History

Established in 1987.

Capt. Joe Gonzalez is a native to Florida and his love and passion for the sport led him to pursue this career which he started in 1987. Since then, Joe has fished from Biscayne Bay — to the Florida Keyes — to Flamingo. Joe specializes in flyfishing and light tackle fishing for bonefish, permit, tarpon, redfish, snook, trout, shark, barracuda and more.

In 2003, Capt. Joe Gonzalez began working with the University of Miami’s Tarpon & Bonefish Research Program. He has tagged over 1,500 bonefish and has been influential in acoustic telemetry studies in bonefish movements and migrations. With Dr. Jerry Ault (from The University of Miami) on board, leading and conducting studies, Joe has been active in the bonefish census taking place in Biscayne Bay and The Florida Keys. In 2008, Joe played a vital part in introducing the tagging program to fishing guides and lodges in Los Roques, Venezuela.

Capt. Joe Gonzalez has been fishing the South Florida area since his childhood. While growing up Joe spent his summers fishing in the Florida Keys and The Bahamas. He is a native to Florida and his love and passion for the sport led him to pursue this career which he started in 1987. Since then, Joe has fished from Biscayne Bay — to the Florida Keyes — to Flamingo. Joe specializes in flyfishing and light tackle fishing for bonefish, permit, tarpon, redfish, snook, trout, shark, barracuda and more.
