A small spot but the smells are huge! I got to try the smores pie and the key lime. Both were amazing. The servers are nice and there is a wide selection of all kinds of pie slices to try. Great for a dessert while walking through the area.

I wish they had a gluten free option that I could’ve actually tried, but the staff was so friendly. They were patient, and helped me pick some pies out for coworkers. Their recommendations were so on point, and … ~on fire~ Thanks, guys!

Coffee and pies from another world, we had apple and mixed berries with cappuccino which happens to be huge so next time I will share it since it’s the size of a regular soft drink. The place is tiny and most people buy to go but there are three stool bar chairs and a small table with two chairs. The pie’s pastry is thin and flaky with crumbled topping. They also sell cheese cakes, chocolate cake, some croissants, but since the place is famous for their pies that’s what we ordered.

We just had lunch and my wife and parents were deciding on dessert there. I told them lets wait and get dessert elsewhere. Looked on here and saw the reviews and the distance was close by. Easy to find and it seems this is an upcoming neighborhood with trendy art and restaurants popping up. They have a display case that shows what is currently available. Ask if they have any other desserts in the back or refrigerator, just in case. I got the oreo cookies and crème pie which was delicious and decadent. They had pieces and bits of oreos with a fudge and cookies and crème filling. If you are a oreo fan like me, you’ve got to order it. I sampled the Krack pie which was a good taste of caramel with an oatmeal cookie crust. Good thing they don’t have this back home because I would gain a lot of weight coming here everyday.

DELICIOUS !!! We had the key lime pie and the Oreo cheesecake. Both were so rich and amazing. We also had the chicken empanada: pretty dry and not the best I’ve had. Go for the delicious dessert.

The smell of this place alone gives it 5 stars!!! Was in the neighborhood and decided to drop by. So glad I did! They had quite a selection of pies and cookies to try from. But we got an oreo cheesecake pie and a smores pie. Both were outstanding! I need to go back for the quiche and the krack Pie which is their most famous but I wanted some chocolate today. Definitely worth the trip and we burned off calories wall site seeing in Wynwood.

Love this place. The variety of desserts. I can’t get enough. The pies are on point, especially the Key Lime Pie and Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie. The cheesecakes are delicious. I recommend the Guava Cheesecake. I always come back to try items I haven’t tried yet.

Came here the other day with a friend for dessert! Walked into the place and did not expect it to be so tiny but that didn’t matter, the pies are the main attraction. We got the krack pie and coconut custard and wow. Texture was amazing for both, krack was thick and a bit gooey. sooo yummy definitely recommend! The other was so fresh and it had lots of cream which seemed a bit much but it wasn’t! It was so delicious cream and all! Definitely satisfied my sweet tooth WILLCOMEBACK! Be ready to indulge and spend some $$ because it’s not cheap but hey you get what you pay for 4 stars because it was only my first time, kinda freaked at $ 12 for two slices but definitely worth it — not as a regular thing but perfect for when you’re looking to treat yourself!

Ok, yes there is a pie that’s called«crack pie» and there’s all what you need to know. It’s so good you’ll never have enough! Omg the coconut pie! It is the perfect balance of sweet and crunchy with the freshest coconut flavor! Huge fan! Actually everything we’ve had from this place is simply amazing. We drive from north miami all the time to indulge ever time we can! Super recommended and worth it!

It’s sad to admit that once we discovered this place and ordered our slices of heaven that I didn’t have a chance to take pics of our pies. The kids were salivating and couldn’t resist digging in. Our choices were the coconut custard, smore’s and their ‘crack’. My fav was the coconut custard. Least favorite was the crack. Their little location was bustling and had constant traffic. Definitely worth coming back to try their pot pies and quiches.

As with everything in life, what goes up must come down. The same goes when your new and eager to please customers, when you get established the eagerness of customer satisfaction takes a back seat because quantity comes before quality. When we first started coming out here it was nice, made 2 – 3 trips a week, Derek was in the back 80% of time then. I haven’t seen him in months, I’m sure my decline in his desserts(and weekly trips) attribute to that. Nonetheless seems the slices are much smaller. Have you seen Derek? This is a sample size for a man of his stature! Come on Derek! Seriously??? It’s the size of my Chapstick! I will drive the extra 50 miles to The Blonde Giraffe where the slices are for grown-ups & they include the whip cream or merengue at no extra charge.

Wow! Where do we start? Wynwood? Firefighter? Pie(in Florida)? Been watching Derek’s rising star for a while and cheering for a brother firefighter on the sidelines. We are an adaptive bunch, but every now and then, one does a quantum leap in creativity. Sure, fire houses are known to harbor great cooks. My father(retired Battalion chief) said dinner was the one positive thing we could always look forward to each shift. A gifted firehouse chef bring a bonding unlike any other. This is Wynwood, a special spot in Miami, where you can bring a vision to life and share with those who are edgy enough to wander about looking for those shimmering vision of passion. Pie!!! Really?!? Pie. A cult in most of America… some how completely not even part of the conversation in South Florida(except for maybe Denny’s) Talk about a wide open playground. Pie is an obsession in many parts of rural America, yet Derek brings his A game with a completely new interpretation of Pie from the lens of Miami, without any cliché stereotype. Nope, this is true playing with food. So what brought me here today? A victory in Downtown Miami for a disabled firefighter, hunger and a urge to bring something back to the Union Hall that was extra special. Looking for inspiration, I fired up Unilocal and realized I had FDWFP bookmarked forever. Seriously! Made a beeline, had a great little late breakfast and coffee and brought back a coconut pie for our secretary who is retiring after 19 years of service for our Local. She has been the heartbeat of L1403, with so many who have come, gone, gotten married, divorced, retired and/or passed away. Our moral compass, when things get heated. I could not think of anything finer for Virginia. For this day, Derek was the superstar of our Local, by our most beloved. Thank you for putting your passion out there for the rest of us to savor. Stay safe and stay low.

I have yet to have a bad pie or other dessert at Fireman Derek’s. Everything is good. Service is really friendly and the staff is universally helpful. The store is very tiny, so probably actually eating your treats there isn’t a great idea, although they do have a outside table too(if it’s cool enough or not raining). The interior — though small — is very cute and homey with tons of character, if a bit of tchochke overload. As I write this, we’re taking home a mint cookie chocolate mousse pie, a pecan pie and a whiskey sticky bun that we’ll eat over the next few days to avoid a calorie and sugar coma. In the past, we’ve also had their key lime pies and cheesecakes. Again, never had a bad one — although if you are like my wife and I and don’t like very sweet desserts, ask the staff to help you out, because a good number of their treats are very sweet.

Since we had lunch at Sugarcane nearby(Sakaya Kitchen is also by here), we decided to make the trek over to Fireman Derek’s and check out their pies. It wasn’t crowded around 3pm on a Saturday, but they only had a slice or two of some of their pies/cakes, so make sure you call ahead or come early if there is something specific you want to try. I wish they had clearer signage on what each pie was, since you had to ask or guess. We tried: –Crack Pie( ): Yum! This version was sweet, but not as sweet as other ones I’ve had in the past. I loved the chewy texture of the filling and the crisp crust– highly recommended! –Guava & White Chocolate Chip Cookie: This cookie was definitely sweet, but it was crispy on the edges and chewy inside, so perfect for me. I loved the guava, which was unique for me, and I also love white chocolate so would definitely get this again. The bakery is on the smaller side, but they have a small table inside and some counter seats. They also have two small tables outside also. I will definitely be back in the future to try their other pies/cakes! We walked over here, but there seemed to be some street parking on this street and nearby streets.

Stopped by Fireman Derek’s for the first time this weekend. The store is located in the heart of Wynwood and was easy to identify by the line formed outside the door. The line to get into the tiny store moved SO slowly. After twenty minutes in line, we made it to the counter to order. FYI only one person was taking orders. I think Fireman Derek could really speed up the sales process at the counter by having more than one person working at peek hours. The inside of Fireman Derek’s is small and rustic. Chalkboards on the wall detail the menu options, and a glass display case holds the pies(baked fresh daily!) There is also a kitchen in the back where pies and other treats are constantly being baked and brought to the front. Pie is served daily on a first come, first serve basis. If they’re out, they’re out. In addition to many varieties of pie, Fireman Derek also sells cookies, brownies, donuts, pound cakes, and other treats. Some flavors on display: cheesecake, pecan pie, blueberry pie, s’mores pie, whoopee pie, coffee cake, chocolate/pretzel donuts, oatmeal/chocolate/double chocolate cookies, red velvet cake, brownies, coffee cake and more. And they also serve Panther coffee! I tried the double chocolate cookie which was pretty delicious. Not the best cookie I’ve ever eaten, but I’d definitely eat one again :) I want to come back to try the pies. Rumors has it that the crack pie and key lime pie are the crowd favorites. The s’mores pie also looked pretty good for any chocolate lovers.

So I never really liked flan, but Fireman Derek said his was good and then I saw a Burgie award for best flan from Burger Beast, so I figured I’d get a little one and try it. It was freakin awesome. Best flan I’ve ever had by far. I can’t even describe how good it was, plus it’s Gluten-Free which there aren’t many dessert options without gluten. The flan was so good that I’m talking about it first even before the pie, which is the best in the world. I’ve tried the cherry, blueberry and salty monkey. Cherry and blueberry were the best of their kinds I’ve had. The crust was perfect little flaky sweet crumbley toppings and the filling was just perfect. The salty monkey is a banana chocolate peanut butter pie with pretzels. It was ridiculous. I still need to try the crack pie. I don’t know why I haven’t. I might go tomorrow. Plus, Fireman Derek is awesome. He bought Girl Scout cookies from my daughter and I can’t wait to try what he does with them. This is a must stop when you go to Wynwood.

Absolutely delicious and I can’t wait to go back! I’ve passed by here a few times but it was always closed. Although I was pretty stuffed from eating bbq at Pride and Joy next door, this was the perfect time to stop by and get a pie. There were a handful of pies on display(key lime, smores, coconut, crack) and I settled on the guava cheesecake. It was as delicious as it looked; very moist, soft texture, and really tasted like guava. I will definitely return and recommend that you give it a try! Slices are $ 5 – 6 and whole pies $ 27& up. Street parking.

It literally shatters my heart to give this place four stars and not five, but unfortunately it’s well deserved. Let’s start off with parking, parking isn’t bad there’s quite a few spots located in the back of the restaurant. Costumer service was great, Derek himself was there to talk about the pies and informed us a little about the restaurant. The place itself is a bit small but me and my friend were the only ones there so it wasn’t a problem, I would say about two tables inside with a little bar eating area and two outdoor tables. Maybe sitting about 10 people total. Now as for the pies what can I say the crack pie really does take after its name. That’s addicting off course, ummm still daydreaming with this pie and waiting for it to be thanksgiving so I can introduce it to my friends and family. Now he’s the reason for the four stars instead of five, other than the crack pie off course I feel as if this place is judged strictly on hype and not on quality. All the other pies had extremely hard and almost inedible crust. So dear Derek, work on that crust and my heart and wallet are all yours. Xo, D
