Amazing, delicious food! Attentive, courteous, wait staff. The food was authentic and comparable to that found in Italy. Highly recommend!

I had a great meal in this restaurant, just try the Veg. Soup and Shrimp fotatcini for the main course. The service was amazing by Mr. Desi. I will defiantly go back there again.

The reviewers are right. Old school Italian. Not too fancy but solid. Nice atmosphere but slow service. Recommended.

First of all I ordered a dish in which the waiter responded they were unable to make it that night because they were missing a character from the kitchen. Next, I ordered the clams orreganata as appetizer and the waiter asked me if we really wanted it because«it would take a long time to make» and it literally ended up coming out before the salad. LOL. Food was ok. Service was horrible … Like they didn’t even want my money. 2 stars for decent food. 3 stars off for the service.

Walked here from the Eden Roc hotel where we were staying and it was worth the walk. The food was tremendous — truly authentic Italian! I had the tortellini capriccio and my wife had the chicken parm and not only were they delicious, but the portions were huge. And be sure to save room for dessert as they bring over a cart full of amazing desserts and there’s really no way you can say no to that. Oh by the way, even with a very upscale setting, they allowed us to come in dressed super casual — along with our five month old and the waitstaff was extremely nice to us!

Pricey Italian food. I had the chicken parm sandwich which was actually 3 sliders. It was ok. My daughter had angel hair in butter. It was a plate(8oz) of overcooked Angel hair(which is easy to do with that shape pasta) for $ 16. I would go back but only if I had no other options.

I came here for lunch yesterday. It was completely empty and we were the only table. The place is the classic old style sophisticated style place with the white table clothes and wine glasses sitting ready to be filled. It was rather dark but we sat near a window so I was fine. The bread was fantastic! However the dish I ordered wasn’t to my liking. I ordered the Pollo Florentine. It was very very buttery which I do not like at all and tart. Not sure how they managed that. It was a chicken breast on a bed of sauteed spinach. I barley touched it but the waiter did offer to bring me something else. I said no it was ok. They charged us for it though. My friend got the pasta fagoli, that was very good. I am not sure I would go back.

Slow service. Took two hours to get my medium rare house special lamb which arrived as hard as a baseball. There was no one to complain to as the waiter dropped it off and didn’t show back up till the bill arrived. Pasta was good… but after two hours of wait we filled up on bread to truly enjoy it. Best part was the bread which gives Avanti a second star.

Unilocal reviews took me to this place on my last night in Miami, and I am REALLY glad I decided to check it out. It is not far from the hotel where I was staying, but it is away from the beach and feels like more of a local hang out. Starter: The Lamb meatballs — the sauce was definitely fresh –excellent!!! Main: The sausage rigatoni — a huge portion, delicious. The shitake mushrooms added a lot to the flavor of the dish. Side: Spinach and mushrooms sauteed. VERY fresh tasting. I didn’t finish them because the rest of the meal was filling. I had a house white wine– I had never had this type of white, and the server provided a sample. A generous pour. Service– It was sort of a long wait for food, and the table next to me was complaining about how long they were waiting for their food. In fairness, it was a Friday night and they were busy. The hostess apologized to them and told them there was a «mixup» in the kitchen with the salmon. I think they made the wrong dish or something. She was very attentive and apologetic, and I appreciated her sincerity in trying to make them happy.

Love this restaurant. Old school delicious Italian food… what could be better? Dim lighting, carpeted floors, proper table linens(yay)Warning: The bread is addictive. Don’t even start. We ordered the arugula salad(they split this and each dish in the kitchen) very good. Clams vongole, yummy and I’m not sure what our chicken dish was called: Chicken with lemon & wine on a bed of spinach. All delicious I ate it quickly and happily. Also had a Tito’s vodka straight up with olives and they did it right. It was a generous pour It’s still noisy, but lovely. The service was great, the portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, we will return.

We have been coming here for 26 years and happy to see with all the restaurants opening and closing in Miami Beach, it’s still as wonderful as ever. There’s no place like a local favorite restaurant. The prices are reasonable and the service is excellent. Louis, the owner, always makes us feel like we’re at home. A true gem and Miami Beach landmark!

This was a great place to bring the family for a good meal. Everybody had more than enough food which is key for an Italian meal. I had an eggplant and ricotta dish which was very good. It was a bit«crispy» on the top which is not my preference but other than that it was a very good meal. Both boys ordered a bolognese dish and said it was extremely salty. After tasting the meatballs which they ordered separately, they figured it was something to do with the meat that made their meals so salty. Nobody else had this issue so we figured it was the meatballs or meat sauce. The restaurant was very busy but our server gave us consistent attention. Great service with a smile! He was also very helpful in making suggestions and describing the dishes. A great place to bring the family for a good meal with great service. You won’t leave hungry.

Had a great time eating here for lunch during my stay in Miami! While in a pretty quiet neighborhood, the ambiance of the place was quite upscale. I loved the Christmas tree and the interior decoration — made it feel like an Italian restaurant that you might eat at in New York City. The prices on the menu were quite fair, and both my mother and I were happy with our lunch entrees. — Meatball Salad for me(plain… I know) — Grilled Vegetable Sandwich for my mother(which came with delightful carrot fries) Not sure when next I’ll be in the neighborhood, but I would definitely come back again.

Overall, the food at Café Avanti is above-average and prices are fair. The atmosphere is nice albeit loud. However, the service is abysmal. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed for a Tuesday night, rushing from table to table or disappearing for 30 minutes at a time. For the duration of our visit the manager could be seen flirting with female customers or drinking behind the bar. Multiple requests(for simple things– drink refills, butter) went unanswered. The final straw was the realization(thanks to another Unilocaler’s review) that they add the tip to your bill in fine print– read the review as a friend was signing the credit card slip and writing for what would be their SECOND undeserved, large tip of the night.

Good location, the whole settings are promising, but the service is just bad. Food taste okays, but it’s just at par, nothing surprising. Yeah maybe we don’t look«important», but we paid for our food and deserve decent service. Oh they automatically charge you tips, so that’s why they don’t bother I guess.

For starters the ambiance is very romantic and peaceful. I agree that there should be some Italian music to play while having dinner… We tried the veal meatballs that were highly recommended and they were great. Didn’t blow my mind as I’m use too beef meatballs but they had their own unique taste that was delightful. My wife had the Lobster Ravioli that was very tasteful, smooth sauce and great texture on the ravioli. I tried the spicy shrimp spaghetti that was very good. The spicy pasta was not over the top, and held a strong yet flavorful taste. Do recommend if you like spicy. Lastly, home made tiramisu allowed us to end the evening sat sifting our sweet tooth.

Before going to this restraint I looked up the reviews and saw some good and some bad. We were 10 adults and 2 kids and the atmosphere was perfect– not too dressy yet not too casual. The food was delicious! I saw a bad review about the spaghetti entrée and I decided to try it because I always try spaghetti at new places and it was actually very very good. I enjoyed it a lot. Aside from the pros– the cons were the desert. Don’t get the strawberry cheesecake… It tasted like moose. It was odd. Other than that, great food! True Italians!
