History

Established in 1997.

Kamran Khoobehi, M.D. is on staff at Louisiana State University, serving as both a clinical professor and as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon at the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. During an eyelid reattachment surgery at the LSU Health Sciences Center, Dr. Khoobehi made history as the first surgeon in the world to successfully reconnect the network of tiny blood vessels in the eyelid. He is believed to be the first surgeon to accomplish this feat. Dr. Khoobehi’s efforts helped save the sight of his patient, a dog bite victim, and their story was featured on CNN, in USA Today, & in other major media outlets. He also pioneered the fat grafting procedure, where he used a patient’s fat to replace the patient’s saline or silicone breast implants.
