Too expensive for tourist. actually too expensive for a piece pizza.

This is getting depressing. With a slew of businesses not making it a year (not even eight months), I have to wonder if something’s in the air. In the case of Urban Oxy, though, I’m guessing it was a business decision as the Downtown location closed down as well. It’s too bad. South Beach needed a place like UO. Not only was the coffee good (a.) It’s Panther and b.) I don’t even like coffee and I ordered it here regularly), the baked goods (from Sweetness) were delicious (think salted chocolate chip cookies and luscious brownie), the mac & cheese sandwiches were tasty (if not a bit skimpy for the price), salads were well-​made, pizzas were made to order, and the staff were super nice. These are rarities on Washington… and now it’s gone.

Are you guys ever opened? We tried both of your locations on two different days at times you have posted as opened (online & on your door) and both locations were closed.

A coffee shop that doesn’t open till 9:00 a.m. Strange, but true with this location of Urban Oxy.
It’s conveniently located just 2 blocks from the beach, and across the street from the Post Office, which makes it a prime location for locals and tourists alike. Like the other locations, Urban Oxy serves up delicious Panther Coffee and delectable sweet treats from Sweetness, including cupcakes and ridiculously good red velvet twinkies. It also has a selection of more savory eats, including pizza (available by the slice too).
Prices are on the high side, especially for the relatively simple fare being offered. I was charged over $ 6 for a 16 oz. cold brew with a bit of milk, over a $ 1 higher than the blackboard price. Whether or not they charged for milk is questionable, but $ 6 for an iced coffee is ridiculous. Granted, I much prefer Panther to Starbucks, but for ½ the price, I’ll take half the quality.

It is convenient to have a proper cup of coffee around the corner from my house.
The décor is hip, music is appropriate and the coffee rocks! Sometimes you may have to wait a few minutes to be served but anything worth while requires a bit of patience.
I left out the the 5^th star because they need to polish service and they need to get a beer/​wine license so they can lower the price of their coffee a bit.$ 4 for espresso?

Urban Oxy is the lovechild of a major fatty and a brilliant genius. Comfort food dolled up with a creative edge? I’ll take it! Classic example? The $ 7 MacDaddy. It’s pure joy smothered between two slices of bread – Mac ‘N’ Cheese stuffed into a grilled cheese sandwich. It’ll have you singing So will the fun, colorful walls and funky vibe. Great for a pit-​stop before or after a day at the beach! Sit at the stool bar and enjoy the people watching on Washington Ave. as you float away to foodie heaven.

I’m noticing that other reviews are concentrate on what a refreshing addition Urban Oxy is in this part of Washington. And I echo these reviews: the food isn’t gross, the ambience nice, and the service isn’t despicable which makes it exceptional to its surroundings from the start. If this were all it took to make a 5-​star restaurant, though, Urban Oxy would be there.
For now, its four star. Service needs some caffeine (it was slow in handling 5 customers at once on a Sunday around brunchtime), and the salad menu does a very poor job of noting that protein is an extra $ 3.00. The only price noted for its 3 salad options is $ 9.00, so the subtitle of «Pick Your Protein» implies its an all-​inclusive offer.
Meanwhile, the food itself was good *except* for those salads. I know South Beach salad people are health fiends, but these portions are too small for your pet chihuahua. The skinny pizza slice was great, and a nice alternative to the greasy pizza-​by-​the-​slice options on Washington (hello Miami Beach Health Department!!), and the coffee put even Panther to shame. Excellent coffee.
UO has some kinks to work out, but it is a great new spot for SoBe in Washington.

After a long week of meetings down in Miami I stopped in Urban Oxy for a quick coffee and bite to eat. I was just going to get a muffin or cookie and then I saw grilled cheeses!
I had a grilled cheese for breakfast. Yes… yes I did.
I got the Mac Daddy which has Mac&Cheese in a grilled cheese — with bacon added in.
It was good. I was expecting it to be a lot better, but it was good.
The coffee was a disappointment. I got the cold brew, which they mentioned brews overnight. I didn’t like it. Not sure I can put my finger on what it was, but it tasted off to me.
I’d give them another shot though. The staff was super nice and friendly and the place was spotless.

Stopped in today to give Oxy a whirl. Delish coffee and super helpful and friendly staff. Great marketing and merchandising– the place makes you want to buy things.
I’ll try the pizza next time… stay tuned.

I think i would give this place $$ instead of $. Guy that had hair like LMFAO greeted us kindly. Ordered expresso macchiato and boy it was tiny. But it was super strong which is prob why the small size. Small place. Beware they don’t to flavor coffee drinks like vanilla, wht chocolate or carmel.

I don’t care how good your coffee is, charging $ 5.18 for a cappuccino is beyond insane. I’ve never heard of anyone charging that much for a drink — not in New York, San Francisco, etc.

I didnt try the grilled cheese, which is why I walked in the door to begin with, as i felt the price is just too high for a grilled cheese ($ 9)…So I went for the single slice of pizza. WOW so good! It had a nice, thin crust and delicious topping and cheese layer. I do think the coffee pricing needs to be worked on, with starbucks only a few feet away and almost half the cost of a regular cup o coffee.
I would reccomend to anyone to give it a shot. It’s worth the try.

Purrrfect Panther coffee made to perfection. They have almond and soy milk available upon request for no extra charge. Who knew a grilled cheese sandwich could be SO good with a cup of coffee?! Yummy variety of sandwiches too… Really friendly staff and awesome décor. Great hours for late night snacking — but what if I want a coffee on the way to work or first thing in the morning? I wish they opened at 7am or at least 8am.
I have no problem spending a pretty penny on good quality, but I do believe the coffee is a bit overpriced. I much rather support a local coffee bar using better ingredients (like Urban Oxy) — but with Starbucks right on the corner, and prices being the same for coffee, (if not a little more) I’m not sure how many other visitors or locals will also support this quality brew. Maybe having a coffee punch card where you get a free cup after you purchase «x» amount will help as an incentive.

I been to Urban Oxy a few times, mainly for coffee, pizza and grilled cheese but today we tried the salads and I got to say, just as good as the rest of the menu but they are my new favorite. I highly recommend the salads.
I also like the people working there, unlike some other places in Sobe, they are nice, cool and simple.
The place is clean, cool and food is inexpensive and very good.

a little new hidden gem on south beach. the grilled cheese sandwiches are amazing and the chicken wings are so tasty. you have to try this place, reminds me a little bit of new york city :) staff was super helpful and friendly as well. and they have a cool chalkboard wall everywhere that you can write on :)

This place was a real treat to visit and a real standout during our weekend in Miami beach. The staff was friendly, cheerful, and the coffee was superb. It was a nice quiet step off of busy Washington, away from the… Miami-​ness.

I live down the street and was excited to see a small coffee shop other than Starbucks or a cafeteria slinging cortaditos and café con leches. I was even more excited they serve Panther coffee which is some of the best coffee, I’ve had since moving to Miami.
First time I tried the cold brew and the chicken and chokes grilled cheese. The cold brew is heaven it’s dark and rich served with your choice of whole, skim, soy, or almond milk. Personally I like it black, almond milk was good but milk just dilutes the flavor. The sandwich was 9 $ which many would consider to pricy, but it had nice big chunks of chicken, and I loved the artichokes. It had a perfect golden color. I waited a bit for it but it was worth it.
Today, however was the nail in the coffin. First of all they have chimes brewing with a steel filter so no diluted flavor due to paper presence. Honestly one of the best cups of coffee I’ve had. But really took me was the pizza. New York style large slices. Thin and crispy but still foldable. I had the market and it came with onions green and orange peppers and olives. By far the best veggie pizza I’ve had in a long time, and at 3.25 a slice, well worth it.
