Lakeside Camera Photoworks

I love this place!!! They take awesome pics of my kids and then they print great! Taking Santa pictures was a wonderful experience. You are not rushed and the prices are very reasonable!!!

I’m from out of town and just stop by this camera store. It is unbelievable. The amount of things you can do with the photograph are incredible everything from metal to canvas and everything in between. I highly recommend this place. Also they do have lots of nice cool cameras.

After my last review I’ve received a response from Lakeside Photoworks, which was appreciated! Since then I have placed 3 more orders. (I really do love this business) On each of these orders I received phone calls to say they were ready, thank you, thank you! My orders were perfect and I’m so happy to continue to do business with Lakeside Photoworks! Keep up the great work!

I’m not from New Orleans — Son-​in-​law took super picture of mom with his iPhone — had that ugly eye that the flash from eye phone gives people — expression was perfect, the eyeballs looked ugly — nice lady at Lakeside (apologies, I don’t remember your name) treated the order like it was a million dollars, did some electronic artistic magic to make the eyes humane — made a print that will become a family heirloom. These folks know their stuff and they care about their customers. It wasn’t a big value order but they didn’t let that bother them. Since then have sent orders through their website and had outstanding success, more than fair pricing and very prompt delivery. Can’t say enough good things about them.

I went into Lakeside the last week of March looking to buy a dSLR. I have known several people who have purchased their cameras from Lakeside and I know of a couple of photographers who use them and are happy with them. So, I went in with high hopes of being sold a wonderful camera that would make me happy. To say I was disappointed is the understatement of the century.
The kid who was helping me showed me two cameras, the Nikon D3100 and the Canon Rebel T2i. And that’s about where it stopped. He told me a couple things about each but didn’t really tell me enough about the cameras to really make me interested in buying either. I knew this was a big purchase and I came prepared. I was able to tell him what was important for me to do with the camera and what wasn’t and I still wasn’t sold on either. I was their for half an hour and I left. I didn’t know the questions to ask and he didn’t tell me anything to make me ask questions. I went home to try and figure out which camera to buy. Oh, he did give me a website to use to research the cameras. That didn’t help…
So, even more confused I went back the next day to ask questions. The kid I had talked to wasn’t there so I talked to someone else and was hopeful for more information. I explained everything over again and he didn’t help at all. He put the two cameras on the shelf and let me touch them. I asked him to show me the cameras, explain them to me and his response was «When you buy a camera from us we’ll show you what you need to know.»
They also charge $ 90 and require 3 days to do a sensor cleaning on dSLR cameras. This is not necessary. Bennett’s Camera charges $ 25 and will clean the sensor while you wait. It only takes about 10 minutes.
I was really disappointed with my experience at Lakeside. They couldn’t, or maybe wouldn’t take the time to sell me the camera. I ultimately went to Bennett’s and bought my camera there and will never go back to Lakeside. Also, I have purchased a frame and mat from Lakeside to match the frame and mat a friend had purchased my husband and I as a wedding gift. While the girl who helped us mat the picture was helpful, I felt that she wasn’t truly interested in helping us get what we want. She walked off to start cutting a mat for us before we were sure what we wanted and ended up going with a different mat. Again, she helped us, but we had to be very assertive to get what we wanted.

In the beginning I found this place looking for local photography classes, and now I love it.
They have a billion choices for the average person to make any kind of print and all kinds of neat products.
I recently had 10 tiles made that I’m using for coasters, and one aluminum print that came out nicely.
The staff is super friendly and always helpful. I noticed from another reviewer that they take forever to get to you. I’ve never had this problem, they always have helped me in less than 5 or so minutes. Also, I saw that someone was disappointed in having to print a receipt to have them take and then make prints. Also, not necessary, if you want one of the staff members to take care of your prints all you have to do is ask them. The computers are there for people who like me sometimes don’t take the time to pick out what prints I want before I get there and can then go to a computer and choose myself.
I’ve also taken about 10 classes there and I bought my most recent camera there as well. Richard Vallon is the teacher and he’s a hoot. You’ll love him. Even though I already know a lot of what is taught in the classes I always have fun and am entertained the whole time.

Terrible service! I ordered a couple of Art quality prints which were not cheap from the Northshore location on a rush so I could enter them in a contest the day of their scheduled arrival. After much searching it was found they had been overlooked on the delivery to the Northshore. They nonchalantly told me to come in the next day after I had payed for a rush job. If they can’t get a simple thing like a rush delivery right, why would I trust them to do anything else right?

A great place to get photos printed but on the pricey side. Also, a lot of my pictures get printed pixelly, and they don’t know why. They have all the ammenities you need to buy photo equipment, print digital photos, make a photo book, print and enlarge or fix old photos, and even turn negatives and slides into pictures.

Of all the dedicated camera shops that i’ve visited in the area, this is the best. They have a long counter of people helping you choose your future camera. They were pretty busy on a Saturday when I visited, but i was able to find some one who was able to help me find some camera accessories. they have a good selection and wide range. I happily walked away with a nice tripod that didn’t break the bank and perfect for an amateur.

Not a place for film people. No darkroom stuff, just loads of filters and bags. They do cross process at least but don’t do slide or black and white (send out) an they Dont sell film! Regular store Bought film only. Boo!
To top it all off they completely screwed up my order. They did not cross process anything, meaning they sent everything out regardless of the notes I left. They called me to tell me my black and white film was finished but I hadn’t turned in any black and white. I did ask for negatives only and they managed that one at least. Some places screw up the whole order AND give me prints.
Basically someone cant read instructions there so — insist its written in large black marker if you go there.
Not a place for professional photographers who use film. its a place for people who want to print their baby pictures onto canvass.

The reason I continue to get my prints from Lakeside is because they’re cheap and quick. The only problem is that just about every time I go in, they take forever to get to me. I understand that you have to help people that were there before me. But they could at least greet me and say they’ll be with me in a minute. Ignoring me is not a good thing to do. That’s really the only negative thing I have to say about them. Maybe I’m just impatient? Who knows. But that one thing won’t stop me from giving them my money. I’ll continue to get my prints from there unless I find a better alternative.

We’d heard about Lakeside through contacts in the photo industry. Dave the owner had a great reputation. We buy high end photo equipment from time to time for our business. We look for best price, and credible, expert service. We’d been buying from the big online guys, but really needed better advice on some of the new stuff coming out. So we placed an order with Lakeside. Got solid advice, including full disclosure on some of the warts on certain equipment. Very helpful, expert, hospitable. And the price was totally competitive with the reputable sites out there. We wouldn’t have spent tens of $thousands with these guys over several orders if they weren’t solid. Perfect accuracy every time, over the last couple years of purchases.

There is no better place in the metro area to get photos printed. This palces is the best at taking what I see on my computer screen and making it look the same on paper. Don’t buy any camera equipment here though, or you’ll fork over a leg, a first born child, and both kidney’s.

This place is … strange. I went in wanting some photos printed and was assaulted with all manner of BIG COLORFUL SIGNS, printed with commands such as, «SHARE YOUR VISION,» «PRESERVE MEMORIES,» and «CAPTURE THE MOMENT!» Basically, their store layout is essentially their awful website manifested in physical space. It confuses one needlessly. But the people are helpful and quite nice.
The photo printing process is also strange, as it’s entirely automated at little workstations. You plug what you want in, print out a receipt, and then take it to one of the strangely labeled kiosks at the front, (I think it’s «SHARE YOUR VISION.») Wish I could just tell someone what I want?
But they do good printing work (just as good as NOLA Darkroom) at reasonable prices (much less than NOLA Darkroom), so there you go.
