Painting with a Twist

I recently visited the Painting with the Twist Miami Lakes location. The service was great! I was greeted by the door when I arrived and when I left. The class was great! The artist and assistant were very outgoing and personal. I was nervous about my painting but it turned out amazing! I will definitely be back! Highly recommend.

This was my first time ever doing PWAT anywhere. It’s a pretty good deal — $ 35 for two hours of painting. At a crafts store you would spend that just on canvas. This location was very convenient with free onsite parking out back. It was a birthday party with about 10 ladies in attendance. We had the front room all to ourselves and I think there was another party happening in the back. We were all able to pay individually which was much easier than having to coordinate into one payment. We were also able to bring in our own food and beverages (including alcoholic ones) which is great. I hate when places make you do their catering.
In terms of the painting itself it seemed like they had a lot of options and the one chosen by the birthday girl was «easy» so our instructor encouraged us to customize and gave us whatever colors we wanted. I thought he was proficient and somewhat interactive but lacked personality. We were a group of 10 rowdy girls drinking booze and he could have gotten a little more into it. He had us play a game where the winner got to spin a wheel for free PWAT merchandise. However whatever she won on the first spin was unavailable and she had to spin again. At least one of the girls really needed help with her paintings and he seemed reluctant to step in even when she asked. So yeah, that aspect could have been better.
Atmosphere — I was shocked with the musical selection they had available. We asked for Tupac and it ended up being a nice mix of 90’s rap and throwbacks. All with explicit lyrics. Cool in my book.
What was NOT cool however (literally) was the room. I think the AC must have been broken because we were sweating through our clothes. I saw the thermostat and when we got there it was 79 degrees. They said they turned it down but when we left it was 80. We complained about it A LOT. I felt like they could have apologized more or offered us something for free. Or a manager could have come out and addressed the situation. It was very uncomfortable. That is the main reason why I’m giving this 3 stars. I would probably do PWAT again, just not sure about this location.

Updating my review because my original review was for the Fort Lauderdale location. Unilocal doesn’t give me the option to delete my post but the business owner was nice enough to track the date and advise me of my location mistake. 5 stars for taking the time to message me.

This is so much fun! I had been wanting to attend one of the painting classes for a long time, and could never coordinate with anyone, so I bought seats for my mom and my sister and they had no choice but to join me! The three of us had a blast. The price for the classes are really not bad considering they provide you with all the materials you need to do your painting. We did a hamsa hand painting where everyone could choose whichever colors they wanted, and the results were beautiful. The instructor was great! She was very detailed and made sure no one was overwhelmed or falling behind. They really do a great job at making sure everyone finishes in the allotted time period. Little tip for you: you should bring your own wine glasses/​cups to drink out of. Luckily they had enough to give the three of us! Show up ON TIME! and the most important rule, HAVE FUN! I definitely plan on going back. I’d even consider going alone!

I am going to start off by stating this is my first time submitting a negative review for any company, since I understand how important customer service is to the reputation. With that being said, horrendous is an understatement.
As a first (and last) time customer, I invited my sister and mother to a class this past Friday @ 7pm. Class began at 7:20pm to be interrupted by the teacher herself at 7:25pm because 2 customers showed up ridiculously late and teacher decided it was a great idea to explain to late customers what was just told to us. Essentially, class began at 7:30pm.
Of course, being 30 minutes behind schedule, teacher is speeding by our exercise so my sister signals assistant and kindly informs her that the teacher is going way too fast. Teacher was quietly informed by assistant but teacher loudly states people need to hurry up. How inappropriate and unprofessional to say the least.
I was hoping they would make up for lost time as the class was to be from 7−9pm but of course at 8:59pm we were forced to stop painting. Let’s just say my canvas was in the garbage yesterday, not because my first painting was ugly but because it was unfinished.
To make matters worse, on my way in and out of the class the front desk employee was with her head down and on her cellphone. Really? Lastly, I understand I’m in Miami Lakes (Hialeah) but isn’t English the first language in America? Why must employees speak to me in Spanish if I address them in English?
Painting with a twist, I thank you for wasting my time and money with your tasteless and cheap services. I will make sure to return the favor by spreading my review :)

This place is great! I totally recommend it. I went for the first time with a group of friends in celebration of my father in laws birthday. We had such a great time! We laughed so much just making silly jokes about our art skills. The instructor was awesome, she went step by step with us. Such a great experience.

My boyfriend and I went to a late-​night couple’s class at this location a few weeks back and had a really fun time. The staff was extremely polite and accommodating. We had to make a last-​minute cancellation for some family that was going to attend with us and the process of cancelling and issuing a gift certificate was simple.
The class itself is a lot of fun. The instructor (I forgot her name) was very personable, funny, and did a great job in guiding everyone. There were also some fun extras which I had never experienced before at other Painting with a Twist locations — there was a «tattoo» contest in which couples had to paint «tattoos» on each other and the entire class would vote on the best. Surprisingly, my boyfriend and I won the contest and got to spin a wheel to determine our prizes and ended up winning a tumbler and wine glass. Pretty cool.
We enjoyed a fun night of drinking, painting, and had a wonderful time bonding. Our paintings came out pretty great, too!

Friendly, helpful staff. Location was alittle tricky initially, it is on the first floor of an office plaza. We came for a couples painting class on Valentines day. It truly is a uniting experience, if you are looking for some QT w your partner. We brought a bottle of champagne and then got creative!

My bf and I booked a class on Valentine’s Day, and we had an absolutely wonderful time! Ana Maria was funny and very helpful! The class was intimate and quite delightful! They provide you with all the essential, minus the alcohol… lol, and you get to keep your canvas!
Friendly staff, helpful, and welcoming! :)
I recommend it to anyone who is interested in unwinding while painting! No need to be an expert to paint or to enjoy this class!

I had originally given this location 1 star but after my experience with Yirka I had to come back and edit my post! My boyfriend had accidentally booked the wrong date for our Valentine’s Day date. When we tried to call and ask if we could come a different day/​time we were told no. I drove over the next day and Yirka was more than helpful. She allowed us to come in for that evening’s class with no questions asked! The instructor Ana was really nice and super helpful. The space was the nicest I’ve been to of the painting with a twist franchises. We had a wonderful time! I will definitely be back. Thank you Yirka!

What a terrible experience, I booked my party of 20 guests last week, ¹⁄₁₂ and received a confirmation via email and a voicemail message. 2 days before my party I check my emails and I see emails stating that if I do not respond or call them back or my reservation would be canceled and was canceled because they didn’t have my number. Which contradicts– they left me a message and I have phone records to show conversation when party was booked. Why would I have to RECONFIRM a confirmed and reservation done– and email proof. So yes, the canceled and their claim is that they attempted to reach me, yes of course via email like they say and I know bc I finally checked my emails after 2 days, but really wouldn’t a phone call be more effective. Like the first call. Remember, you called me once on day of booking and left me a message. How did you have my number then? No justification will be good enough!

I recently visited this location of Painting with a Twist and had a great experience. They have great customer service and I had an immense amount of fun. Will be returning soon. Highly recommended!
