Fortune House All Suites Hotel

It’s really old apartments or condos, not a hotel. It was filthy. Dirty dishes and utensils in the kitchen cabinets. I mean dishes with food on them. The carpet was so nasty it smelled. Mold and grime everywhere. Bugs. Had to pay for hot tub etc that was way too skanky to use. A total rip off.

I will give the Fortune House that the price is great for the location. That being said, I had to write a negative review given a few key qualities that this condo-​hotel lacks. First, the check-​in was painfully long; only one employee working the desk. There is no ice in the hotel — I had to follow a very nice employee to the parking garage to get ice! I stayed here because I had a late night at work and I did not want to commute back north, so I was drying my clothes for work the next day and the dryer stopped working half way through. The shower had TERRIBLE water pressure. Lastly, THE BED. I would not even consider it a bed. The mattress is not fit for a hospital. The people at the Fortune House were very nice but I cannot bite my tongue.

We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite. WE LOVED IT!!! The location was cool too. There were some things that needed to be done with this place. 1 bedroom had a headboard that was scratched up and looked broken (REALLY NEEDS FIXING). They need to paint, and use good paint! They also need 2 clean the window seals. This is a really nice layout great for groups or couples, but it needs touch ups. It had an all stainless steel kitchen, washer/​dryer, flat screens in every room, kitchen table, & a balcony. Staff was ok. No complaints other than they need minor adjustments. I’m surprised that their ratings are so low. I mean for the price how can you beat it? I paid a $ 100 deposit also which was returned quickly. I’d stay here again. & recommend it 2 others who aren’t interested im staying near the strip.

Worst hotel ever, no customer service skills at all! Staff dont know what they are doing, very rude people dont bring your pets because even they say they are pet friendly they will give you a big problem and even kick you out! WORST WORST WORST DO NOT RECOMMENDED TO ANYBODY!

We looked for a one night stay in Brickell before our cruise and we came across this place which looked nice and affordable online.
We arrived late around midnight and the checkin process was fast. We asked to have a late checkout and they postpone it to noon instead of 11 am with no extra cost.
The rooms or shall I say condo are spacious and can accommodate up to 4 people (2 bedrooms).
Overall very basic finishes bed mattress not that comfortable and for a night will do.
There is no real room service and the restaurant below ranked very low here so we didn’t try.
Good place for a night stay but I won’t build my Miami vacation around it

The only reason I give this spot one star is purely for location and room size. The fortune house is located in smack middle brickell. The rooms are also apartment style which is great for long stays or couple shares. However, the customer service is horrible!
I called for room device at 730 am to get some food. The employee told me «he can’t deliver food because it’s too busy and room delivery slows them down». Umm then what is the point of room service? We also got in late from our flight which we called beforehand to notify them. Upon arrival, the door was locked and we kept ringing he buzzer. We finally had to wait for a random by stander to come open the door for us.
The beds are also horrible. They look really nice but once you sit on them you feel the springs popping out!
I recommend this spot purely for location or room shares. If you don’t care about a comfy bed or hotel amenities then stay here. Otherwise stay Away.

I’m confused why there are bad and mediocre reviews for this place. Fortune House next to The Four Seasons is a great place. My group of friends loved it. The view was nice from the balcony. I tried to post some photos. We had a suite with 2 rooms and a kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave). The TV was large flat screen mounted to the wall, and the A/​C worked very well. It had a pool and jacuzzi. I would definitely return to this place. We got a great deal, and it’s only one large bridge away from South Beach.
I had one complaint, but it’s very minor. They charge $ 20 a day to leave your car their overnight. The price isn’t really the issue. It’s just that it’s not listed anywhere. The only sign they have outside is a big $ 7 parking sign, which says (For Visitors only). It would be nice if they said Visitors pay this much, and guests pay this much, but still not a big deal because the neighborhood of Brickell in Miami was excellent.

The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in… From cockroaches to mold… Staff is not very intelligent…(receptionist didn’t know what dairy was… LOL) they made so many promises that they literally never kept like moving to a room that didn’t smell, or had working Internet, or air conditioning that didn’t leak. I can honestly say this is one of the most fake nice hotels I’ve ever stayed in. I would rather stay in an Extended Stay then ever step foot back in that place.

Positives: good location, fitness center and pool were nice, staff were pleasant. Had washer and dryer unit.
Negatives: bed uncomfortable and creaky, bed made hospital style without fitted sheets so it just came apart, bathtub floor cracked apart, maid service pretty spotty on replenishing coffee, no hangers in closet (they brought some when we called).
No checkin until four on the dot and they started calling us at 10:30 to assure we were aware we had to be out by eleven.
Cannot stress enough how bad the bed was.

Staying at this hotel was a terrible experience and that is mostly because of the rudeness of the staff. We booked online and were told it was pet friendly. Then we got there and they asked us to use the back entry and the service elevator with our pampered little Shitzu. Honestly, he is cleaner than most people and very well behaved. We have traveled all over the world and have never been treated as if our little doggie was vermin. At one point as we sat in the lobby, I was asked to step off the carpeted area because I had my dog there with me. I assured them that he was very well trained and would not hurt their carpet. They just looked at me in disgust. I would have left if I hadn’t just driven over 30 hours straight and was too exhausted to find another hotel.
Oh, and when we were leaving, we left some groceries in the refrigerator. The lady who was head housekeeper came in as we were walking out (did not even say «hello») and within a few minutes I realized I left about a hundred dollars worth of groceries upstairs. I ran back up to get them and the maintenance man told me that the housekeeping lady had taken them. She did not even bother to try to tell us as we left that our food was there before she stole it. (No, we were not able to track her down and get it back).
Now, I just found out that they charged us a $ 150 «pet fee.» At the time of arrival they told me there would be a $ 250 «pet deposit» but no mention of a fee. I agreed and stayed because I knew my pet would not do any damage. If I had known they were going to charge a $ 150 pet fee, I would have left, no matter how tired I was. I only paid $ 140 for the room for myself (through expedia). It is ridiculous for them to have charged this amount– with no warning! (I am disputing it with my credit card). And it is ridiculous that they treated us so rudely. We are very nice people and not used to being treated like that when we are trying to be nice to them.
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY ELSEWHERE!!!

1) our car was damaged on valet parking by vandalism. Someone cracked plastic on our light
2) we lived on 12^th floor and there were bed bugs

Don’t bother with this place. Fortune House «Hotel» is a condo association where condo owners convert their condos to hotel rooms. As a result no two rooms are the same (I know this because they switched me to 3 different rooms of the same layout after my complaints of the room (s) being unsatisfactory), and the quality of the rooms is up to the owner of each unit, not the «hotel.» The mixture of permanent residents and hotel guests ruin the amenities offered by the «hotel,» as there are no separate guest/​resident facilities. Avoid this «hotel» like the plague if you want a nice, problem free, relaxing stay in Miami. There are much better options in Brickell if you need to stay in that area. There are far more cons than pros with Fortune House «Hotel» and I will lay them all out for you.
The rooms are very outdated, even for a building built in 1998 (google). The carpet in all the rooms I had the displeasure of stating in were worn out and stained. The one room I stayed in with hard wood floors were not clean. There was a layer of dust on it, where if you walked around bare foot you would be covered in dust/​lint/​dirt. In all the kitchens the electric range didn’t work, none of the burners would heat up. The fridge in one of the rooms made an ungodful noise when running and didn’t keep anything cold or make ice, even over night ice wasn’t frozen.
There is also intercom system, that blares warnings at all hours of the day. The system is connected to the fire alarm, so they make an announcement every time it goes off, which is very loud and scares you half to death. There were also some instances where the employees running the intercom would accidentally activate the system, so it would make a loud noise for no reason in the wee hours of the morning, startling you awake for no reason. There is free wifi for the entire building, but it rarely worked anywhere in the building during my stay.
There was mold in the bathrooms, yes in all 3 rooms I stayed in. The shower has anti-​slip coating on it, which was bubbling and peeling up. All the rooms I was in were obviously not cleaned before check in. It appeared as if the only thing done was empty the garbage, empty the fridge of leftovers and nicely arrange the furniture. Another thing I noticed is that there is something wrong with the wiring in the building. It took me 2 hours to get 50% charge in my phone, when at home it takes me that much time if not less to fully charge it from a dead battery.
There is central air, but it’s a huge unit inside the room, not one of the typical units that is affixed to the outer wall or from am exterior unit the feeds the entire building. So the AC re-​circulates the same stale air that is already in the room, and is very loud. The «hotel» never change the AC filters.
The staff at this «hotel» are rude and completely useless. The receptionist, or whoever they had working at the front desk had no idea what she was doing. She had no useful information, was slow to check me in (taking 20 minutes) and seemed annoyed that I was there. This attitude was felt from every person I dealt with at the front desk, it felt like I was inconveniencing them and it was rude of me to make them do their job. They were so slow at the front desk to do simple things, that a line 4 guests deep formed behind me.
There is valet service, which is horrid. They are slow to respond. Valet service is not included on the bill for your entire stay, and it’s not even per day, it’s per entry/​exit. There is 24 hour security, which is needed in Miami, but it’s lackluster at best. They don’t keep people from breaking any rules so people can get away with doing whatever they please anywhere they please. I also saw employees doing drugs on the property on multiple occasions.
The gym and pool are nice, but the people using it ruin it. They break the rules and are loud and obnoxious, hotel staff do nothing about it.

I booked the room online because of the pictures, and the description sounded nice. When I got there it was about 9:30 pm, waited 40 minutes for the girl at the desk to find my reservation. Got up to the room and it was nothing like I expected and the smell of bleach was over powering. Then to top it off the bed was springy and the pillows were flat. Was not a happy camper:-(

We stayed at the Fortune house for four nights. We had breakfast in the restaurant every morning and got the best service. The parking valet was prompt most of the times. Sometimes, you have to find the valet. The check-​in process was ok. We got there a few minutes before 2 PM and she told us if we checked in now there will be additional charges. If we checked in after 2 PM, then it’s the rate that we confirmed. Then, they lost our luggage. We had to go search for them and get them. Check out was a little better. The apartment we rented was in good condition. It was an okay place to stay. Not sure if we will stay there again.

This review is written after time thinking about the service, front desk staff and the overall quality of the property. If I had the abiity to download the photos, I would.
I should have know better…
As a former resident of the area, I would bike by the building and think that it was a great location and if I had the opportunity to stay at the property, I would give it a try. After leaving the Brickell area as a resident and returning for business I made reservations via Expedia for the Fortune House.
After a very tiring business trip, I arrived late in the day to find no one at the front desk. Eventually (about 15 minutes) a very nice young woman shows and asks if I have a reservation I indicate it was made through Expedia. After she obtained my name she started looking through a box of index cards and disappears to the back room, that should have been my first warning.
After returning, in about 5 minutes and getting my drivers license and credit card, she leaves the front desk, and again disappears to the back room. After a wait of say 10 minutes or so she re-​appears and provides my key. Then says ‘at check-​in its the hotel policy to take an additional room night fee as deposit”, so we ran your credit card for the deposit, as I had paid in advance for the night through Expedia ??? The hotel has a 24 hour concellation policy.
I questioned this, as I have never heard of an additional deposit, nor had I ever paid one, then she disappears again, reappears and informs me that my room deposit (one night in advance) is non-​refundable if I do not NOT pay the additional deposit I cannot stay at the hotel, again she said «this is hotel policy». I’m completely exhaisted its 10 PM, I say Ok… …that should have been my second warning.
Eventually after a 20 minute or so check in period, I get to my room. Completely exhausted, and questioning the «Hotel Policy» Opening the room door and immediately I’m startled by the starkness of the room, the condition of the furniture and the lack of upkeep and cleanliness.
Lucky for smartphones with cameras’… I start taking pictures, first of note there was no carpet on the floor whatsoever in this hotel suite and as I’m opening the shower curtain to see if the tub was clean, several little critters started running up the sides of the tub (both tub and toilet) were grimmy. Also, as I walked around the one bedroom with kitchen suite, I noticed there was no bed skirt and you could readily see the mattress box spring that was aged and filthy and the linens on the bed looked dirty crispy…
As I continued circling the rooms, I noticed graffiti carvings in the out of place (early grandma style) wooden furniture in both the living room and bedroom, deep burn marks on the counter in the kitchen, holes in the lamp shades, deep stained (dirty) floors need I go on… I sat on the sofa to observe the living room and the sofa was so sagged, that I had difficulty standing up. The room looked like there was a party (a very serious party) that was cleaned up with a damp sponge (maybe).
I had not un-​packed and of course got on the phone to the front desk. After waiting for over 5 minutes while the phone was ringing, it was eventually answered and I voiced my complaint. The first comment was not, how can we help you, the comment was «you will loose your security deposit». If you move from the room…
Needless to say, I was not interested in sharing the night with the scurrying critters and in sleeping in a very nasty and uncleaned room. I indicated, that I needed another room because of the condition of the room, the comment was there are no others… subsequently… I left the hotel and checked-​in at the Four Seasons, just a block away from this monster.
Folks there is no fortune at the Fortune House. Stay away from this monster and go to the Marriot or Four Seasons for close to the same price.

The room it’s self was great. Kitchen and bathrooms were kinda old but everything else in the room was really nice. As for customer service it was terrible. The manager Simara, I think that’s her name, was extremely unhelpful. We had to wait 1hr and 30mins just to get checked in because she refused to be flexible. Then some friends came to visit and security refused to let them up because there was already 5 people staying in the room. I got the room for my birthday and the hotel literally destroyed my birthday experience.

You get what you pay for. This hotel is decent, relatively affordable, and located in a safe neighborhood that is walkable and close to public transit. I stayed for 4 nights in a large suite on the 26^th floor, which included two flat screen TVs, a patio, a washer/​dryer, full kitchen with dishwasher, and ample storage space. The couch in the living area, which opened into a bed, was comfortable, although the actual bed was not comfortable. WIFI was free, but the connection was poor and did not work in the bedroom. The staff were all friendly. Breakfast was included with my room, although it was not good at all. It included runny eggs, bland pancakes that were probably bought frozen in bulk, some unappealing pastries /​cereals, and two troughs of even more unappealing oatmeal.
The bathroom was sort of dirty, and the housekeeping services were limited. I’d also asked for a wake up call, which did not occur. Although I’d paid for my reservation in full via
, the front desk staff attempted to charge my credit card again at check-​in, and I received charges of about ~$ 12.00 a night for a «resort fee» when checking out.
There are several other hotels in the vicinity of this one that you may want to consider before booking here; however, this hotel is fine for a short stay.

My family visiting from Europe were staying at the Fortune House for 4 nights.
They booked the Hotel Luxury suite online, which included ocean view, safe, desk and breakfast.
1) The Fortune House is not a hotel it is a condo association, where some of the owners of the units rents them as a hotel room.
2) There was no ocean view, but view to their old worm out pool area, no blinds at the window as there used to be as the screws were sticking out of the wall.
3) No safe in the room.
4) The desk consisted of a glass plate with 4 legs attached and metal chair with old cushions.
5) The cabinets were sticky from people cooking food.
6) You could feel every single spring in the mattress.
7) The breakfast had several of things on the menu, missing at buffet.
8) No phone in the room so couldn’t reach my family as their cellphone wasn’t working here.
We complained several times a day and nothing happened.
To people looking for hotels, there are several other hotels at the same price range in the area which is better.

Be very aware if you book this hotel that it is, quite simply, not a hotel. It is a condo association in which some tenants live, and some owners convert their units into hotel rooms. As such, the service is nowhere near what you would expect for a hotel– or even a motel, for that matter. My boyfriend and I stayed at Fortune House for two nights after having bought the groupon. The groupon included daily breakfast and a $ 60 dinner credit to the hotel’s «restaurant.»
We were met with poor service at every turn. In addition, the room wasn’t even that nice– it had a European hostel feel about that, at decidedly not hostel prices. There seemed to be a lot of nickel and diming going on, as well.
We ate at their restaurant for dinner only because we had the dinner credit, but we certainly wish we didn’t. The service at dinner was so bad– forgetting our orders, sniffing the wine to see if it was still good before pouring it with a sour face, terrible food, and just plain strange comments on what we were ordering– that we were literally laughing so hard I was nearly in tears. It was even an ordeal to use our dinner credit– we had to e-​mail the receptionist’s personal e-​mail with a screen shot of our groupon, have her print it out, and show it to the waiter. Ridiculous.
The cleaning staff never refreshed any of the coffee, even though I brewed the single serving on the first day– I simply found that odd.
The final straw to all of this came the morning after the dinner. I was sick as a dog (I’m actually not blaming their restaurant on this– just coincidence), and asked my boyfriend to grab me a croissant or something from the breakfast buffet, as I wasn’t well enough to go downstairs. He came back empty handed, saying that they told him taking anything to the room would be charged as room service. Really? With the spread they offered, there was nothing charge-​worthy.
Bottom line is, if you don’t mind staying in a hostel or a terribly unfriendly environment while paying full hotel prices, then stay at Fortune House. However, you can probably get more bang for your buck at a motel or an actual hostel.

PERFECT FOR A GROUP OUTING. If you’re going to an event at the American Airlines Arena, or if you’re going on a cruise out of Miami, the Fortune House is a PERFECT place to spend a night or two.
I made a reservation for an «executive suite» for two people at a VERY reasonable rate, and I couldn’t believe it when we checked in. Our room turned out to be a two-​bedroom suite on the top (29^th) floor. It was HUGE, and we had an outstanding panoramic view of Biscayne Bay overlooking the Rickenbacker Causeway.
We took a cab to the Arsht Center, which cost about $ 20. To the AA Arena it would be about $ 12. It is also very close to Bayside Marketplace, Port of Miami, and all of the restaurants of Brickell. Valet parking is $ 20.
The room was clean, but it had not been recently renovated. It was very large, neat and comfy, but not eye-​poppingly elegant.
Do not reserve here if your preferred destination is South Beach. It is not close to Ocean Drive.
Our room had a full kitchen, so make sure to hit a grocery store and/​or liquor store before checking in.
