There should be two rating categories: one for convenience of hours and location, and another for food and service. On hours and location, Pizzeria D’Angolo would get 5 stars. It’s on the corner of Washington and Espanola, accepts credit cards where other late night pizza places do not. The fresh air on the outdoor high top tables provides for great people watching of your fellow nightlife enthusiasts heading out of the clubs whether solo, with an overnight celebrity or stumbling. It’s a great«checkpoint» to avoid the revenue collection(I mean, traffic safety) checkpoints of MBPD. Ambiance was cool. I’m guessing the night manager was inside and bantering in Italian with the staff. Music was a little bit on the mellow side,; Elton John’s «Don’t let the sun go down on me» springs to mind. A little too slow and depressing for an end of the night song, methinks. When I first walked in, trying to find out whether they were still serving food, I was greeted by the guy who ended up being my waiter, with a «I don’t cook». Then there’s the food. Perhaps I’m a pizza snob(which is why I had such an intense spinning workout earlier) but the pizza did not excite me. It tasted like flat bread with cheese and a very light sprinkling of marinara sauce and basil tossed in. As it were, with one of the slices I could not taste said seasonings until almost the end of the pizza. The latte I had(in a tall glass) was redeeming, and served with a head of foam. Service — of course subsidized by the minimum mandatory tip(18% I believe) — was spotty if a little bit pushy. I had barely finished the first slice when the guy was trying to clear my plate and ask if I wanted another main dish or dessert. I eat enough, and don’t appreciate being rushed. With said tip, my bill ended up being a little over $ 20. I’ll stick with the average of 3 stars. It’s convenient, and it works to soak up your drink. Would I take a first date BEFORE the club? Probably not.

This would be the third time I’ve been there and I still think it’s great. Definitely one of the best pizza spots I’ve been to. The pepperoni is delicious. Their beer is great on draft and the waitress and waiter from before are suuuppper friendly. I’d go more often if i could.

I wouldn’t go this place for the mere fact that it is owned and operated by the same scumbag scam artists as Hosteria Romana. Go there at your risk as the apple does not fall far from the tree.

Good oval Italian-style flatbread type of pizza at the corner of Washington Avenue and Espanola Way. $ 15 average price for one pizza, big enough to share for two. Pasta, sandwiches, paninis, salads are also offered. Good option for South Beach especially considering the hours they’re open. They close at 5AM Friday and Saturday, and at 3AM every other day. This restaurant is a part of Hosteria Romana’s empire.
