SoBe You Tropical B&B Hotel

I called and reserved a room and the gentleman I talked to was extremely nice at first and told me he would leave the key for me because he had taken off to run errands, which was fine until I showed up 4 hours later and there was no key and no answer when I called. Other guests saw me and stopped to talk to me and said they didn’t have a problem or ever had any issues when they called the owner. I water for 2 hours calling and leaving messages and never heard back.

Good:
1. retro style with 50’s tile, crown molding, etc.
2. friendly staff
3. Huge jacuzzi (no pool)
4. Walking distance to many amenities
5. Clean facilities
BAD:
1. A lot of deferred maintenance: exposed wiring, broken tiles, holes in walls.
2. Located across from a fire station and on a Sat night there is a call every hour or so.
3. Wall AC is close to the TV in a small room. AC on can’t hear TV.
4. Walls are thin, could hear the couple next to us watching porn or filming their own.
5. Prices are relatively high
6. Breakfast was very average
7. Room #2 is very small!
8. No pool

After a couple weeks of bunkering down in the fort marathoning Netflix and Hulu pretty intensely, the wife and I wanted to do something a little different this weekend. We ventured on Google to find a couple places to rent for the night with decent reviews but came across SoBe You! Bed and Breakfast and HAD to give it a try (specially since they are pet friendly and accept dogs of any size which was KEY for us and our Lola).
We approach the property and were immediately greeted by a well-​groomed landscape with a tasteful looking sign that is hard to miss. As we go to check in, David (the owner) gave us a warm welcome while handing us the keys to the front gate (entry to the property) and our room. When reading the reviews of previous customers, we were concerned about having parking issues, but luckily for us there was a space on SoBe You! grounds that was vacant long enough for us to stay without using other, more costly, alternatives. The b & b pool/​deck was clean and the layout of the patio allowed for the space to be used perfectly. Which leads me to my next point, by no means is this place considered huge/​massive. But the layout of the rooms, pool/​deck, breakfast area, and bar is very tasteful and promotes an overall homey feel to the space provided.
We made our way to our room and were very pleased with what we saw: a beautiful king-​sized bed, bright white sheets/​pillows (which were extremely comfortable), Britto décor, a large, what seemed, 50 – 55 in. flat screen TV in the corner of the room resting on top a desk with all sorts of channels and a guide to help you navigate, a mini-​fridge, a couple of safes to store valuables, iron (no ironing board), and (although small) a bathroom/​shower that was tastefully designed/​arranged (with plenty of towels and shampoo/​conditioner/​body lotion/​wash). The space available also had plenty of room for our boxer dog and her bed, so she was a happy camper. The ONLY complaint we had that night was the thin flooring/​noise coming from our neighbors on the second floor. We could hear a decent amount (not too bad), but thankfully their hardcore suitcase rolling tournament (HART for short) didn’t last very long.
Breakfast time! We eagerly got ready the next morning to get our AM munch on, and were not disappointed. David had a variety of bread loafs (sliced), croissants, all sorts of natural jams/​marmalades, fruit, hard boiled eggs, variety of hams and cheeses, oatmeal, cereal, mini/​regular cupcakes, mini apple/​pecan pies, Greek yogurt, coffee, assortment of tea, orange juice, grapefruit juice, and cold water. All with a bossa nova jingle setting the mood in the background. A large flat screen TV was also in the corner of the dining area for those that needed some entertainment while eating their morning meal. There’s also a bar area with 2 TVs available for use, but we didn’t get the opportunity to hang out there for our overnight stay.
Shortly after breakfast we were in the mood for a nice stroll around South Beach and David escorted us to the cruise bikes SoBe You! provides to their customers for $ 10 per 4 hours. Quite the deal when comparing them to the pricing of the rental bikes around the city. The wife and I had PLENTY of time to ride around, check out the scenery around South Beach, explore the park that is right next door, and make it back in time for check out.
Overall, we had an AMAZING experience and were pleased with every aspect of our stay. My only wish was being able to stay at least another night, but tomorrow is another day and we are eager to come back to do just that!

My wife and I stayed overnight in Miami because of a gap in connecting flights. My wife found this place online, and made reservations. We stayed in room 2, which had a comfortable king size bed with comfortable pillows. The room was very clean but pretty small. The bathroom and shower were very small but very clean. No glasses for drinking water in the room. No coffee maker. There was an iron but no ironing board. There were two safes in the room. Walls were thin and noises from the next room and the pool area were audible. The wall mounted air conditioner was noisy and pretty close to the bed, but it kept the room cool.
Breakfast was a disaster. Nothing was cooked. I expect more from a bed and breakfast. It was served in a patio area outside the house and because of the rain we all got wet, as did much of the food. The mini muffins and pastries were store bought and wet from the rain. Bread and bagels were also store bought and covered, so they were dry. Two very good granolas were available, but weren’t labeled. The milk was starting to turn bad. The coffee wasn’t hot. There were apples and bananas, and juices and cold cuts.
The man restocking the breakfast food didn’t make eye contact or speak with the guests during breakfast. We didn’t feel welcome as guests.

Absolutely wonderful stay! Very welcoming, clean, a beautiful swimming pool and bicycles to rent at the end of the street, so you can go everywhere without drive. Everyday they propose a different option for breakfast, but you can ask for anything you would like, they are very accommodating. You may have to share your bathroom with another room, but it is an amazing place to stay.

Guys, there are new owners. I have been coming here for years and this has always been my favorite place to stay in Miami however, the last couple of years some things that needed improvement, did not get it.
Until now. The new owners, whom I have not met, are doing a fabulous job. The staff they hired are extraordinary. They go out of their way to help make your stay as nice as possible.
New and improved:
There is a chef who prepares great breakfasts end the are different every day!
The internet is very speedy!
The garden around the pool is beautiful and well maintained.
Every night candles around the pool.
Old and fabulous:
It’s clean. Every day.

The beds are so comfy.
So I will keep coming back and recommend the place wholeheartedly.

I read reviews on Trip Advisor, which touted SoBeYou as a «hidden gem.» I agree. We stayed for two weekend nights in late September, and the cost was about $ 150/​night. Home-​cooked breakfast was included. One morning we had a Belgian waffle with fresh strawberries and cream; the next morning we had shirred (baked) eggs with tarragon, cheese, and spinach with an English muffin. Both just wonderful!
I booked our reservation online, and they wrote me a week before to ask if I needed a parking space and what time I thought we’d arrive. Very considerate! We paid $ 21 each way for a ride on the Go Airport shuttle from the Ft. Lauderdale/​Hollywood airport. It is a short walk to the beach, and a bit longer walk to Lincoln Drive, but very conveniently located. I agree with other reviewers that the room is a bit tiny, and yes, a microwave would be a welcomed addition. I don’t like that they allow smoking outside because the breakfast/​pool area is so small, so there is no avoiding it if you are outside. And they didn’t change out our towels but maybe I was supposed to leave them on the floor as a signal that I wanted fresh ones. Usually hotels leave you a note saying they want to conserve water blah blah blah, but if you want fresh ones, leave them on the floor, but SoBeYou didn’t have any notice like that. They did, however, make sure they put an envelope out for a tip for housekeeping.
Super friendly staff, clean rooms, good location. Overall, I was pleased with finding this «hidden gem.»

My wife and I spend a couple nights at SoBeYou last month before a cruise. Overall we were pleased with our stay, but there are some pros and cons of staying here:
Pros:
*Very clean; the grounds are beautiful and the staff was hardworking keeping everything squeaky clean.
*Friendly owners; we received a warm welcome and they were very open to providing advice on places to go while in South Beach, but not at all intrusive.
*The location is very nice; just a several minute walk to the bustling areas of South Beach, but far enough away to be peaceful. There are restaurants nearby as well as a Whole Foods. A taxi from the airport (MIA) was $ 29 (fixed price) if I recall correctly — they also offer free parking at the B&B if you have a car.
Cons:
*The rooms are tiny; this was my first pre cruise stay where my hotel room was smaller than my stateroom on the ship! While the room was functional and the bed was comfy, the bed took up most of the room, the TV was tiny and the bathroom was miniature (and a bit dated as well as in need of some repair/​upkeeping). The pool is tiny as well.
*While the rooms are no-​smoking, the grounds are not. This is very unfortunate in a place this size. There was one couple staying the first night we were there that were smokers — and if they were smoking by the pool the entire pool area reeked. They really should ban smoking on the grounds.
*While there is free wi-​fi, the connection is slow as molasses.
Neutral:
*The price seemed a bit high for what you receive, but South Beach is expensive so I guess this is understandable. They seem to regularly be busy (and were full during our stay) so I guess the price is not out of line for the area.
*The breakfast was pretty tasty, but not the heartiest breakfast I have had at a B&B. The coffee was good. There is an afternoon tea, but it is tea only — no food. It would be nice if there was some light appetizers or wine or what not available.
All in all we had a decent stay at SoBeYou, but due to the rooms being so tiny and dated I do not think we would return here at this price point. If you want to stay in South Beach and be away from the loud/​noisy areas and do not mind small, somewhat dated accommodations though, then this is an excellent option.

This is a great B&B. My girlfriend and I just returned from a vacation in Miami, we had a private room away from the main house and we were very satisfied with this place. The rooms are very clean, the beds are amazingly comfortable, the staff is very friendly and helpful and they serve you actual breakfast each morning instead of muffins and coffee like other B&B’s. The location is great because it’s in reasonable walking distance from So​.Be. Across the street is a beautiful park if you don’t feel like dealing with the strip. A few blocks west you will find a Whole Food and other shops. The neighborhood is peaceful and safe at all times of night and there are no shortage of cabs if you don’t feel like walking. The only thing that I would ask for as far as the room is for a microwave. With the location you are going to be eating out every night basically and the room has a mini fridge but there isn’t a microwave in the room or in the common area so that was a bummer but no biggie. The only thing I would suggest is avoid 10^th street when you are walking. Literally 5 mins after dropping off our bags and walking outside a biker was hit by a car that ran a stop sign. The biker was ok and rode off into the sunset but on the very next block a gentleman stopped at a red light, looked both ways and then ran that same red like LOL. Needless to say my girlfriend and I made sure NO TRAFFIC was coming every time we reached an intersection. But we had a great time. Also the B&B provides towels that you can take with you to the beach and they have a small book and DVD library in the common area for if you just want to have a night in. For the price, amenities and location it was well worth it. I would definitely stay there again.

I like to stay off the beaten path, but still like to be safe, have quality accommodations, and have attractions conveniently located around me. The So Be You B&B delivers on all counts. The friendly staff and home made full breakfasts were icing on the cake. Highly recommended from a critical reviewer!

I prefer to go locally owned whenever possible, as is the case with this bed and breakfast/​hotel just steps off South Beach. No corporate/​chain blandness here, this is a wonderful, friendly place to stay where the owners are often on premises.
Rooms are cozy and clean, with very comfy beds and you are likely to meet your neighbors over the included free of charge amazing, healthy vegetarian breakfast. That’s what sold me, the made from scratch breakfasts were delish! The free parking is much appreciated since South Beach parking can be costly and a bear. It is considered gay friendly but it is also family friendly since we stayed with our daughter. We definitely plan on returning soon!
