Barok Miami

Kudos to the person who did the décor. I appreciate the effort, however the rest was unimpressive. Food was over priced and of mediocre quality. My melons tasted frozen and the french toast was… well, i could make better french toast than the ones served.

Not even worth the one star. Ate here one Sunday in September 15. Even though the restaurant was almost empty the food took an hour to reach us. The fish was dried up and cold. Recommend you go anywhere else than here unless you want bad food and terrible service. To add insult they added 20% service charge to our bill!

Service is good, very friendly guy took my order on the phone.
Food was pretty good as well. We had the chicken salad, the burger the grilled chicken breast and the chocolate suffle.
The only thing I was bothered by was the extra charges for being a hotel guest.
When I made the order on the phone I was informed that their would be a $ 3 charge for room service.
Once I got my total there was an additional gratuity of approximately $ 12.
I asked the guy if it would be OK to come down and pick up the order, he said no problem… (saving over $ 15 on coming down and up again on the elevator sounds like a good deal).
When I got my bill downstairs I noticed that they still tagged the extra charge for some sort of service.
The guy who help me who I must say was very nice both on the phone and in person said «they add this charge because they had to put the food in the to go containers and bag»… that sounded like a nice excuse to get some more $$$ from a tourist …
If you sale food, preparing it should be included on the price and shouldn’t cost 20% more .
If you are already charging the extra amount, inform your customers before the order is made.
Gratuity is something that should be at the customer decision… I don’t mind spending money and showing my appreciation for service.
I do mind getting ripped off and not being informed about it ahead of time.

Great hidden gem Tucked away and Red South Beach hotel. I sat at the bar but they have a great pool so if it gets a little cooler I recommend sitting outside. I had the salmon sandwich which was very tasty and the french fries were delicious. I would like to return to try some of their signature cocktails that I saw advertised but since I was on a business meeting I just had water.

Stayed at Red and decided to have lunch by the pool. I ordered the Salmon Club and my wife ordered the Chicken Club. AWESOME! Not too expensive. They were about $ 13 each, but they we’re HUGER sandwiches. It was nice because we lounged by the pool and were able to eat in our bathing suites. Really casual. Recommended.

We just came here for happy hour. We were told to find a seat. We did and sat for over 20 minutes without being acknowledged once by staff, although others came in and their drink orders were taken. We left and were still not acknowledged… will not be back!

We came here for breakfast. To say I was underwhelmed it to put it kindly. I ordered the «deluxe» breakfast. Strangely it came with a larger croissant as well as a French baguette. We scrambled egg whites were okay but the presentation was awful. It looked like a white steaming pile of dung. I ordered turkey as my breakfast meat and it looks like they took it right out of an Oscar Meyer wrapper. The breakfast potatoes were so salty it felt as if I were biting into a salt shaker with each bite.. I wish there were an option to give zero stars because That is what this place deserves

My husband and I each ordered the Breakfast Platter Deluxe. It was a LOT of food and very tasty, especially the potatoes. One star off because the bread that came with the food wasn’t warm and seemed like it may not have even been fresh. I would go back!

Booking a large party at this restaurant was one of the biggest hassles and nuisances ever!
We had a party of 20 for our bachelorette party and I had initially called to make a reservation. The hostess told me that she’d take my name and number down and the events coordinator would call to help us get the reservation set up, since a set and limited menu would be required for parties that large. I waited a few days. No calls from anyone. I decided to call back and again, the hostess apologized and said someone should be giving me a call soon. Again, a few more days passed and no one called. At that point, I was getting worried, because our party was technically not on the books, so I went online looking for an email address. I sent a message through their portal, and finally, their events coordinator, Rudy, emailed back the next day.
A security deposit was required for parties our large, which was expected, but the «set menu» was so limited. The least expensive option was $ 38 pp and had only two entrée options for the party. I decided to email Rudy back with some follow up questions — 2 days passed. No answers.
You would think that they would be excited to book large parties, but apparently not. I looked into a different restaurant right down the road (Cantina 27) and they were able to book me immediately with no hassle for our large party.
It is unfortunate that we weren’t able to even give this place a try, but honestly, if their service was this bad even before we got there, I can’t imagine how it actually is to eat here.
Thankful Miami has many other choices in restaurants.

If you’re look for gaudy Miami décor you’ve found the right place. But if it’s good food that you want, make a u-​turn and run, don’t walk, AWAY from Barok. The «highly recommended». bolognese was pretty much bathed in salt water and rendered inedible. The seafood risotto had overcooked (and slightly metallic tasting) scallops. Why spend $ 50 on subpar cafeteria food here when you can go anywhere else and eat human food? Seriously folks, grab a drink at the bar (maybe) and then get out. There is a reason why this restaurant is empty on a Saturday night.

I had lunch today, as usual it was great, the food was awesome and now it feels like my restaurant because I know the staff since I always come back!!! Looking forward to go back in my favorite restaurant! Thanks Barok team!!!

Rib Eye was totally not worth $ 30.00 and the Carmel cake was a joke! The cake is more like flan its not a cake. Took almost two hours and the drivers claims that traffic is horrible.

I had lunch from here. It was really good! I opted for the lunch combo, half sandwich, half salad.
I chose the turkey club — SO good. The half was much larger than I thought it would be and was quite filling. For the salad, I chose the caprese salad. This was ehh. The tomatoes were riper than I like them to be, and there was only a drop of balsamic vinegar inside the oil & vinegar dressing. Not horrible, but I’ve had better caprese salads. I also ordered a vanilla cheesecake, which was pretty good too.
Overall, I’d order from here again. The sandwich was good enough to have me coming back.

Ate dinner by the pool, the place looked fantastic and the food was excellent! Kuddos to the waiters they were very nice and polite. Highly recommended!

Found Barok while searching for a breakfast spot in the area. The eggs were standard, with the turkey sausage and seasoned potatoes slightly above average. Beautiful setting poolside. Orange juice was the cheap concentrate kind, which is a real surprise in light of Florida’s abundant citrus crop and the fact that fresh squeezed is the standard in most of Miami. Overpriced for the quality. With a few small quality improvements, this could be a 4 star breakfast.

Very beautiful setting and delicious meals.
I visited in March 2014. The waiters were courteous and the pool-​side setting was refereshing.
Tip — I used a groupon deal for a party of 3.

This was the 3^rd time I go to Barok but I often order for deliveries. They also did a catering for our business office in Miami. I have to say that the food is absolutely delicious ! The service is good, staff very professional and friendly.
The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere, and The hotel lobby is gorgeous!
Go there during happy hour as you will get the most bucks for your $ !

ZERO STARS
Unfortunately, I blindly read some of the other Unilocalers reviews on here regarding this restaurant… in fact I may have read none. I just looked at how many stars this restaurant had and ASSUMED it couldn’t be bad.
WELL, fellow Unilocalers, I’ve come to give you a BREAKING NEWS STORY, this restaurant is a total joke and a sham.
If you check the other reviews, you will find that many of them have 0 friends and maybe one or two reviews per each so called « Unilocaler». They lie and they lie hard.
What went down:
1) Called the «restaurant» ahead of time to find out if they were still serving brunch. They said «Yes, until 5pm». It was 2:30pm when I called.
2) Called again as I was getting close to find out where to park. They said they have parking for $ 30 ! (I’m thinking, I’m not staying overnight!!!)
3) Parked 5 blocks away from «restaurant». Walked past heaps of construction, noise from traffic jams, mothers & baby carriages, tourist couples where the guy has his shirt off, broken sidewalks, no sidewalks, construction workers telling me that I can’t walk there etc
4) Arrived at what apparently is a hotel, the Red Hotel. Did not know that.
5) Sat down at table. Waited for waitress… nobody was there but us.
6) This «restaurant» is NOT a restaurant. This is a place to eat, IN THE LOBBY, of a hotel, that I am not a guest of, in fact, the way the tables are situated is completely disturbing, uncomfortable, unexplainable, lonely, illogical, stupid…
7) We asked for their «brunch», absolutely starved by now… it’s 3pm, maybe later, probably later… I don’t know… it was a long, disturbing journey to get to some food
8) We were told NO. There is no such thing as brunch… it shuts down at 11am (like most other normal hotels… these are my thoughts)
9) We left.
It has been standard practice lately in Miami Beach, when you call and ask if they are still serving brunch, that whoever answers the phone lies. This has happened not only at this place but several others in the past 2 weeks.
Forget about the Red Hotel and this so called «restaurant».
You are gonna get screwed when it comes to service (thats a given when it comes to miami beach)
You are gonna get screwed when it comes to get breakfast. You better go to a 24 hours place like the News Café or Maxine’s or you are going to get nada.

Everything about this place was just bad.
We had reservations @6pm, for 7 people. There was no table ready and we had to wait twenty minutes just to be seated.
Everything started ok but got worse.
Ordered @630pm didn’t receive our food until 745
— our appetizers took an hour just to come out
— ordered steak and it was made incorrectly.
–asked for white rice, got fried rice.
–never refilled our drinks, had to ask multiple times
–mahi mahi was way too salty.
–bread for pasta came out AFTER the pasta
–asked for mashed potatoes they completely forgot
It was obvious our food had just been cooked. Instead of being cooked when we ordered them.
They brought out each plate ONE BY ONE so hungry people had to watch others around them eat
We had reservations they should’ve been prepared!
We had plans at 9 and it really delayed our plans
DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU WANT GOOD SERVICE

I enjoyed a tasty lunch overlooking the pool at Barok last month. The service was a little spotty since it wasn’t very busy, but the caprese panini was really good and reasonably priced for South Beach.

Breakfast was good, eggs cooked in butter which I wasn’t mad about.:) Everyone enjoyed their meal.
French toast made from baguette, was delicious. Service is uh «miami» but food made up for it.
