History
Established in 1994.
The Mansion, built in 1889, two blocks from the Ohio River, was the showpiece of the Quante Brothers’ business empire. The Summers Riverview Mansion Bed & Breakfast beckons guests to enjoy the tranquility of the Victorian Era. Like most homes of the 1800’s, the Mansion features working fireplaces, etched glass transoms, and hardwood floors. It has been richly furnished with a variety of period antiques.
The Mansion was crafted in the late 1800’s and served as an estate celebre‘ when it was first built. Since then, it was used as a hospital and convalescent home during the Depression, served many wounded warriors during WW2, and as Metropolis Doctors Hospital in the 1950’s. When Massac County medical facilities opened, the Mansion was restored as a private residence then as a Bed and Breakfast. The Chapel and Event center is a recent addition.
Modern conveniences have not been forgotten. All guest rooms have ceiling fans, and private baths, free WI-FI and 24⁄7 personalized service.
