well worth making the time to schedule your appointment with him and his staff.

Dr. Hagen was great! He really takes the time to provide the best vision examination and really takes it in his best interest to provide you the best care and recommendations for contacts. If he recommends contacts that you test and later find out you don’t like, he’ll take them back and swap them out with others! No optometrist that I have gone to before has ever done that!
Dr. Hagen is a people person, very charismatic and enjoys taking the time to get to know his patients rather then being a robot and treating patients like a transaction. I would highly recommend Dr. Hagen!
