Pork Fried Rice here is OUTSTANDING. Great, smoky flavor and one serving is plenty for two adults/one teen. General Tso’s is also fantastic and plenty of food. Worth the ride and price.

New to the South Miami area, but not new to Miami in general, my husband and I were looking for a new Chinese delivery place and decided to give this a try. When I called to place the order, the lady who answered was extremely rude and kept interrupting me every time I tried to speak. It’s Miami, so that doesn’t offend me as much as it would in other places… if that makes sense. Fast forward 2 hours, after being told our food would be delivered in 45 – 60 minutes, and still no food. When I called the lady back to ask about our order, she was again rude, unapologetic, and offered no reason for the delay; only said it was on its way. The food FINALLY arrived and the only pleasant thing was the delivery driver. He was nice and seemed genuinely sorry for the delay. The food, on the other hand, was pretty bad. The sweet and sour chicken was dry, just like the random ribs the meal came with. Overall, everything was room temperature with no remaining heat; you’d hope delivery food would be warm at a minimum. Based on overall experience, the food, and combination of bad reviews I ignorantly dismissed to try it for myself… we will not order from here again.

As a pharmaceutical rep, I am constantly hosting lunches. I am very pleased with the not only the food but also with the service. They’re always on time, and never forget an item. I usually order a sushi platter, vegetable fried rice, Mongolian beef, teriyaki chicken with broccoli, salad, and Thai donuts for dessert. My clients really enjoy the food, and the sushi platter is always a winner!

Nice décor and ambient. Went there on a Friday evening and started getting packed rather quickly. Food is a little on the pricy side, ordered the combination dinner platters to have a taste of most of their dishes(soup, chow mein, fried rice and choice of main side). They are generous with their pork in the chow mein. Huge chunks. But on the first try, the pork had a really porky taste– the kind you get from unfresh meat. Same for the pepper steak. The egg fuyoung was ok, nothing special, and honestly, kinda small. I’ve had way better egg fuyoung, with triple or quadruple the size for less than the price here. Not sure if all their food are that way, but it was REALLY salty! It was almost difficult to finish my meal. Those who are watching their sodium intake should definitely steer clear of this place.

Been living in So. Miami for 6 years living 2 mins from this restaurant and it’s really disappointing how the quality has decreased in the last 2 years. Ordered it tonight and it was horrible. The special fried rice was so bad I had to toss it out. I won’t be going back until I hear it has vastly improved.

Once upon a time… This Canton location was the go to Chinese Restaurant… I have been coming here longer than I care to admit. The Canton Steak was a favorite of my friends and I. We would laugh, smile eat and enjoy. The ambience used to be great and there would always be a wait and it was worth it… flash forward to present day and this place is merely a skeleton of what it used to be. Both times I have been there. a cricket orchestra was playing. When we arrived both times circa 7 – 8 pm, we were the only souls there. The owners have not done much to remodel the place and though sometimes kitschy flair can be great, in this instance it is not. Our waitresses have been moderately polite, but nothing out of the ordinary. The food was utterly disgusting. On both occasions, I gave the lettuce wraps a chance and was greeted with flavorless meat and wilted lettuce… on the second visit(I was wishing the time prior was a fluke) I ordered the curry chicken and it too was flavorless. Do you know how much of an effort one has to put forth, or lack thereof to make curry chicken bland? Please oh please someone buy this place and restore it back to it’s nostalgic former glory! I now order take-out from Asian Kitchen a wonderful little place with great delivery area. Don’t waste your time or money with Canton… you will surely be disappointed!

I have to say one thing this place I don’t know how they become this far but I usually don’t have bad comments or really about comments and reviews but this one got under my skin it’s about passed 11pm on a Wednesday June 17, 2015 we arrive we say hello the waiter sat us right away without smiling felt a little un welcome at first so I went to the rest room and she imminent gave us menus took our order since it’s slow we are the only ones here anyways so I was happy until 8 minutes go by she hasn’t put the tea so we asked nicely to get us some tea she kept walking away like if she didn’t awknoledge us eventually she did came with a attitude put one cup instead of two knowing there two guests she left and was playing in her phone I guess waiting for our food to arrive and she gave us the food right away it looks good and tastes good but I said thank you and she didn’t say it back it felt so awkward and to be honest the food is amazing to be American Chinese but I don’t think I’ll ever come back just for that insignificant Incidents that comes into bad habits I believe in improvement thanks.

My best bud Ly chhoy took me here for some grub and sure enough the dining experience was unparalleled! Not only did we enjoy crab rangoons and Ly Chhoy’s personal favorite Chinese chicken, but we also came to major life realizations! Special thanks to Chinese Restaurant from Miami Mindfulness!

I went there for lunch on a weekday. The restaurant had just opened, so it was empty. I ordered the pepper steak with chicken fried rice. The pepper steak was nothing special, and the fried rice was horrible. The rice seemed to be par-boiled not steamed, and it had no flavor. The chicken in the rice was dry and tasteless. The restaurant was empty, however I still felt rushed. I wanted a nice relaxing tasteful lunch and I got neither. will not be going back

I’ve given this spot so many chances. Never had a single plate I liked. I’ve even brought friends and they have said the same. You can find better spots in the area.

Went in on Friday evening, the ambience looked worn out and not clean. Ordered honey chicken combination platter and vegetable lo mein. The portions were huge. Honey chicken was horrible, overbearingly sweet, the quality of chicken was very BAD! Almost wanted to throw up. The vegetable lo mein was delicious and that is why 2 stars. The service was pathetic.

The staff is friendly but the food is mediocre. I think they use whole wheat noodles which makes their noodle dishes dry and un-flavorful. This spot used to be so so good but has kind of declined in recent years. I still like their honey chicken but I’m hesitant to order much else. The portions are all big and made to be family style. Their sushi is run by sushi maki, I’ve never had an issue with the sushi; it’s consistently good. I live very close and the delivery can take up to an hour at times.

Wellllll, Ive been here several times, as you can see I am the Duchess, but last night my son and I had a not so great experience with the food… We ordered a California Roll which was good as expected. And to be honest, I haven’t had a bad experience with their Sushi. However, we also ordered a noodles and shrimp dish out of the dinner menu. The picture looked scrumptious! The succulent shrimp, those soft, tasty noodles… unfortunately, the noodles were dry, the dish didn’t have much taste at all, and there were maybe 6 noodles in the big, entire plate! So disappointing.:( I will say our server was friendly and attentive for the most part so i wouldn’t give them 2 start because the sushi was good, not great but good enough…

The honey chicken was hideous. It was like eating deep fried chicken jerky covered in a honey hinted sauce. I wanted to like this place and rarely leave bad reviews, but I will not be eating there again.

But-but-but-it used to be sooooooo good. I’ve been eating here since I was a kid but now… the food just doesn’t taste the same. Yes I moved away for several years… maybe there are different people running it. I had lunch delivered yesterday and it was not their best. A few months ago I also had lunch delivered and it was not their best(at which point I decided to take a break). On more than one occasion the rice quality was fair. The peas in my veggie fried rice were mostly hard. Maybe it cooked a little more in the Styrofoam container during the delivery process. The time before that I ordered white rice and it was hard… like it was from the night before(I had ordered like 15 mins after they opened so perhaps a fresh batch hadn’t been finished yet)…I had to throw it away. The time before that the shrimp in my shrimp fried rice tasted DIFFERENT. They were pinker and not as fresh tasting as they usually are. It looked like they ran out of the shrimp they usually use for this particular dish. Maybe the suppliers sent the wrong ones. Typically they are big and succulent but that time they tasted like they came from the lake in my back yard, lol. And they were just piled on top like an after thought-the container could barely close! For the first time ever the honey chicken didn’t taste fresh either. I actually picked one apart to make sure it wasn’t dark meat because something was off. Batter wasn’t it’s usual crispiness either… wait a few pieces were crispy… one was EXTRA crispy and the rest soft. It was the most random assortment. Apparently my mother was right-ask for extra soy sauce. The delivery guy was cool… this time. The attention to detail has changed. Quality-changed. Consistency-changed. If I had written this review 12 years ago it would’ve been five stars. No doubt. Today I wanted to round up to four stars but nostalgia can only get you so far. Three and a half until things change for the better. On the plus side the portion size is usually great and the prices are good!

This place rocks for Chinese food. Portions are huge. The taste is delicious. I had the fridge rice beef. It was fluffy & tiny little crunchies. The beef was tender & a lot of chunks mixed into the rice. Love it

The place is just foul. I could have eaten better at a Chinese Buffett. The quality of the food is just shamelessly subhuman. I’m a little worried that this place is still open for business. I need epicac after what I have just consumed. The canton steak is a big fat joke.

From a very young age I was raised to treat Chinese food like a food group. I cannot even attempt to count the number of wonton soups consumed, nor the amount of fortune cookies broken to reveal a glimpse of future promises. Even though I was a Broward denizen for many years, often times I would stop in here on my family’s annual pilgrimage to walk around the Falls(as we always loved seeing it all lit up for the holidays). Needless to say, I am no stranger to Chinese food, nor to this particular restaurant. So when I was craving some egg foo young, I decided to give my old stomping grounds a visit after far too long a hiatus. First impression was that it was basically the same, however, I noted a Sushi Maki counter had been added. A little odd, and disconcerting, since usually when a place tried to merge two cuisines it leads to mediocre results, but I wasn’t there for sushi anyways. The décor isn’t trendy or chic, but it feels like a comfortable. The lunch special egg foo young came with soup(which could be upgraded to wonton for $ 1), one pork egg foo young, and then a side of chow mein. I placed my order, looking forward to devouring the wonton soup(which I had also had delivered to me recently when sick and thoroughly enjoyed). Anyways, about 5 minutes later my waitress came back and asked me if I knew what chow mein was. She gave me a look like I had just ordered vermin, to which I replied that I did indeed know what it was. «It’s like all veggies» she cautioned. Well, yeah, I can handle that. Do I look like I’m veggie intolerant or something? She finally convinced me to add another pork egg foo young for $ 1, ok fine, I like egg foo young anyways. Even though it was the middle of the week and the place wasn’t that busy, it took quite some time. The soup came out, decent, but kind of cold. Then, as the mains arrived, the waitress then cleared my soup(including my soup spoon and the rest of my silverware), and then stood over me watching as I tried to pour my gravy over the dish. Why yes, I would like some more silverware since you took mine. Again though, odd service quirks I can deal with so long as the food is good. Here is where it really went downhill. The fried rice was dessicated and bland without a doubt, however, what really soured me was the egg foo young. It was burned. I’m not taking a light golden, stove-kissed tan, but a full on charred-to-a-crisp black. Also, while it was chock full of pork and sprouts, the meat was incredibly gristly. Not cool. Hoping the incident was perhaps just an off day, I did give it another try to go one evening, with similarly atrocious results. While I’m still hoping I just need to learn what to order(since I have quite a bit of childhood nostalgia associated with the place), so far, I’m just not that impressed. Crossing my fingers they work on their tableside manner, and that they bring the quality back up.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid — it was one of my family’s favorite places to eat Chinese(well, Miami-Chinese food). Although my relatives don’t have advanced palates, I have to say that they hit it out of the park with this one. I’m glad I was exposed to this particular Canton as a child, if not I may have never discovered it. Service is always great, but I’m partial to being seated with Lily. She is an excellent server. Very attentive and very friendly if you chat her up. Otherwise, she’ll make sure you get everything you need, but stay out of your way. Canton is the one of the only places that still serves quality egg rolls, wonton soup, and bbq spareribs. The egg rolls are the fat ones, that actually really include pork and shrimp, and don’t have that cinnamon-y taste that the cheaper Chinese restaurants tend to serve. I’m partial to eating them with a soy sauce-hot mustard mixture I concoct at the table, but most people seem to like them with duck sauce. The wonton soup is very flavorful and full of pork wontons, roast pork, and scallions. The spareribs are Flinstones huge, and very flavorful, unlike the sauceless ones at lesser Chinese joints. Staples such as fried rice, honey chicken, chow mien, lo mien, and chop suey are all good. Now here is where I get serious. The Canton steak, which my niece dubbed«dream steak» is FANTASTIC. It comes in two sizes, junior and regular. The junior size is good for two people and the regular feeds about four. The steak is delicious, drizzled with oyster sauce, and sits on a bed of sizzling vegetables. I ask for a couple of bucks of extra vegetables just because they taste so good and compliment the steak so well. With the Canton steak you don’t even need fried rice. It goes VERY well with the accompanying order of free white rice. This is a great restaurant that is miles above the average Chinese restaurant in Miami. Bonus #1: Canton serves excellent sushi. Bonus #2: Open late, usually until midnight.
