NEVERGOINGBACK! RIPOFFS! Brought my 52″ T.V. in and paid $ 96.00 deposit. I was told by the customer service rep. that they would look at it in the next couple of days. After six days I called since I didn’t hear from them. I was informed that I needed a SSBCBA board and the part had to be ordered. The cost… $ 399.00! Well I thought I already paid $ 99.00, might as well pay the $ 399.00. I was told the part would take a couple of days to come in. I called back 5 days later and was told the tech. hasn’t gotten to my T.V. to put the part in and the part DIDN’T have to be ordered! I decided to take my loss and pick up my broken T.V. I did see some TV’s for sale. Must be the ones from customers who lost their deposit and left their T.V. with them. A win situation for McCann Electronics!

*See Westbank Audio Services Review ** This review is for home theater/AV Repair only. McCann services large equipment like Cannon copiers as well and I have no experience with them in this regard. *** Please allow a quick rant: Why do 99% of people only use Unilocal for restaurant reviews? People have no problem writing a scathing review when their order is incorrect at Taco Bell but for some reason don’t write a review when their mechanic rips them off for $ 1000 unnecessary repairs. On the flip side, there is nothing people love more than writing page long reviews of their $ 2 beignets at Café du Monde but forget to let people know about their great HVAC repair guy. I digress. I had a home A/V receiver(5+ years old but a very nice brand/model) where the LCD readout panel suddenly stopped working. There are very few electronics repair companies in the GNO area and this is the most well-known. I called and it was explained to me that there is a $ 91 diagnostic fee which if you have the repair done by McCann is applied to the cost of the repair. The technician also informed me that the repair would probably be somewhere in the neighborhood of ~$ 300+ if what is thinks was wrong turned out to be the problem. McCann is also famously overpriced for their repair work. Being out of warranty and over a half a decade old piece of electronics, it is obviously best to just purchase a new receiver. Westbank Audio Services has a $ 21 diagnostic fee which is applied to the cost of the repair should you decide to repair your device.

I found this place on Google after a friend told me I could have her 42-inch flat screen that had stopped working a few months prior. I couldn’t find any feedback about McCann’s online and was a little nervous as I drove out to an unfamiliar area of town where the shop was located. Once inside I felt a little better – it’s obviously a family-run place that has been open for a long time. They charged me a $ 96.00 diagnostic fee which is standard for TVs over 32-inches. The fee goes towards repair but if they aren’t able to fix the TV then you don’t get a refund which felt like a bit of a gamble. I dropped off the TV and they assured me they would call me with updates. I ended up calling them first as a week or two had passed and I still hadn’t heard anything. They told me they were looking for a part that they may or may not be able to find and would be in touch. Once again I was getting nervous that I had lost my diagnostic fee; fortunately they stayed true to their word and got in touch with me shortly after that to say they were able to find the part and make the repairs after all. They were cool about keeping the TV at the shop for an extra 2 weeks after it was ready since I had to unexpectedly go out of town. Pick-up was a breeze, the price was fair, and best of all: the TV worked like a charm. I recommend McCann’s for your electronic repair needs.
