Tyrex Rent A Car

I had a horrible experience with them in Fort Lauderdale. I reserved a car 3 weeks in advance. They sent me a confirmation. I called them when I got off my cruise ship to get instructions. They told me to go to the airport and they will send someone to get me. I called them when I got there and they said my reservation was cancelled and that they had sent me an email. I looked at my email and see they had sent me a cancellation 10 minutes after I called them the 1^st time. They cancelled my reservation 20 minutes before my pick up time. I ended up paying twice as much for a last minute car rental. They are very unprofessional. DON’T USE THEM. THEY ARE VERY UNRELIABLE.

Joined Unilocal just to write this review. I will admit to renting from Beach Tyrex with trepidation. They are not a major, I had a packed schedule, and couldn’t afford to deal with car rental problems. However, car rentals in Ft Lauderdale on my arrival date, esp. at the airport, were hard to get and absurdly priced. I decided to take a chance on Beach Tyrex for 4 days, planning to switch to an off airport major (Enterprise) for the next week. But my experience with Beach Tyrex was excellent, so I saw no need to change. I avoided the hassle of switching cars and saved a chunk of cash as well.
Picking up and returning the car was hassle free. The car was excellent, a new Corolla with about 1500 miles on it. Yossel was great about communication, responding to texts and emails regardless of the time. I have to wonder if he ever sleeps.
I did take the precaution of putting down a deposit to ensure the car was available, something I would have probably done with any company given the crunch on availability in Ft Lauderdale at the time. I also signed the contract electronically and paid prior to arrival, which again made me a bit nervous when dealing with an unknown company.
I was aware of negative reviews prior to renting, but given the circumstances, decided to take a chance, and my experience was very positive.

Can you do NO STARS?! I would never rent a car from these people. Their customer service is atrocious. There is a complete lack of it actually. I would be afraid of what happened if I actually did get a car from them. While trying to rent a car from another state for the holidays, they send me a confirmation that I got the car we wanted and then we call to make a change to the reservation and they tell us we have no reservation. Can you imagine? All I can think is what would have happened if we hadn’t have called to make that change… thinking we had a reservation (one that surely looked official with a Reservation # and everything.)
Watch out for this crew.

ALWAYS rent a car from them or a scooter. Nice service, fast, cheap. Haven’t found a better deal on the beach yet. And all the friends I sent there were very happy as well.

While I’m always out for a good adventure, I have to admit I’m no dare devil. Being that I was in Miami Beach for the first time, I was looking to try new things and some take chances. It was my birthday, there was a lot to cross off my «to do» list.
One of them was to ride a scooter. I’ve never driven anything motorized like a dirt bike, scooter or motorcycle — so my excitement was that of a kid learning how to ride her first bike. Nervous, yet ready to go.
There is no helmet law in Florida, which actually made me a little more nervous since when you rent one — they don’t often give you one either. Scooter rental was around $ 50.00 for 24 hours.
Learning was incredibly easy. I started off slow, but as I got more comfortable… you couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. I wanted to go FASTER, but these things max out at around 30 mph. Now I want to try dirt bikes, jet ski’s and ATV’s.
What a fun way to get around South Beach and parking was a snap. Just do it.
