Mr. Move

They have many court cases against them for holding peoples furniture and telling them they must pay thousands of dollara in order to get back the furniture. The owner named Dundwoodie McDuffie III has been to St Tammany Parish jail regarding these matters. First his company was named S&S (Starving students) now they moved locations and are named Mr. Move.

I have never written a Unilocal comment before, but feel I should warn you. This is the WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER!!! I moved out of my 1 bedroom condo to a storage until 2 blocks away. 2 men with gold teeth showed up 45 minutes early (which I was not prepared for). I was not home. They charged me from that time. They proceeded to move at a snails pace, and took 4 hours to move me. Mind you, I had everything moved into 1 room for them to make the move faster, and have an elevator. Once they got to the storage unit to unload, they held my furniture hostage in their truck and demanded more money. They would not unload until I went to the bank to get more cash (and charged me for that time). Total cost was $ 700. When they finally unloaded, they demanded tips (which I refused) and they proceeded to yell at me when I did not give it to them. Six months later I hire On-​time movers (will highly recommend them to anyone in the future) to move my stuff back from storage, in which they said who packed your storage unit. It looks like it was booby traped it. It was packed so poorly. They movers from Mr. Move had broken a leg off of a chair (not repairable), broke an antique vanity, and every piece of furniture I have with wood had deep gashes on the top. DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS!!! Call On-​tme movers, you will not be sorry. You have to supply your own truck, but since the last guys held my furniture hostage, I wanted to be in charge of the truck. I paid 240 for 4 hours in advance to be safe, in which they finished much earlier and offered me a refund. I told them they were so great, they could keep what was left.

The move out of my (Lakeview) townhouse and three miles away took EIGHT HOURS. The move to that townhouse from uptown took 3 with another moving company. Total cost? $ 900! I have 3 (pretty skimpy) bedrooms and I had moved 10 SUV loads of boxes already on my own! They damaged several pieces of furniture, kept asking for breaks, and just generally had bad attitudes. I stupidly ignored the other reviews I had seen on Unilocal,which I advise anyone reading this not to do.

Dealing with this moving company was the worst waste of an afternoon.
I called in a reservation for 10am, but the earliest opening was 12 noon. Since that fit into the schedule I needed, and I had a rather miniscule move (a couch, a bed, a dresser from a storage unit to a house down the road), I figured it would be fine. The person who took my information told me that the driver would call when he was on his way.
At 12, I arrived at the storage unit and called to confirm my moving crew. The dispatcher confirmed that I was scheduled for 12 but let me know that they were delayed on the previous job, but that the job was close and that it should take no longer than 30 minutes for them to wrap up and be at the unit. I told the dispatcher that I had to wait at the unit because I had limited access (i.e. I didn’t have my own key, etc., to the unit so I was using someone else’s time to access it, and couldn’t wait around all day). The dispatcher said it wouldn’t take longer than 30 minutes.
At 1pm, still waiting at the storage unit I called back and asked what the ETA of the crew was. I reminded the dispatcher (same employee throughout) that I had reserved the movers for 12noon and been told they’d be there no later than 12:30 and now it was 1pm. She put me on hold to check with the driver and returned to tell me that they would meet me at the storage unit at 1:20.
At 2 pm, my boyfriend called back and the same dispatcher told him that it would be about 10 minutes, and that the driver would call when he was on the way. Ordinarily, I’d have given up on them awhile before all of this, but they were the only moving company out of 11 I had called that were free that day and were within my budget. So here I am, two hours later, believing I’ll never get my stuff out of storage and moved into my house because I either cannot afford or cannot book a respectable moving company.
At 3:00, the dispatcher said the movers were actually on the way AT THAT MOMENT and would call when 5 minutes away.
…At 3:30 pm, having waited for enough time to begin to visualizing nightmare scenarios of never seeing my stuff or another person again, I called and canceled and got a new crew the next day. The kicker? The dispatcher sounded genuinely shocked. We never saw the crew or heard from the driver.
I know the dispatcher has no control over when the crews get to the jobs, but in keeping with that, perhaps the dispatcher shouldn’t have issued seemingly arbitrary times to me in an attempt to keep me waiting. It was the worst way to spend an afternoon, and if I’d thought I’d had any recourse, I wouldn’t have wasted so much time on a company that, had it owned all the shits in the world, still wouldn’t have given a single one about my situation or my money.
Don’t use Mr. Move. Their dispatcher is a patronizing fool and you can do bad all by yourself.

Damaged furniture, twice the estimate and movers that I ended up having to help and were indignant at the fact that I didn’t tip them enough.
I moved a one bedroom apartment EIGHT BLOCKS and it cost me $ 750 dollars by the time the movers milked the clock.
They give you an estimate, load your stuff on the truck, then you have to pay them based on how much time they think it’ll take to finish. If you don’t pay them, they threaten not to release your stuff (a small print clause, BEWARE).
The best part? They damaged my couch, claiming they couldn’t get it in, so badly that they ended up hauling it away. So on top of the fact that the move cost me an ridiculous amount, I lost my couch.
