I have been going to Dr Woodby since 1995. I wish they were open 7 days a week. The staff is great!

Dr. Woodby is great but there is a disconnect with him and his staff. Information relayed to me from the doctor thru his staff is often inaccurate. It seems that the office is disorganized and chaotic.

Thank God for this vet and to the Unilocal reviewers. Our newly adopted shelter kitty was very sick and thanks to the reviewers I decided to go to Colusa Animal Hospital. Dr. Woodby explained the situation and advised against unnecessary tests and expenses. Dr. Woodby gave our kitty a few shots, medicine and a special diet (no chicken products; only fish) and now he’s doing so much better. I’m very thankful to the friendly staff who got me an immediate appointment and to Dr. Woodby who treated us with personal attention. We definitely will be lifelong customers.

Having been taking our 2 cats here for about 2 years now. Marty and Emmett are a little nervous when they need to go to the vet. But Dr Ashby is great and very gentle. They always have appointments available and they dont give you the run around. It’s awesome to have a great vet nearby.

I took my dog here for a check up they are very prof and polite. Office is very clean and you are in and out pretty fast. Prices are pretty fare as well. I will continue to bring my dog here. There is also always parking.

Really nice place. I have a Rottweiler. He loves going over there. Staff is very client friendly. although a large place, they are timely and it does not feel noice.

We just came back from Calusa Crossing Animal Hospital. Dr. Woodby and all his personnel were very caring and gentle while treating our dog. This was our first time here and we were pleased by the services we received. We plan on continuing to come here.

Dr. Woodby is extremely accurate, caring and passionate about his work. He treats our 4 legged babies as patients not «things». He is what I would consider the Dr. Doolittle of modern day. The staff and Dr. Woodby have won my families heart. We are certain to keep him as our family vet. We are very fortunate to have found him!

Love this place. Staff is friendly. The male vet takes his time answering all my questions. Prices are really good. Convenient hours is a plus.

I am so thankfull for Docters like Dr. woodby, ive been trying to chalange a big issue with my 12 year old Mastiff, too make a long strory short, Dr Woodby gave me hope and solution for my dog (family menber). When three other vets gave up said she was old to just put her to rest. I went to see woodby and just when i thought he would say the same he looked at my dog and said shes so full of life despite her age, he took ona very delicate surgery that he could of just denied to do. Her surgery was two hours and four people working on my 150 lb BABY! Dr. Woodby called me as soon as surgery was done and reasurred me that all went well. I am so thankfull for Dr woodby because my dogs situation was very serious and now I have more time with my dog and I know that if anything that Dr. Woodby really put his experience, heart, & love for these animales. I dont know how else to thank him so i hope this posting will help others. Dr. woodby is the best vet ever!!! Thank you so much !! Tania & sasha

This vet who I have used for many years would not speak to me but have his receptionists call me about my dog. I am busy also and if we are his patients he needs to personally speak to me. Changing vets!

I started coming here when I bought my Vizsla puppy and couldn’t be happier. From the first moment you walk in the office is nice and clean, no nasty smells or anything you usually get in other veterinary clinics which is a great start because it demonstrates already that they keep their work area clean.
The staff is amazing, they’re all soooo nice! The front desk secretaries are always extremely nice, answer all your questions and are more than happy to help you out with anything you could ask for.
When you get called into the room you are called in by the Vet Techs who take the weight, and give a quick physical and ask questions prior to the doctor seeing you. I’m surprised at how much these Vet Techs know! Not trying to insult vet techs but I’ve been to veterinary clinics where they don’t know anything but I’ll start explaining what’s happening and they already start assuming what they think it might be and surely enough the doctor will most likely confirm it when he comes in. They’re not just knowledgable but extremely nice people too, you can tell they honestly have a love for animals and an interest in learning to care for them.
Dr. Woodby is by far the most awesome vet I’ve been too. He is one of those guys that looks at your animal and already knows what’s wrong. Not one of those guys who has to charge you 100 tests in order to tell you your dog has a rash. He loves interacting with the patients and is so nice in general. He explains everything thoroughly and helps you understand. My puppy honestly loves this man, she doesn’t mind going to the vet at all!
If you truly wish for an amazing staff and amazing doctor come to Calusa Animal Hospital. Guarantee you will have a great visit!

My family and I have been bringing our pets to Dr. Woodby for years so it was only natural for me to trust him with spaying our 5 year old princess, Iny. Sure, neutering/​spaying at a vet is always going to be more expensive than doing it at the shelter but my dog is so sensitive when around other animals and people, I didn’t want to put more stress on her. Although the surgery took longer than usual because she was still swollen from her last cycle (I don’t recommend anyone spaying their dog under these circumstances), Dr. Woodby and his staff did a terrific job. He really cares about each animal that steps through his door and, more importantly, he’s straight to the point and tells you what you need to hear, whether you like it or not.
If you’re looking for a new vet, look no further.

Dr. Woodby is by far one of the most knowledgeable, practical and reasonable veterinarians I have ever met. Between the excellent staff and great bedside manner of the Dr. I will be taking my pets here until he retires. He managed to give my cat who was suffering from cancer 2 more good years with simple, inexpensive treatment after I had been recommended by another vet to put her to sleep. For that as well, I shall forever be grateful.
Also, Dr. Woodby is a very straight shooter and will not try to take your wallet to the cleaners. His practicality and Tennessee country accent are well worth the visit.

The service and care they provide is absolutley next to none. They truly care about animals and about what they do as a profession. Dr. along with office staff member, Maria, came after hours to make sure my Cocker Spaniel, Cookie Lee was comfortable and was given proper care to make it to the next morning. I will never forget what they have done for my pet. I will drive all the way from Miami Lakes just so that my pet can be seen by these two doctors who truly care and hands down deserve the business. Thank you and continue on with much success.

If you have any pet, that needs a vet or sick and needs to be taken care of – this is the place for you. I have just started taking my dog here. We were recommend here by our hair dresser, who has been coming here for years. I now see why. The people here are AMAZING. Like Hannah S. said they put the animals first. You’re not going to feel like another number here. You’re a person and your pet is a pet.
I had to take my dog here for a check up after having two visits to the local pet emergency clinic. The ladies who help us, took GREAT care of my dog. They were very careful – since he has a history of spinal problems – and made sure that he was okay and safe. My dog felt really comfortable with them. He wanted them to keep touching him, lol.
Plus, when we had questions over the phone and in person, they did not feel annoyed. They really listen and helped us. Some of them bring their dogs to work. So when you’re talking to them, they know what you’re talking about and how you feel about their dog. Another thing I liked about the place was the adopt/​lost dog bulletin board in the lobby. They post updates about the animals if they’re adopted or found. You can’t miss it.
Just know when you come here, you’re going to be okay and your pet is going to be taken care of.

Since I work in rescue, I’ve been to a LOT of vets in the Miami area. And frankly, I’ve been unimpressed by most of them. Until I met Dr. Woodby. He was recommended by a friend, and I am SO glad I decided to start taking my babies here.
The great thing about Dr. Woodby is his attitude towards medicine. Like human doctors, there are those who over-​prescribe and over-​medicate (Often with the aim of making more money, but not really caring about the animals’ well-​being. That was the case at Banfield, and many other vets I’ve been to over the years.). Dr. Woodby, on the other hand, is caring, sensible and totally trustworthy.
I know he always has Luigi & Bailey’s best interest in mind — not his pocketbook.
He was the FIRST vet to tell me Luigi had allergies, even though they should have caught it years ago. And he’s gentle and sweet with my babies. His knowledge means he can often spot animals’ issues just by looking, another indication of his extensive experience. I totally recommend him. My only qualm is that it’s pretty far from South Miami. Luckily, my dogs are pretty healthy. :)

Dr. Woodby is the BEST.
I would travel far and wide to come here, and do now that I’ve moved.
Aside from him being a great guy, you can tell he truly loves animals. Getting his start from a family farm, and as he told me the story once, giving birth to cows and horses there, he chose to become a vet soon after.
I had an incident with the Pet Food Recall of 2009 (was it then?) and my 16 year old dog ate cans of poisoned Nutra pet food that had been recalled at PetSmart but still placed on the shelf anyways. He did EVERYTHING he could, wrote statements for lawsuits, gave clear explanations of what treatments were best and needed, explained all the medical terminology in an understandable way, housed her for 2 weeks on IV drip in the back while I visited her daily, and finally — gave her one extra year of her life — after this kidney failure ordeal.
He is 100% awesome, I can totally guarantee it. While his personality can sometimes be upfront and blunt, he tells you like it is. And when the time has come, he’ll tell you too.
The staff is very friendly, the hospital is very clean. The pricing is average and much cheaper compared to other places I’ve been (Knowles, Alton Road, Petsmart). They are also open Saturday mornings and afternoon, which works great for my schedule.

I give this place 2 stars because I cannot take away from the fact that Dr Woodby, the vet who owns this place, really is like Dr Doolittle with the animals. He talks to them like they’re people.
HOWEVER, I will never go back to him again. When I adopted my beautifully awesome dog, Sandy, from Miami Dade Animal Services, she came down with something a few days after coming home. She was coughing, sneezing, green stuff coming out of her nose, etc. I decided I’d take her to the vet since I used to take my cat there, had no problem with them at the time.
I walked in with my dog Sandy, the vet came in, took ONE look at Sandy and said to me «green stuff coming out of a dog’s nose only means one thing: canine distemper. Your dog’s not gonna make it. Sorry» He never ran one test, never looked at her ears, nothing. I left there, in tears, thinking my new puppy was going to die. It was terrible.
Then I switched vets and got a second opinion.
My dog Sandy is now a healthy, happy 2 year old dog :)
