The Marlin Hotel

We were hesitant to take our 3 month old on a trip to Miami but thanks to this hotel and their wonderful staff we had a marvelous time. The hotel was very spacious, comfortable, and clean with all the amenities we could ever need. Every employee at the hotel from the valet to the maids were very pleasant, and we spent a lot of time there due to our newborn. Their bar and restaurant were absolutely amazing from the service to the cuisine. We ate there many times during our stay and each experience was top notch, very accommodating for those with dietary restrictions. And great bartender and cocktails. They really made us feel welcome, even went as far to send us a thank you note and sweets after our return home. We will definitely be back!

The worst experience I had, this hotel is a complete fraud, all started by not honored by the invitation. Then was I just one night instead of two nights, and this is my story — took us to a clerk that her English was not good, request the credit and without any explanation to me $ 450 and then told me to sign a paper that says I paid for one night and the second night I’ll pay at the end of your stay, did not explain anything to me and request that I pay for the dog. They claim to be a friend with pets. My dog​did pee at that little rug by the bed. I cleaned it, then they forced me $ 450 for the damage, I explain what harm this animal is supposed to pee. The value of carpet $ 20, so I asked if someone does not feel well and he vomits on the floor or an adult with a urinary problem dirty up you also behave accordingly. And they said yes. I told them it was a complete fraud. And I’m willing to pay a $ 450 fine on the carpet worth $ 20 and what problem to clean it. Then she called the police. The police forced me to pay because the document I signed him while he was in total darkness. This hotel with restaurant was loud music and she told me I mark it paid for the stay. The two nights I paid $ 500, the hotel has no parking and street parking so I paid $ 200 plus $ 450 fine because my dog​bit dirtied the carpet. I slept in a lot of hotels in Miami are friend with pets has never happened to me treat me this wayp

Visiting Miami from Dallas, Tx. The hotel was gorgeous don’t get me wrong ! But I was a little disappointed because the TV was not in the mirror and the room was a lot smaller than I’d seen in pictures. But the location is amazing the room is beautiful, the bathroom is gorgeous! Right by the night excitement and the beach. Within walking distance of anything you would want to do ! When I asked about the TV in the mirror I was told that the hotel is currently remodeling and putting a restaurant in the lobby. So I understood. Beautiful hotel !! Staff is very nice and easy on the eyes. Would definitely stay there again when the remodeling is done !!

Have wanted to stay at the Marlin for a while and boy have I not been disappointed. Fantastic room with every mod con you could ever need, one of those rooms you find it hard to leave even when the sights and sounds of South Beach are beckoning. Super helpful staff and immaculately clean will definitely be back

Perfection! They are a boutique hotel but they have 5 star service. The aroma is clean and fresh I asked what it was it’s green lemon grass and they had it installed in their air conditioning. The rooms are beautiful. Clean and the tv is in the mirror. Controlled by an ipad… high tech! Wish they served food the lobby is perfect for a classy lounge and intimate brunch.

I really enjoyed this place and would definitely come back.
The lobby/​reception is basically a work desk to the right when you come in. The workers there were very cordial, explained how the iPad works for operating the TV, changing the light colors, etc. To the left there’s a bar with about 6 chairs. Also a few couches. Felt fairly relaxing. We also got a ticket to a wine tasting the hotel hosts for an hour almost every day.
The room was pretty spacious for two. The huge TV was fully functional. Couch converts into a bed pretty easily (by removing the cushions). Queen-​size bed was very comfortable. Lighting system was a little complex to figure out (you get all sorts of groovy colors) but overall it was fine. Shower, towels, etc all good. Wifi was reliable, though it kept kicking me off everytime I left the room and I’d have to relog back in.
A couple of small downers that prevented this place from getting a 5:
The elevator was very creaky — at one point started moving before the door closed. Use the stairs if you’re on the 2^nd floor.
There’s a very large area of seating behind the bar, it used the be a restaurant but there’s nothing there now. Just lots of empty tables. Gives the place a sad vibe. Hopefully they’ll fill it up.
The immediate area on Collins is pretty dead. Washington is a block behind, Ocean is a block ahead, and the beach is right off Ocean. But stay off Collins if you’re looking for bars, restaurants, etc. Unless you go north (toward Lincoln).
I’d definitely come back.

I absolutely loved the five days I spent at The Marlin. I was in South Beach for the first time, all alone, and working long days at the SB Wine & Food Festival. This hotel was the perfect choice to walk to and from «work» each day. It’s right in the heart of South Beach, but not right next to the crazy, loud nightclubs.
I had never stayed in a boutique hotel before. The Marlin has only 12 or 13 rooms, and I was always greeted by someone at the front desk, who asked how I slept or how my day was. It was almost like staying at a B&B because of how intimate it is. Well, a B&B that feels like a chic, Miami lounge downstairs, and a lush, modern suite upstairs. Seriously, these rooms are to die for. They give you an iPad upon check-​in, which controls everything in your room (TV, curtains, lights, AC, etc.). The rooms are big — probably the size of a studio apartment — so I actually enjoyed staying in on the nights I was exhausted. And the shower was AMAZING.
My only complaint is that the walls are really thin. The first night I stayed there, people in the room next to me were blasting music and shouting for hours. I could hear everything. Thankfully they were gone the next day. But you can even hear the elevator when it opens from inside your room. Oh, and it smells really strongly of weed. That didn’t really bother me, but it might get to some people.
I had the fish tacos and lobster bisque from the restaurant downstairs, and they were great. Definitely a step above typical room service food. Overall, I’m a big fan and would stay here again in a heartbeat. If you’re looking for a more traditional hotel experience, this isn’t the place for you.

My review is for the lobby, not for the hotel. I’m a local and some dude was outside of the hotel soliciting people to come inside on a Sunday night. $ 5 drinks, alright, we’ll give it a shot! The French moron that was there (manager I think) ruined it. He got us our round of drinks which consisted of 2 Heinekens and a vodka drink. not much effort right? This Euro trash charges us, then has the cojones to say immediately after, «you know that you have to tip right?!» Seriously!!! I laughed as he walked away… I tipped the girl that was supposed to be the waitress because I felt bad that she had to deal with his moron even though she did absolutely nothing… I told him that he wasn’t dealing with his own kind… Europeans (who we know are awful tippers!) What a joke of a place.

$ 29 to park car, but it would have been nice if they informed me it is $ 15 right across the road.
Lots of funky gadgets in the room. Too complicated though. Tv mirror too dark to watch. Receptionist couldn’t fix the problem and that was that, unwatchable tv for me. Funky ceiling shower, problem though, only half of the head worked, trickle of a shower for me. Toilet paper single ply, maybe the cheapest nastiest toilet paper I’ve seen in the US. Room is small and not well insulated, you can hear everything the maids are chatting about in the morning. I had an emergency call from my bank overseas in the night and needed to write some details down. No pen or paper in the room. Really? I should have stayed in a holiday inn for half the price, it would have been more comfortable. Avoid.

Just spent a weekend at the Marlin Hotel. our first time in Miami.
We loved the hotel. The Marlin is a boutique hotel in the best part of South Beach. Modern, stylish, clean and close to the beach and restaurants and shops are just walking distance.
We were especially impressed with the service we received from Alex. He was personable, friendly and always there to help us with anything.
The rooms are clean and modern and I loved the lighting. The room lights and the bathroom lights changed color and the TV was large and in the wall mirror. Haha my parents were in another room and couldn’t find it. They had to ask Alex to show them.
Bathroom was modern and had a really sexy rainshower. I swear I took 5 showers in the two days I was there. The king sized bed was so comfortable and we slept every morning way too late.
We were there for a wedding and the rehearsal dinner was held at the restaurant in the hotel.
The food was so good! Delicious and the service was top notch
I guess I should say the only downside is there is no pool… not an issue for us this trip because we came in December but hey the beach is one block away so maybe it isn’t a downside after all.
I will definitely stay at this hotel again. I hope it won’t be too long until we go back.

I loved the Marlin. This was our first time staying in South Beach and I’m glad I found this Hotel thru Jetsetters! Pros: Great Location– near many bars, clubs, and restaurants and a block away from the Beach; Friendly Service– loved how the hotel manager gave us recommendations to places to go in SOBE; Beautiful Room– Décor was all white, TV in the mirror, waterfall shower, and super comfy beds; iPad– You get an iPad to control the room and go online! Cons: No Pool– but they do provide a beach bad and towel for you to enjoy the beach.

Our stay at the Marlin was an enjoyable one. Everyone was friendly, the place was immaculate and comfortable, and the room iPad offered a different experience. The beach is right down the road and the area is full of shopping, bars, and restaurants.
The owner was extremely friendly and personable — our flight departed late on a Sunday night and he was kind enough to extend our checkout time until later in the day so we could enjoy another awesome Miami beach day.
We are forever thankful to him and highly recommend this hotel to everyone looking for a low-​key, chic place to stay. You won’t be disappointed!

I’ve stayed in a few hotels in Miami Beach and so far, the Marlin is my favorite. On check in, you receive an iPad that controls everything in the room, including the lights (both bathroom and main room), television and even the drapes. In case you’re not technologically inclined, you also have the option of using the less cool, but still useful light switches on the wall. The rooms are a comfortable size, clean and well-​kept. Furthermore, the bathroom is outfitted with trendy fixtures, including a shower that allows the options of either providing water through a flexible shower hose or from the ceiling. We were a «Studio D» style room and we had no privacy issues between the bathroom and the other parts of the room, as a wall completely separated the bathroom from the bedroom area.
There was a wedding going on during our visit, but even though the hotel is a small one, we did not even notice the noise or the chaos of the wedding except when we wandered downstairs during the reception. We never felt unwelcome or ignored in spite of this large event and it is to the credit of the hotel’s staff that everything seemed to run so smoothly.
Also, although the Marlin is located on a busy stretch of Collins Ave., in a room overlooking Collins Ave., street noise was never an issue and we were within walking distance to Lincoln Rd., the beach, shopping and everything else that South Beach has to offer.

It was my first trip to Miami, wanted to find a cool spot near the beach at a decent price. That is what we got and more from the Marlin.
Cannot say enough about the concierge, in particular Alex, who helped plan a completely unplanned weekend.
The place is simply amazing. Extremely chic, complete with a TV in the mirror controlled by a supplied iPad.
I only wish the bar downstairs was open. It just underwent renovation when we were there. The place looked beautiful. A perfect lounge spot in a perfect location.
Only reason I took away a star was because the walls do seem a little thin. Miami is truly a city that never sleeps, and I heard every elevator bing up and down.

I came here to see ArtOfficial perform. The place (the lobby at least) is super chill with purple lights and the most comfortable white couches in the world. The stage is on the second floor, so you look up for the entire performance. Sounds uncomfortable, but really isn’t. The drinks were extremely inexpensive. I’ve never stayed or even seen any of the rooms but it was definitely one of the most comfortable and intimate show experiences I’ve had. I’ll go back.

I stayed at the Delano, but I considered this place so I decided to take a peek inside in case I wanted to book it for my next trip to South Beach. All I can say is ICK! It was dark, there was no one at the front desk and worst of all it smelled. Odd that a place that gets lots of ocean breezes could smell like funk. I’m really perplexed at all of the positive reviews for this place on Unilocal.I looked at some other review sites and they were very negative. I didn’t see a room, but just based on the smell I’d say stay away from this place.

A couple of my friends stayed here for spring break. Each room is themed, kind of cheesy, but fun for a bunch of semi– classy college kids. Very close to the beach. Not too far away from a lot of clubs and fun touristy stuff.

Hotel– The Marlin Hotel is a true boutique property with only 12 Suites. The 12 Suites are very big for South Beach Standards with the smallest being over 450SF. All of the suites are equipped with stainless steel kitchens, in-​room bars, cd players, tv/​vcrs and accommodating bathrooms featuring aveda lifestyle products.

Very cool spot. One of my favorites in South Beach. It’s more rock n roll than Miami. Never seen the rooms only partied at the bar. Good music and very cool vibe. The place is not huge and can get packed. I would call The Marlin a boutique dive bar.

Been here for parties for the WMC and it outdoor area is nice to kick back and schmooze with friends. The indoor area, although remodeled recently, is still not very condusive for great dancing.
