Speed Specialties

In order to wring a bit more performance out of my 1993 300zx, I decided to port and upgrade my heads. The stock heads are already well built so I knew I had to find a high quality machine shop. I visited two other local shops at first but neither would inspect the heads or quote me a solid price for the work when I visited. Both also lacked experience in head porting. Another shop wouldn’t even bother taking my calls or returning my emails.
Speed Specialties really stepped up to take on the job. They even took the time to compare two similar castings right when I stopped by. Their shop is quite clean and materials are kept organized.
After a couple weeks of constant porting, I was treated with some of the best looking ports I’ve ever seen. Then, the guys completed the 4+ way valve job with a precision valve cutting machine. They also installed some Ferrea valves, JWT valve springs, JWT mild cams, viton stem seals, and new lifters. Through the process, both Garys kept me in the loop. When finished with the work, they walked me through the entire process as well as how/​where material was removed.
After installing my heads, both aligned perfectly to the lower intake. A leak-​down test revealed no leakage through the valves. The finished heads are more than quality products, they’re precise, high performance works of art. I know where I’m taking my next engine projects. Great work!
