After reading the great reviews for this bar, I was excited to check it out. I stayed in Miami from Thursday through Monday and tried stopping by every night I was there. On Friday and Sunday, there was a private event going on and the bar was closed. This wasn’t a huge deal, but a sign or something that said the venue was closed would have been nice. We even asked the front desk of the hotel both times and they said it was open(obviously not). On Thursday and Saturday, the bar was closed when we arrived. On both days, we got there around 11⁄12. Unilocal says its open till 2am so I was surprised. So disappointed. I’m sure its a great bar, but some communication to the front desk and a truthful hours of operations would have been nice. Oh well.

This place is pretty awesome! Great service, nice cocktail list, and a neat atmosphere. You can enjoy drinks inside or outside and they have some smaller food items also. Definitely a great place to check out; perfect for a pre game drink, or just a nice causal night out. It can be a little pricey, but nothing outrageous and pretty standard for the area.

Tucked away in the Thompson back area, the 1930s House is a really cool, throwback spot for some very nice mixology and really good cocktails. When you walk in, you’re greeted by a dimly lit, old house looking ambiance — sconces, candles, and a huge chandelier being the only ways you can see. Really cool vibe. There are a bunch of small, intimate tables with velvet arm chairs. It also was a nice touch to have a live, Latin instrumental band with trumpet and acoustic serenading the lushes! +Cocktail recommendations: Ceviche Sour: Delicious with a pepper bite. Añejo Old Fashioned: smokey, chipotle house syrup makes this like drinking a chimney cocktail. It’s fantastic.

We hit this spot for some post-dinner drinks and it was awesome. Great environment for drinks and conversation. The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming and the drink menu offers something for everyone. Management was very attentive and professional too. Bathrooms were kind of far from the tables, but a small price to pay for such a fun night.

We stumbled upon this gem after checking other reviews on Unilocal. This bar/house has a wonderful old Miami charm with a modern feel. Morgan and Quentin gave us amazing service! The drinks were spectacular. I highly recommend the«Tranquilo and Tropical» Service was amazing. Laid back ambiance was spot on and drinks outstanding. Looking forward to returning with friends.

I thought this place was just OK. Hit by the smell of frying donuts walking in and later as a group and I were having a drink… that got a little annoying… don’t think the ventilation is good here. Drinks were good though and service was all right too. Place seemed dead on a Saturday night… was expecting more to be happening here.

This place is amazing. Atmosphere and service both absolutely wonderful. Morgan was our server. She made amazing recommendations for food and drinks. We tried the Hemingway Royal, Buena Vista, Belmonte, and the Tranquilo & Tropical drinks. All amazing! The food was insanely high quality and delicious. We had beef tartare, the crudo fish tasting, and the ceviche along with the pequillo peppers. Everything was very good. Finally, Morgan recommended the plum and apple pie and it was divine. I recommend this place x1000.

Awesome spot. Came after dinner and there was a live band playing Cuban songs and everyone was dancing and loving it. The cocktails are delicious!!! Definitely my new favorite mixology bar. If you come here, order a drink off the drink menu. I sat at the bar and overheard people ordering vodka sodas and I couldn’t believe what they were missing out on. I ordered the tranquilo y tropical and the casa ponche. Honestly, this is one of Michelle Bernstein’s spots so you know you can’t go wrong! I didn’t try the food but I intend on being back soon to do so! If you’re at the beach and looking for something to do, this is a great place! The bartenders were also really friendly and super into their craft.

Inside the Thompson hotel. this little gem of a bar offers both outside and inside seating. We saw an incredible Cuban band here a couple weeks ago. I have to say, it’s worth it to get there a bit early as this place is intimate and can get quite busy/packed. here’s a charcuterie case inside and a bar menu we did both as we stayed for 3 nights. We tried the drinks and appetizer here really good but of course on the pricey side. But my 4th star is really for the ambience and the quality of entertainment!

Drinks were a little overpriced, but i would not recommend this establishment if you want a nice relaxing and safe place. I was assualted there when i was with my girlfriend and another couple and management did nothing about it, the bartenders wanted to keep over serving guests to make more money. Even the GM does not know how to follow up, i had 3 different phone calls scheduled with him and he never called me. I will never go back nor recommend anyone to go there.

Fantastic location(if you are staying at the Thompson) but great live music on the weekends nice outside area to sit relax and have a couple drinks. Desert is a must have cheese+guava donuts and other tapas to order. No real big dinners just drinks and creative appetizers. The live music is actually really great and the vibe is worth checking it out! A bit pricey but save it for a good time. Must try the Cheese+Guava Donuts

The Belmonte is a well put together drink with a hint of spice. The croquetas sampler is small but really good.

This place is so dope. I feel like this is where The Great Gatsby comes to slay dimes and kick it with his boys. Absolutely and positively loved this place. Amazing atmosphere and the drinks were so, so good.

Loved the atmosphere and the restoration of «real» 1930’s house. We came just for the cocktails and tapas. The drinks were simply amazing. We had the Hemingway Royal and the Mule. Served in an ice cold copper cup. Very chic. Prices are what you’d expect for these delicious drinks and food. Can’t wait to return.

Do you remember the old terrazzo granite floors(«piso de granito» if you grew up in Hialeah? What about cheese and guava pastries aka pastelitos de guayaba y queso)? I’m sure you also snuck a little sip of rum when your parents had a house party right? Well, now you’re grown up and you can enjoy an adult and upscale version of it at the 1930’s House. Located inside the Thompson Hotel in mid beach, I met up a friend this weekend and enjoyed this chill Hotspot. We sat at the bar enjoying the classical 80s and 90s hip hop and R&B while sipping expertly mixed libations from Michael. There was a slight oops with my friends first drink and he made it right. My drink of choice was the Hemingway Royal: a mix of Bacardi Facundo Neo rum and prosecco, and garnished with a fruit slice. Perfectly fizzy and cool, it went great with the fig and gorgonzola croquettes and pan con tomate(caprese and prosciutto sandwich tapas). On the savvy recommendation of two other people at the bar, we also tried the soft, gooey and sweet cheese and guava croquettes. Enjoy your drinks at the packed bar, or take them outside to enjoy the evening by the reflecting pool where the beats provide an evening soundtrack.

Hidden 1930s house within the Thompson Hotel pool area. On a Saturday night you can find the dj playing theowback 90s R&B and hip hop jams. The crowd is tasteful mostly hotel guests and not too crowded, which I love. Must trys are the cheese and fig croquettes, pan con tomate and serrano ham, and the guava cream cheese heavenly dougnuts. The cocktails are really great and Michael at the bar makes them well! I love how charming this little house is and how it extends into the pool area if you want to sit and catch the cool miami beach breeze. The tapas are a bit on the pricey and small side but really, really good.

Cute hidden gem behind the Thompson hotel. It feels like a beach side bungalow, small, kind of quaint with a nice ambiance. The staff is really great, the ceviche was yummy and they have lots of good suggestions for cocktails. I suggest stopping in! It’s by the pool.

This is the cutest little hidden bar I’ve ever seen! You would totally forget where you are when you walk in because it was like a transformation once you walked in the door. They had a really good live band that was playing Spanish music. What stood out the most was obviously the cocktails though. The most inventive and tasty cocktails I’ve ever had. I personally consider this bar the new broken shaker that hasn’t really been discovered yet so it’s not overrun but rude obnoxious people. I only had the cocktails here, not the food but the menu sounded really good! Little tapas, perfect for bar bites. I can’t wait to come back! P/s– the kitchen here closes at 12AM!

This place is tucked away inside the Thompson Hotel, behind Seagrape restaurant. It really is a bit of a maze to find your way through the pool area to this charming little … house from the 1930s, picked up and relocated here. The ambience can’t be beat. It’s an upscale space, BEAUTIFULLY appointed – with the Thompson’s trademark impeccable service.(«It’s a pleasure.» And they mean it.) I only stopped in for cocktails – $ 14 to $ 15 – but they also serve tapas-style bites. It’s a great place to end the evening, especially given the chill vibe of the place. And with validated parking for $ 5, it’s hard to think of a better place to go after dinner.(Hell, Seagrape is an awesome restaurant, so a good night might be migrating from the main event to the little house out back.) I had the ceviche cocktail, which was a warm spicy(jalapeño spice) citrus drink with a dash of cilantro. I really enjoyed it, and my friend got a house sangria overflowing with ornamented, alcohol-infused fruits. It was cocktail-bar art. By the bye, our server Katana was one of the warmest, most attentive servers I’ve ever had. Her smile was magic, and she was sweet to boot. Love this complex, and can’t wait to go back. Indeed«it’s a pleasure»! :-D
