I had a great experience here. I came to get my wisdom teeth extracted and the surgery, that took place the same day and immediately after my consultation, only took about half an hour! I appreciated Dr. Jackson telling me how much he had done and had left to do during the procedure, because I like being aware of what is going on– even if I’m in a different world with laughing gas haha. And my recovery went extremely well. The swelling was already subsiding the next day so I was able to go to work. The front desk was nice. The dental assistants were personable. Dr. Jackson was kind, patient, and informative. I’ve never been to an office where the doctor took his time to educate me, even when I did not have many questions to ask. I have already recommended this office to friends and will continue to recommend because I was so impressed with how this office took care of me!

My first encounter with Jackson Oral Surgery was great. The pre-surgery appointment was fantastic. Everyone was on time, friendly and professional. Costs were explained to me in detail and everyone went out of their way to be accommodating. I was told my portion of the bill would be approximately $ 250 and my insurer(BCBS) would pay the rest. I paid my $ 250 portion and had two wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Jackson did such a great job that it never hurt or swelled. The post-surgery appointment also went great. At this point in time, they would have gotten 5 stars and been recommended to anyone. Fast forward five months later… I get a bill in the mail for over $ 500. When I called, they were extremely friendly and said that the insurer hadn’t paid yet, but they’d refile the claim and that should fix it. A month later I get the same bill in the mail, but this time when I call, it was a very different story. The woman I spoke to was incredibly rude. When I explained the situation, she point blank said it was my problem and I was responsible for the entire bill. When I said I didn’t understand how pulling two wisdom teeth didn’t fall under my dental insurance, she said she didn’t know but that they file claims«as a courtesy» and it’s my problem after that. She went on to say that BCBS was not in their network and that I should have paid the entire thing up front. She also said I could try calling the insurer, but they wouldn’t pay since it was out of network. When I tried to figure out how I should have known that when the costs were explained so specifically and that was never mentioned, she told me that the person working there before her had been fired and I shouldn’t go off anything she had told me. She became obviously agitated when I refused to pay the bill at that moment and threatened to turn me over to collections. She also referred to me as «sweetheart» in an very pejorative tone…“Well, sweetheart, if you won’t pay…”. I’m 30 years old, there is literally no reason to talk to a grown adult like that. In tears, I get off the phone and call BCBS. They very quickly inform me that no claim has ever been filed. After informing Jackson Oral Surgery of this, getting them to fax the invoice to a specific person at BCBS, and verifying that it had gotten there, remarkably, my claim was paid in full within 15 days. At this point, the same employee was sugary sweet and referred to me as «ma’am» the entire conversation. Two months after this situation was resolved, I get a check for $ 112 in the mail from Jackson Oral Surgery. I have no idea what it was for, the invoice wasn’t clear. But, it’s a little weird to wait over 6 months from the initial procedure and 2 months from when the bill was resolved to refund someone. While I was very happy with the procedure itself, I can’t honestly recommend a place that so obviously doesn’t have its billing and insurance filing together. Maybe I’m an exception, but I felt like I was pushed around and bullied into paying money that I didn’t owe. Had I not taken my own initiative and called BCBS, I would have been none the wiser that they never actually filed a claim. I’m not the medical provider here, but I had to take time out of my day to fix a problem that they caused. For me, a certain level of trust is necessary in a medical provider. By lying, not filing claims(through error or laziness), and generally being rude, Jackson Oral Surgery has lost mine. UPDATE: I received a personal phone call from Dr. Jackson apologizing for the situation. He informed me that personnel changes had been made and though my experience was the exception, it shouldn’t happen at all. I really feel like a genuine effort was made to rectify the situation. While I certainly hope I don’t require oral surgery any time soon, I am now much more likely to go back to Jackson Oral Surgery.
