The studio creates fine art, jewelry and design objects, as well as art project development. Visits welcome by appointment only.
History
Established in 2004.
in 1993 artist Alette Simmons-Jimenez relocated her studio to Miami after residing and working in the Dominican Republic for 18 years. In 2004 she opened Artformz, an alternative exhibition venue for emerging local artists in the Miami Design District and later in 2008 relocated the space to the Wynwood Arts District. In 2011 once again the artist space evolved and moved to a new space a few blocks away. Currently the artist concentrates on her personal studio work and selected projects. Information on the artist’s daily practice and nomadic projects can be found on the internet.

Business Owner
The artist Alette Simmons-Jimenez was born in Madison, Wisconsin, has lived in several different countries, and currently resides and works in Miami, Florida. She received a BFA from Newcomb College of Tulane University in New Orleans.
She has won several fellowships and grants from institutions such as the FL Department of State, Miami-Dade Division of Cultural Affairs, the Knight Foundation, Optica International in Spain, the Mobile Museum of Art, The National Association of Women Artists in NY, the Renaissance Center in Tennessee, and 1st Prize in Video at the National Biennial of the Museo de Arte Moderno in the Dominican Republic.
The artist has been actively involved in the growing Miami art and cultural scene for 15 years. She has been mentoring and directing artistic collaborations since 2004 and has created, curated and produced numerous exhibitions, including 2 editions of «Small Wonderz Art Salon», and «Giants in the City» a 2008 Knight Arts Challenge winning project.
