I don’t know why people are giving these guys a bad rap but they are utmost professional when doing dealer transfer. A little more than some but they go above and beyond each time, thanks guys!

Wow I thought Walmart was bad this place is awful from customer service lady up front talking and dont even a greet us as we walk in, to the guys at the gun counter with their smart attitude we go in looking for a Glock 42 after waiting about 30 – 45 mins for someone to help us finally a guy named«Sal» walks over and pull the guns out the show case and walks away …(lol yea I know walks away, to continues the converstion he left off with his co-worker about some duck shooting they were doing the day before) And as well helped our selfs and Google most of the questions we had cause it seemed like we he didn’t wanna help us … So we kinda looked around hoping we would find someone more knowledgable like a manger or supervisor then after seemed like we were being ignored for some reason I finally ask one of the guy that claimed he was the gun counter manger and before I can ask him anything he kept trying to get me to fill out a credit for a credit card for gander min. I told him no several times and he was very persistent finally when I told him to see the gun and he knew a little better than the other guy I made my decision and I got the gun and a few other thing plus another hunting shotgun for my buddy… after we were done talking and we are walking towards the register he asked me again about filling out a credit app as I was about to walk out of the store I just told myself to just calm down and just fill out the nessary and pay and then leave. …well didn’t really work out that way since«sal» the original guy it was his sale he had to help me fill out all the paper work since I have CHL should made thing a lot quicker. But it didn’t after all the confusion were there for about 1 he trying to correct all the mistake he made on the background/transfer papers I guess the guy was new… well I complained long enough it’s time for me to go just wanna warn you better know what your looking for before you go up there don’t depends on their expertise …

Good selection of firearms and I was able to find a lot of .22 mag ammo today. Prices to high though. Customer service is horrible at best and when I did finally get help they were not sure about any thing I asked about relating to guns. It’s a shame management doesn’t seem to have a clue

Ha! Hunting and Outdoor? I think not! They didn’t even know what a dummy for training dogs how to retrieve is. I walked around the entire tiny store twice without anyone noticing my confusion. After asking the kid working the register, he said«uh so what do they look like?» I said«they are orange and they float, they are used for training dogs to retrieve ducks, Remington is one brand that makes them.» He goes uhh, no, no we don’t have those.“ He did offer to call another store, but I just said I would go to Academy, right next door– to my surprise, they had no clue either. Unfortunately, the youth of Mesquite are not familiar with the hunting and outdoors products that these stores carry. I feel that they should do a little bit more product training before putting employees out on the floor. They were not helpful in going to the hunting or pet section and attempting to look with me to try and find the product.

I visited this location last Saturday to purchase some centerfire range ammo for the next day. As is usual these days, I inquired whether or not they had any .22lr ammunition. The response was an eye roll with the statement that they were only selling some with the purchase of a Savage Rifle. That was a perfectly adequate answer until I got to the checkout. At that time, an older man with his two sons was checking out. He had two 50 round boxes of .22lr and a few other small items. I commented that he was lucky to get the ammo and that he must have gotten the last ones. He replied that«they have it in the back only for certain customers». I guess I’m not special enough for this store, and I won’t be going back.

My first visit to a Gander Mountain store was yesterday. The store just recently had it’s grand opening in Arlington TX. After spending about an hour in the store, I walked out fairly disappointed. At first, I was excited to see a very large amount of merchandise to pick from in the camping, hunting, fishing and clothing areas. It did not take long to see that this store has pricing that is not very competitive in most areas. Much of their merchandise falls within the higher priced brands. When it comes to mid level merchandise is where they lose the pricing competitiveness. Much of this type merchandise can be purchased for a much lower price at Academy, which is about 2 miles away. It was enjoyable to peruse the large display of firearms available in this store, but the pricing was way out there. I will not be shopping at this store unless I find a sale that is fairly priced.

Today was my first time in this store. I was ignored then treated rudely and followed around as if I was trying to shoplift. I will not be back to this store. I also wouldn’t recommend gander mountain to anyone. They are also outrageously over priced, you’ll have better luck shopping online.

I am a fan of this store now… great selection and they will match prices on guns of any store in a 30 miles radius

This is a smaller version of their normal stores I am told. They opened not more than two buildings from an Academy Sporting Goods store. This being the grand opening, they have some decent prices on ammunition and clothing. The prices on their firearms and other items however show that they are use to operating in the Northeast. I was in the store for 45 minutes and watched several people buy ammo but nothing else and then leaving to go to Academy. A used AR-1520 inch barrel(DPMS) with obvious rust on the barrel was marked $ 1099.99. is just one example. The store is set up for hunting with a small fishing and camping section, nothing else. If I can’t find something anywhere else I might go here. Whoever decided to open this store at this location is either an idiot or a geniuses, only time will tell. All I know is the Academy next door managed to kill off an established Oshman’s and keep even Wal-Mart out of the area for the last 10 years! If you don’t mind paying premium prices for gear and guns you can get a thousand yard down the road for a lower price, If «The NAME» of the place you shop is more important than the value of your dollar, then this place is for you.
