We teach traditional technique and combine it with contemporary songs to keep the student involved playing music they can relate to while mastering the instrument.

Individual Computer Based Recording lessons with an experienced recording engineer are offered as well.

History

Established in 1989.

Started as The Sam Ash Music Institute, the Groove Academy has been in continuous existence in central New Jersey for over 20 years. Since we moved to our location in Metuchen we enjoy the company of other student related businesses around us.

Meet the Business Owner

Ed C.

Business Owner

A professional musician, arranger, conductor, educator and all around musical entrepreneur from an early age, Ed has headed the Groove Academy for the last 8 years. He continues to participate in other areas of the music business (as do the faculty members of the school) in addition to his duties here. It is because of this continuing participation in the industry and choice of teachers with performance background that the Academy is as contemporary as it is. Ed is a graduate of Fordham University with studies at the New England Conservatory, Berklee College of Music and the Juilliard School.
