Stunning inventory, overwhelming the senses with artist supplies. Wood carving knives, all paint mediums, easels, printing, airbrushing, brushes, drafting, books, sculpting, drawing: easy to locate and very friendly and knowledgable staff. Reasonable prices.

The best art supply store in New Orleans. Jacob, the young man that helped me was so well educated on the brush selection, I was quite impressed. Everyone at the store was more than helpful and willing to drop what they’re doing to assist and answer questions.

Best art supply store in the area. Knowledgeable about every medium, the owners are a delightful resource — if it’s not in stock, they’ll order it for you. I’ve been a customer for twelve years, and highly recommend David Art!

Jacob was super helpful. They have a nice pottery tool selection & brushes. Limited glaze and clay selection, but makes up for it in variety of other art supplies. 10% military discount too!

This is the most amazing art store. They have everything and more. I asked about several special art products and they had everything I wanted. The employees were very helpful.

A little pricier than what you’d see at one of the national art supply chains… but that makes sense because David Art Center is not a national art supply chain. They’re locally owned, family operated, and a great place for all of your artistic needs. The store itself is huge, and has at least a little something for every type of artisan/crafter. They carry an extensive range of drafting supplies and also do custom framing and easel rental. I’m a fan because they carry a wide selection of linoleum blocks and ink(printmaking is my latest all-consuming hobby) in a wider range of sizes/quality/colors than what I’ve found at Michaels(the only other art store option out in Metairie). The staff is super knowledgeable, too, and always ready to provide help in case you’re the sort who can’t tell the difference between Bob Ross and Dick Blick. Which you’re not, right? Come on. That would just be a bit gauche, and you’re not gauche, are you? Come on.

I love supply stores of any kind: office, home, art, you name it. Wandering the ailses and checking out all of the merchandise is just so enjoyable to me. David Art supply was like a personal mecca with all of its brushes, palattes, easels and canvases. They stocked everything you could ever need when it comes to art. While they did have some sales going on, things were definitely on the pricier side. Sennelier soft pastels were almost $ 5 per pastel! The store is local, though, so at least you’re supporting local business. Look for the funky yellow building off Vets.

This is a glorious art supply store! You roll up and the place is bright freaking yellow with weird stuff painted on outside of the building. This is what you want to see when you stumble upon an art store! The people working there were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about product. I found the pastels I was looking for — they had a great selection of brands to choose from. The dude gave me the lowdown on the various brands. If you love art supplies this is your spot. Great place to go in and nose around on a lazy weekend.

The group of sales people were friendly and very helpful. They seemed to have a large selection at a reasonable price. As for the large yellow building, I went home with a large yellow bag(to match the building) full of necessities and an extra item or two. Since you may well find everything you need in this large yellow building, making this your first stop in a search for supplies is bright!

New location in Fat City is about 4 times the size of their former Veterans Ave. store. I used to get a touch of claustrophobia before, but now I’ve got elbow room. It really enhances the shopping experience. p. s. If you can’t see their yellow building, you don’t need art supplies, but an Optometrist.

This is the largest art store that i’ve found in the new orleans metro area, so far.(i have a few more to visit before i can make this claim. In comparison to the ones that i’m used to(san francisco bay area) this si smaller, but the selection is just as comparable. they give student discounts. they’re really friendly, and helpful. I made a comment about on of their trianlge, s that i’d love to get on in a 3060, in the 18 inch, but wouldn’t make sense to actaully get one. The guy behind the counter said«i’m going to order you one.» please don’t because i’ll never buy it, i just want one. his reply, «don’t worry, it’ll be here for you when you do want to buy it». isn’t that sweet? I really like this place, so i’ll be coming back for all my art supplies.

I love to «buy local» but buying local definitely doesn’t come cheap. I frequent David’s because it is close to my house and I really do like to support small business. BUT the prices are pretty outrageous. Paints I normally get at Michael’s are about $ 1.50 more expensive here. They do have an extensive line of paint brushes and things you may not be able to buy at Michael’s but I would try first as you will pay for them. The staff is friendly and they do seem to know what they are talking about. They also offer small classes for some things like silk screening and graphic art. That’s kind of cool. Also, they have a framing section that seems to always be busy, but again expensive.
