Comfort Suites Miami Airport North

Chose this hotel because of Unilocal reviews. Visiting family in Miami and they tried to talk us out of the reservation because the surroundings are fairly desolate and they perceived dangerous. We trusted Unilocal and kept the reservation. When we arrived shortly before midnight, the surroundings did not «comfort» me; only restaurants are McDonald’s and a pitiful looking Subway. However, I didn’t choose this hotel on nearby fine dining, so I tried not to be made uncomfortable by the sparse surroundings. There is not much parking, but we managed. Walking into the lobby made me feel a bit better because all was clean and well kept. Then I just about had a very public meltdown because the front desk computer showed all vacant but dirty rooms! Not, not, NOT happy. Waited 45 minutes for the lone security guard to locate clean rooms for the multiple people checking in. When we were FINALLY given room keys, we proceeded to a large, conveniently laid out, clean and comfortable room. Couldn’t have been happier unless I’d figured out how to block the various slivers of light shining in from windows and doors. The hot, extensive breakfast was delicious and even the coffee was good. Second night was just as comfortable as the first. Frankly, even though this is a more budget driven, fewer amenities hotel, I would have given 5 stars if the check in process had been as smooth as the remainder of the experience.

Stayed here one night after our cruise. Room appeared nice and roomy. Pool was small but in good shape. Left too early for breakfast, but noticed it looked pretty good as they were setting up. Staff was very friendly.
This hotel would have received 4 – 5 stars if I had not looked under the bed. There was a plethora of garbage under the bed including a Bic lighter. Doubt it was vacuumed in weeks/​months.
Before our cruise, we stayed at the Clarion right down the street. Even with the dirty room, I recommend Comfort Inn over the Clarion for the price.

I spent three nights here because I was working at Miami International Airport and the Miami Air Traffic Control Center. The hotel is conveniently located between both places, so it worked out great for me. I was met at MIA by a very courteous and profession shuttle driver, and an equally courteous and professional front desk staff. The room was spacious, extremely clean, and had a VERY comfortable bed. Breakfast each morning was filling. You had your choice of the standard buffet items, but the eggs and sausages were better here than at other places. A swim in the outdoor pool was perfect after a long day of work.
The dining options in the neighborhood are very limited. I am a big walker, so it did not bother me to walk 1.5 miles to find a decent restaurant. That is the only drawback if you plan on staying here for any length of time. It seems that most of the guests stay here pre-​cruise, so they may only be staying one night.
Checkout was easy, and the desk clerk at that time was also professional and courteous. All-​in-​all, the hotel worked out perfectly for my needs.

Hotel is OK. Parking Lot Security and Manager are Terrible. Don’t leave a nice vehicle in the parking lot overnight. We parked our 2015 F-​250 Ford truck in the parking lot around 9 p.m. after check-​in in a well-​lit area close to the building, and with a security camera pointed straight at it. We had been told when we checked in that the hotel parking lot had security cameras, a security guard patrolled the premises during the night, and gates that were closed at night. The following morning at around 7 a.m., I went out to the truck to load something and noticed that the tailgate lock had been vandalized and broken, apparently in an attempt to steal the tailgate. Because this happens to Ford trucks, I have an extra bracket installed on the inside that makes the tailgate harder to steal, so they weren’t able to remove it, just damage it. I reported the incident to the person working the front desk and was given the name of the hotel manager, and was told that he would call me on my cell when he came in later that morning and had a chance to look at the hotel security cameras. The next day, after not receiving a phone call, I spoke to the same person again, who assured me they had left my information with the manager, and would relay the message and my contact information again when he came in. I never received a call from the manager or anyone else at the hotel. I was not expecting any type of compensation, but I was expecting acknowledgment and an apology from the management about what had happened. Also, I looked for the security guard and never saw him, I never saw the parking lot gates closed, and I’m not so sure the security cameras are recording, since the manager never contacted me. With so much supposed security, why would someone even attempt this? Unless the security is implied but not real, and the thieves have figured this out. We travel all over the U.S. and we try to stay at Choice Hotels whenever possible, and we have never had anything like this happen before. We will not be staying there again. The hotel itself is OK, and not in a bad area of Miami, although it could be more attractive, but we are very disappointed in both what happened and the complete lack of response from the management

Sometimes I wonder how some reviews say things are the very best, and then others say it was the worst. It’s hard to find anything that is always perfect, but to complain that the hotel didn’t have any milk for your baby because you forgot to bring any, when the store is only across the street from the hotel, or that the bartender was new on the job, is ludicrous.
Here’s my experience with Comfort Suites Miami Airport North. Nice spacious room, clean, nice furniture, soft bed, soft pillows, desk, big shower, TV with lots of channels, sofa, etc. Is it perfect? No, but it was outstanding and worth a 5-​star. We left a nice tip for the maid service, (did you?). All the staff was very friendly and helpful. If they weren’t friendly with you, maybe it was your attitude. The shuttle and drivers were great and professional. We tipped them $ 5, but I saw only one other couple that even tipped them.
We were here at 3 pm, and were allowed in to our room. They gave us extra time in our room, since our shuttle for the pier was at noon. The breakfast was good and the coffee was outstanding. Everything in the dining area was very new and very clean. The area outside has a lot of empty buildings, but we walked around and didn’t get robbed. Most of those empty houses and buildings have been bought by this hotel for future additions. Two blocks away from here is an outstanding sports bar, Tom’s NFL, with one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. My wife’s philly steak was also top-​notch.
I will return here and I do recommend this place, especially if you are waiting for a cruise. However, one caution is the shuttle service used by the hotel. Getting from the airport to the hotel, and then from the hotel to the cruiseport was just fine, but had a problem trying to catch the shuttle after the cruise, from the port to the Miami airport. We waited for an hour, fifteen minutes, and saw no shuttle. We had prepaid for this and was assured that there would be a shuttle about every 15 minutes, (not true). My wife and I decided it was necessary for us to take a cab, which cost us a total of $ 27. The shuttle was ten bucks apiece, so the cabs are all sitting there as you walk out the door, and you have personal service to the airport for only $ 7 more. This shuttle service is, to be honest, not employed by the hotel, and they did refund us our $ 20 since we did not use their service.

We stayed at the comfort suites Miami airport for two nights before our cruise. We wanted to relax and sightsee before the cruise so that’s why we early. We booked this hotel because it was reasonably priced, had free breakfast, accommodated our family of five in one room/​suite, offered a free shuttle from the airport, and a free shuttle to the port. This hotel did not disappointed in anything. The rooms were spacious and clean as for the common areas. The breakfast was decent and offered various fresh fruit and yogurt. They do not offer free shuttle back from the port but it’s hard to complain when there is so much else already included. I highly recommend this hotel before/​after your cruise.

This place is real nice while ur awaiting your cruise ship the following day… the bartender was a bit special… maybe he was high… but overall this was awesome… the bed and pillows where nice and comfy… fell right to sleep

We had an overnight layover here in Miami I found this hotel on line. A great find it was. Very pleasant staff. Large room and clean. Although we were near airport did not hear any planes or hall noise for that matter.
Nice continental breakfast. And shuttle from & to airport waa very reliable.
If passing through Miami again will definitely stay here again.

Like other reviewers have noted, it’s in a seedy area of town, but I felt safe the entire time. The location shouldn’t bother you.
Three reasons which caused my 3 star rating:
1. My room was clean, but the air felt damp. I realize it’s Florida and everything is humid, but this was more than that. I noticed an industrial size fan on the first floor, running near the elevators so I wonder if there was a leak recently. It didn’t smell moldy, but the dampness was disconcerting.
2. I was traveling with a baby and forgot to bring milk. I went down to the small store next to the front desk and looked in the cooler for milk. There was none for sale. I turned to the front desk clerk, who was in a personal conversation with another employee. I waited for them to finish and asked if they had any milk for sale as I forgot to get some for my baby. His reply was «No, there is a gas station a couple of blocks away». Now, that isn’t poor customer service but it certainly isn’t good. First of all, it was late and the area isn’t the best. I wasn’t about to take a baby out in that. Second of all, I know they had milk, as they serve it for free at breakfast. I just really wasn’t thrilled with the flippant and unhelpful response.
3. And this is small, but really scammy. I checked my bill when I checked out and saw I was charged $ 2 for «Safe with ltd warranty». I didn’t request nor did I use the in room safe and I certainly didn’t agree to a $ 2 fee. I asked the front desk about it and was told it’s a fee for the in room safe that’s automatic but they can take the charge off if I’d like. Umm, why was it there in the first place? How many people don’t check their bill and get this bogus charge? Like I said, it was a small amount but I really disliked the underhanded-​ness of it.

I highly recommend this place if you are staying pre cruise! — we did May 2015. We chose this place because of the shuttle to and from the airport as well as the port of Miami –all included with booking price!
At check in we made sure to sign up for the cruise shuttle for the morning.
We rented a car from the airport just for the day and returned it later the same night since the parking lot was a little tight and it worked out better for us not to rush around in the morning returning the car etc. so we were able to take the shuttle back to the hotel from the airport after the car rental return.
After we counted our sheep and caught our ZZZ’s we had enough time to eat breakfast and then gather our stuff, get on the bus and sail away!
We always sign up for the all loyalty programs (flight, hotel & car) just incase we get can get free perks and this time we got 2 free drinks at the bar!
The breakfast was excellent and free!- clean and plenty of places to sit.
The hotel was clean and comfortable and yeah it is located in a residential area but it seemed pretty sleepy so no worries.
Count on check in after 3−4pm and no earlier*. Our flight got in really early to MIA and we rented a car to sightsee anyways and we called for early check in but weren’t able to check in until 4-​ish. *I know this is standard but sometimes some hotels aren’t booked the night before so there is a chance for an early check in so we call just in case. :)
The staff was friendly and helpful with the questions we had. I like when businesses have great people working their customer service they represent your company and when you have people that are so over their job or could care less about their job it’s not a good experience for us as customers. –no brainer. :P
Stay here pre cruise!!! We will definitely stay here again!

So after a horrible mess up with my airline AA I was forced to find a hotel for the night, after calling a few places I found this lovely hotel which quoted tired and angry me at what I thought was a decent enough price. I called for their shuttle to come pick me up and for some reason many phone calls and about 45 minutes later I was ready to just hop on another shuttle and see where it took me. The man at the front desk told me since they were having shuttle problems to just take a taxi and they would reimburse me. I ran like a kid to the taxi and hurried to check in at the hotel. I grabbed a couple of drinks from the small vending area and it looks like they waived the cost due to the shuttle problem. I get to my room and wow! It’s not only clean but very spacious. I double check my invoice and realize that the actual price of the room was MUCH less then what was originally quoted… I honestly wish I had a later flight so I could’ve enjoyed the hotel a little longer but it was honestly amazing. Despite the small hiccup at the beginning with the shuttle the whole experience was a much needed win in my book. I give this hotel the highest praise for their customer service and hope to stay at this chain and maybe this location again.

Really disappointed based in all the good reviews. Stayed here in June 2015 and there was so much wrong with the room. All that glitters is not gold. Though the halls and façade are beautiful and the place is well designed it had stains on the rug, covers and curtains inside the room. There was a pube nest in the corners of the shower stall. I felt like stuff was crawling on me all night… it may have been because the place was so filthy. We waited almost an hour for the shuttle to bring us there at 11 pm at night with a toddler and that probably got the experience off on the wrong foot. The hot breakfast was the only redeeming piece of the experience. I believe the cleaning staff are the ones on vacation.

We needed a hotel close to the airport and this one met all of our needs and more. They offer a free shuttle for the airport and Port of Miami and free breakfast with eggs, waffles, cereal and biscuits and gravy.
I signed up fortune free Choice rewards program and they offered us two free drinks at the bar.
The room was very clean and looked recently updated and modern. The hotel was a lot nicer than we expected for the area (looks run down) and we enjoyed our stay.
They were very efficient with getting people to the Port of Miami and your cruise ship and helpful with your luggage.
Great stay.

The guy Efren Garcia makes the difference, he was so polite with us and we felt so good at the reception.

We checked in after a TERRIBLE experience with American Airlines in which we arrived 1:45 hours before our flight and was turned away.
That said, when we arrived Jennifer and the other gentleman at the desk were wonderful! They set us up with much needed snacks and even assisted with getting our luggage to our room!
The lobby was the nicest of any Comfort Suites I ever stayed in! The room was very well appointed and the bed was Very Very Comfortable!
We had to leave for the airport at 3 AM and the gentleman at the desk was patient and kind and the shuttle driver even brought our bags into the airport!
Top notch all around!

The facility its self was awesome. One of the best rooms ever I’ve stayed in! There was a constant wet spot on the rug… we asked for extra towels, never got. Location was awesome from the airport. Staff not friendly or competent. Will be back!!!

We stayed here for one night prior to taking a cruise from the Port Of Miami. The hotel is relatively a newer property, and is very well maintained. Unfortunately, it is surrounded by a bunch of really seedy other no tell motels. The rate included us leaving our car for a week while on the cruise. It so included a one way shuttle to the Port. Breakfast was available in the morning. Our room was large, and very clean. Wifi was free.
I am taking 2 stars off because of the ridiculously bad experience we had at the bar the evening we stayed.
There was an old odd man named Alexander working the bar. He claimed it was he 2^nd day on the job. But it was obviously his first day bartending! He was awful. He had no idea how to make even the most basic of drinks. We had to tell him. He served a shot of gin in a high ball glass, with a long straw! We complained to the front desk clerk, but the seemed very uninterested.
So in summary, once. Inside the hotel it’s nice. The surrounding area is seedy. And stay away from the bar. Thankfully our car was OK when we got back.

Great place to stay before or after your cruise! We flew into Ft. Lauderdale and then took a shuttle to Miami the day before our cruise set sail. We stayed at this hotel since they offered a free shuttle to the port, and were also reasonably priced.
The staff was very friendly and pointed us to a great place to eat! The rooms were also very spacious and nice. Apparently the building is only 2 years old. You can see some wear and tear in some areas but nothing too bad. Breakfast was free and filling.
The pool area was small and almost completely shaded from the sun which was kind of a bummer. Also, the workout facility was tiny.
Overall, we would definitely stay here again!

The rooms here are very modernized and maintained. I can’t emphasize enough how clean the rooms and the whole hotel are. The breakfast buffet consisted of great food, but get there before 10am because they remove the food promptly. Some of the help here can be a little rude, but that’s to be expected in Miami. They also offer complementary airport and seaport transportation. They offer free wi-​fi access, but if you’re lucky enough to establish a connection, it’ll take several minutes for a page to load. Overall, this a clean, professional and safe hotel — perfect for cruisers and business travelers.
