Thrifty Car Rental

Just writing a positive review because I read the reviews on Unilocal and was pretty concerned about using this place once I had already booked. The manager told me they were under new ownership. We didn’t want to have a car in Miami the whole time since there is nowhere really to park. We drove the car to FL and dropped the car off there at the airport. The place was a little bit slow but I did arrive early and things went very smoothly. We did not have to get the sun pass because we were going from Miami to Fort Lauderdale… apparently one is needed to go the reverse. Car was fine and employees were nice. You can only use their sun pass if you need one. I had bought one in the walgreens on collins prior to picking up the car because I had read that it was much cheaper… the manager said I couldn’t use it but it turns out I didn’t need it either. Overall pretty convenient and easy.

Charged me 13.50 because i didn’t have a reciept for the gas.

Thieves!!! I rent a car, the battery was gone and they didn’t help and stole 2,000,00 $

unfortunately I will no longer rent from this location as it just takes too long to get your car. I was there on Friday and there was only 1 person who was trying his best but he was checking people in and getting the cars so I waited an hour and a half. This was not the first time I have waited there either if you are lucky it is only 30 minutes same reason only 1 person on the counter. It seems management has made a decision to cut expenses (payroll) at the expense of service I will go elsewhere in the future

Writing my first bad review… bummer. This place is a disaster… Like some of the other reviews mentioned, we booked online and were confirmed. Went to pick-​up our car on the day of rental and were told there were no available cars (this, after waiting 30 min in line with one person behind the counter and two others just hangin out).
There are a zillion ways to tell a customer that their reservation can’t be filled… but blaming the customer for booking online isn’t one of them. The agent literally acted like we were insane for expecting a car after booking online. Then the little accented lady (mentioned in previous posts) came to ‘our aid’ to help us try to rent a car for «much more than what is quoted online» from another mysterious source. Yikes, lady.
We left… called Enterprise on the other side of Miami and got a new rental right away. Seriously just shifted loyalties. Enterprises’ customer service and check-​out flow is way more advanced. Even though their cars are sometimes a bit more expensive overall, they don’t nickel and dime you for little things like the cheaper car rental places do. With experiences like this, it’s worth opting for a premium, reliable service.
This place is an absolute trap. We shoulda seen the red flags waving from the outside of the place and from the reviews, but we tried our luck and experienced it first-​hand. Learn from our mistakes, friends! Go for another spot.

When we went online, it was allowing us to reserve a car and was claiming to be 42 per day. Once we went to store to ask questions, there were no cars to rent. We were directed to speak with to some lady — she has a strong accent and was hustling us. Go to the direct source when you rent a car because it’s cheaper that way. Don’t rent out from here because you will have to spend 100 for a one day rental. You can easily rent a car for a day for half the price.

We rented a scooter for 4 hours and we had a blast. Great customer service even if they are extremely busy renting scooters and other vehicles

do NOT use thrifty car rental. They have hidden fees for tolls in the hundreds of dollars!!! They send you the bill a month or two after you rent their cars. Stay AWAY

Terrible. One hour waiting to get helped, only one person working and no a/​c. Torture and unprofessional for such a big company. Making a reservation will not get you helped any faster either. Come prepared to wait if you’re thinking of renting from this place.

Do not rent from this location!
We had a car reserved for 9 a.m. (reserved a week in advance) and arrived at 10:45 a.m. to be told that there were no cars available. First we were told that the airport had not delivered any cars and then we were told that there was no car for us because it was over two hours past our pickup time (which is wasn’t since it was before 11:00 a.m.). The agent was extremely rude and did not try to help us at all. The best he could do was to suggest that we check back at 1:00 to see if they had any cars. Since we needed to be somewhere at 1:00 (which is why we rent the car in the first place) that was not at all helpful. We wound up going to an Avis a few blocks north and they had plenty of cars and were very easy to deal with.

Rented a car from here during my last trip to South Beach.
I got there early in the morning so i could get in and out quickly, how wrong was I. Their computer system was down and they chose to just wait until it came back up rather than doing rentals the old fashion way, hand written.
Two months later I get a parking ticket in the mail from Miami-​Dade County issued 30 minutes after I returned the car.
So far they have refused to acknowledge any wrong doing.

Cheapest SUV rental I could find in South Beach ($ 44 total). The office is really odd, it’s mixed in with a shady scooter rental counter with a constant line of some of the trashiest people I’ve ever seen… if you ignore that (it’s not easy) and just run in and out, you’ll survive.

Mein Beitrag befasst sich mit Thrifty generell. Hier stimmt das Preis-​Leistungsverhältnis, nur die Autos sind nicht immer das Gelbe von Ei. Ich hatte mir in Chicago einen Dodge Charger bestellt, Auto war nicht verfügbar… und ich bekam einen Mustang, habe ich dann auf Cabrio upgegraded. An dem Auto waren schon ein paar Gebrauchsspuren, aber alles in allem ok. Bei meiner 2. Thrifty Anmietung hatte ich wieder einen Charger reserviert, diesmal in Orlando. Wieder war das Auto nicht verfügbar. Da ich diesmal wegen dem Gepäck nicht schon wieder auf ein Cabrio umschwanken konnte hat man mir (ohne Aufpreis) einen Chrysler 300C angeboten. Kaum vom Hof gefahren stellte ich fest das das Auto eine verstellte Spur hat und nach rechts zog. Ich bekam anstandslog einen anderes Auto, nur das sprang nicht an. Mit dem dritten 300C hatten wir dann Glück, nur war dieser leider eteas verbeult, aber was soll’s. Ansonsten waren Annahme, Abwicklung und Rückgabe absolut reibungslos und somit 4**

Thrifty Car Rental came through for me in a pinch when faced with a last-​minute booking for a planned business trip to Key West. My go-​to (Enterprise) was fully booked, and this was the nearest location with available vehicles for the days I needed.
A Chrysler Sebring (or equivalent) was reserved for me to the tune of $ 59.99 per day. A little steep, no? Upon my arrival, I was informed that my vehicle would be a Dodge Journey — a mid-​size crossover SUV. Definitely not my first choice, but hey, who am I to complain when someone else is paying? But then again, I was off to the Keys in a vehicle that didn’t have cruise control or keyless entry, but did have bluetooth, an MP3 jack, and a 6-​CD changer. I don’t get it.
The service was very friendly, though I thought it was curious that they had me do the walk-​around to inspect the vehicle for dents/​dings, etc. Every other rental agency I’ve been to does it themselves, with you along for the walk.
The location is a bit tricky, as it’s right on Collins in the thick of South Beach, and parking is limited. But if you’re an experienced Miami driver, this shouldn’t be a problem.
Enterprise is still my first choice for car rental, but Thrifty is now a definite viable option, especially in a pinch.

Set underneath a hotel, it’s pretty hard to find this Thrifty. The prices are pretty cheap $ 170 per week for an average (UK standards) car. GPD is $ 10 a day and insurance around the $ 20 a day mark (but optional). It’s a no frills stores (two seats and a desk) and we had to wait 20 minutes for our car to be delivered from a nearby car park, but the rentals are cheap and that’s pretty much the most important thing

Only one star for the on-​line reservation system which lost my reservation, but once I got there they handled everything very nicely and gave me a discounted upgrade. So if you reserve on-​line I would call them to double check.
