History

Established in 1992.

Divorce Without War® was founded in 1992 by Gerald S. Deutsch to provide couples with an inexpensive and peaceful alternative to litigated divorce. As an established divorce attorney and Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator, he was dissatisfied with the lack of resources available to couples seeking an alternative to litigated divorce.

Today, the program is credited with helping thousands of couples achieve a peaceful, affordable and legally smart divorce. Divorce Without War® has received national attention for its success and Jerry has been on many radio and television programs to discuss mediation and divorce reform.

In 2007 Jerry joined forces with Helen Stein, Esq. an experienced attorney and mediator, who opened her own Divorce Without War® office in Miami, Florida. In 2012, Jerry sold the national rights for Divorce Without War® to Helen and Tom Cromer, her business partner. Together with Stein, Cromer is working to bring a dignified process to couples nationwide.

Helen Stein, Esq. S.

Business Owner

Helen Stein is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family and Dependency Law Mediator. Helen earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. John’s University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Ithaca College. She is a member of the New York State Bar, the Florida State Bar, and is a state-​certified Parenting Coordinator and a member of the Collaborative Family Law Institute.

For many years, Helen served in leadership roles in organizations whose missions are to provide legal representation to abused and neglected children. She has been an invited presenter at several conferences regarding children’s rights, including the Governor’s Commission for the Unmet Legal Needs of Children and The Florida Bar Children’s Legal Services Conference.

In 2005, Helen opened a divorce mediation business, which later became affiliated with Divorce Without War®. Beginning in 2007 to the present, she has owned and operated a Divorce Without War® franchise in Coral Gables, Florida.
