Specialties

We offer yoga with an emphasis on inteligent alignment. Inspired by the Iyengar Yoga (the gold standard) and YogaWorks systems we incorporate the use of blocks, straps, blankets, bolsters and a rope wall to make the poses more accessable for some and challenging for others. We offer a step by step process for advancing in yoga.

First: The 4 Session Introductory Beginners Series (New sessions starts once or twice month, may join up to second session and comes with two extra FREE classes)

Second: Level 1 «Basic» Classes

Third: Level 1 and 2 Multi-​Level «Progressing» Classes

Fourth: Level 2 «Experienced» Classes

We also offer Iyengar Yoga Workshops with fully certified Iyengar teachers once a month as well as Master Class Workshop and many other speciality topic workshops.

Everyone is welcome at no matter what your current condition may be. We specialize in getting people out of their slumps and back in much better health and wellness.

History

Established in 2012.

We have been in operation and serving the Miami Beach community for going on three years now. Edwin Bergman, the founder and director moved to Miami Beach from New York. Edwin had been teaching successfully in New York City ever since 2000 and leading the very highly regarded YogaWorks Teacher Training since 2007. He joined with then business partner Greg Waters in 2012 to found YOGA THAT! Almost all of the teachers at YOGA THAT were trained by directly by Edwin or in the YogaWorks and/​or Iyengar systems.

Edwin Bergman, ERYT500

Edwin is one of the founders of YOGA THAT and began practicing Yoga in 1989 in New York City. Over the last 20+ years, he has practiced and studied with many great teachers in the Iyengar, YogaWorks, Integral and Anusara schools of yoga. He is registered as experienced (E-​RYT500) with Yoga Alliance and has 500-​hour training certifications through both Integral Yoga and YogaWorks. Edwin has traveled the world, leading the renowned YogaWorks Teacher Training. His classes bring you deep inside by balancing precise instruction, detailed alignment and skillful sequencing. Prior to teaching Yoga Edwin was the creator and host of «You are the light” — an inspirational cable TV program– in New York and Los Angeles for 15 years. Loooooooooove YogaThat. I couldn’t be more grateful for having found this studio. Edwin’s helped me overcome my chronic back/​shoulder pain and expand my yoga practice to a whole different level. His adjustments (correcting your asanas to the most desirable and healthy alignment) are my personal favorite.. awakening, yet gentle. He’s extremely Clear, patient, and reassuring. As per BKS Iyengar, quality is what he strives. No, this is not like your typical Bikram or Vinyasa flow class… it’s better! Yoga That is a fun charming studio nestled into the Mid-​Beach community. This is mostly an Iyengar yoga style studio (yes there’s multiple types of yoga for all you rookies out there lol). I believe Edwin is the owner and gets all the fame for this establishment and for good reason. In a nutshell, he is thorough, witty, and electric. I’ve also had Roger Dodger and he is amazeballs as well! Yoga That is a must have for my growing Yogi mindset. Namasteeeeeeeeeee yoga gangsters…

I bought a groupon and was excited to use it based on all of Yoga That’s good reviews. I called 5 different times within a span of 3 days and left several voicemails. No one ever answered or returned my call. As a result I wasn’t able to activate my groupon and frankly didn’t want to after their lack of customer service.

I attended one class here while I was on vacation and it was one of the best yoga classes I’ve been to. I would have given 5 stars, but having only been to one class, I can’t say that the studio as a whole is as awesome as Emily’s Saturday morning class. The class focused on proper alignment, but had a steady flow as well. Emily was so knowledgeable about the sequencing of poses as well as safe alignment, and she challenged students based on ability. I left feeling inspired, rejuvenated, centered and strong.
The studio itself is not hard to find (although it is located above gym. Yes, you might have to wait outside for the class before yours to get out, but that’s pretty common when the studio is part of another business or within a building rather than stand-​alone.
As far as levels go, unless you’re looking for Bikram/​power/​hot and sweaty yoga, the mixed-​level class should suit a moderate practitioner just fine.

«Yoga That» should be called «Stretch That» — this is the lowest level of yoga I have ever practiced– if you are a beginner: try this studio. If you have ever practiced yoga, don’t bother. I do more in my regular practice in 30 minutes than they do in an hour; any seasoned yogi will be bored to tears.
Positive: they do teach proper alignment
Negative: no variety of yoga levels — it’s all beginner’s yoga here and no variety– each class is the same

Great studio (located right above Hiperfit Fitness) with amazing instructors. The instructors give detailed instructions and correct your asanas. These instructors actually improve my practice by correcting me. Classes are small enough that students can receive individual attention from the instructor. Beautiful and clean studio with Bamboo floors. The classes are challenging and give you a great workout. I especially enjoyed the Alignment & Flow class taught by Sharon. She gives clear and detailed instructions that are easy to flow.

I have been to 3 – 4 different studios on Miami Beach and after buying a Groupon and attending 5 – 6 classes I have to say that I have really been enjoying Yoga That. I’ve primarily been going to the YogaWorks Classic classes with Edwin and it’s been great getting back into my practice.
The thing I like the most about Edwin is that he makes a point of going around and correcting everyone’s poses even when it is a busier class. With his help, I have corrected several poses in a short amount of time with Edwin that I had been doing wrong since I started doing Yoga 2 years ago.
It is a nice, clean, but small studio above the Hiperfit gym so I highly recommend signing in online to ensure that you get a spot because occasionally it can be crowded.

I am new to yoga and Edwin with his teams at Yoga That really allowed me to enjoy yoga. Edwin is great, always pays attention to each student and corrects your poses, which is extremely important and helpful for beginners like me. The classes can be challenging (coz I am a beginner) but what a great workout, physically and spiritually!

Amazing teachers in this hidden studio (above Hiperfit Fitness).
I’ve been practicing yoga for more than 10 years and I found in this place the best teachers. So far, I’ve taken classes with Edwin, Allisa and Emily. All of them are great, but my favorite is Edwin. They all give detailed instructions and they CORRECT your asanas (positions), which seems very unusual in most yoga studios or gyms. How can you know that you’re doing something wrong if nobody helps you? That is something that I don’t understand and I’ve seem people doing improper positions that could be dangerous and teachers doing nothing about it. Not in this studio.
I love the classes flow, the people, the environment.
The reasons I’m not giving 5 stars to this place are:
— There is not a separate area where you can change in case you come directly from work. There are 2 bathrooms in the gym downstairs, that are clean and big, but somehow you feel like you are entering into other business.
— The place could receive a little TLC, but nothing major.
Even though I have those issues, I’m trading my Equinox membership (I love this gym, but I’m not a fan of their yoga classes lately) for this hidden gem.

I’ve been taking Gentle Yoga with Alissa for several weeks and have really enjoyed the stretching and working of different muscles, taught by a very attentive and helpful instructor. The hands-​on adjustments have really made a difference in advancing my ability to perform and hold each pose. All yoga props (except mats) are provided by the studio. The space is very soothing and peaceful. It’s a wonderful class for all levels!

Gentle yoga with Alissa was great! Stretched and worked so many different muscle groups. Alissa helps make adjustments in a careful manner allowing you to better feel each pose. Overall, great class that left me feeling refreshed and invigorated!

Wonderful classes in a lovely studio above Hiperfit Fitness on 41st. I took Alignment and Flow and found the class very enjoyable and well taught. The instructors are well trained and since classes are small can give individual attention and the studio offers a nice variety of classes for beginners and more advance practitioners alike.
