Carpet Outlets of Texas Inc

In the spring of 2015 we purchased vinyl plank flooring from Carpet Outlets. From the moment the installer arrived we had issues.
(1) The manufacturer and in store personnel recommended a moisture barrier underneath the product but the installer showed up without it and claimed he never put it under this type of flooring. After he made a call to Carpet Outlets he went to Home Depot and purchased a moisture barrier (even though Carpet Outlets keeps it in stock). Further, it appeared that the installer had never laid the plastic barrier before because when they were done it was crunchy underneath when it was stepped upon and came up the walls on the other side of the room at crooked intervals. Any attempt to touch this plastic would unhinge the flooring. The installer and the owner claimed they could not hear this crunchiness and made minor attempts to fix some of the worse areas but the others remain noisy.
(2) The Installer undercut several of the planks where they touch the wall so much that the baseboards would not cover them. They had to come back out and fix this.
(3) The Installer severely undercut every one of our door jams by so much that you could stick your fingers under them. They used a saw zaw and not a jam saw so they high and uneven. A second installer had to come back out to make this right, but not by replacing the door trim but by using lots of caulk.
(4) The second installer came out to put down the flooring transitions from the new floor to older carpet and linoleum. He secured it with Liquid Nails. Unfortunately the product has never dried and its been over two months. It clearly says on the Liquid Nail product that is it not to be used for flooring and we have shared with Carpet Outlets correspondence from the Liquid Nail manufacturer confirming same. We also confirmed with the manufacturer of the flooring that double-​sided tape should have been used on the transitions. There is also a chance, still, that the warranty on the flooring itself has now been voided because of the use of Liquid Nails. We have advised Carpet Outlets of this but they have yet to make arrangements to come out to pull up the transitions, clean them up and reinstall them with the proper product.
In the meantime, our furniture is still up on dollies and unassembled in other rooms months later because until the transitions are corrected we are reluctant to put down the rest of the baseboards which keeps the floor from popping back up. Painters tape is still holding planks together and we are still waiting for Carpet Outlets to make this right.

I have been researching where is the best place to buy carpet, what would be the best kind for our needs, which includes foster dogs with occasional accidents. I found Carpet Outlets of Texas online on Angies List and from a different site that recommended COT. I filled out the information on their website and received a phone call within the hour. From that point on, it was the easiest process that Ive ever been through on such a big home improvement purchase. They knew what would be best for our house and dogs, and didnt even try to sell me the most expensive carpet. Wow! Bruce came out to measure and give an estimate, showing up at the time he said he would. He is very professional but also personable and was done in a timely manner. Such a great price, and I was expecting it to be a lot more. The installation guys couldnt have done a better job. The were so careful moving the furniture onto the wood floors, and I didnt even have to ask them, they just did it. The carpet looked wonderful and they cleaned up perfectly.
Customer service is actually a priority to COT and thats getting harder to find. Its like stepping back in time. Thanks, Carpets of Texas!

Exec. Summary: I found Carpet Outlet of Texas (COT) to be the best value in terms of price, selection, and service for carpeting in the Dallas area.
COT installed carpeting in our home last week. I had shopped around for about a month before selecting COT.
COT has a very large selection in their showroom. Prior to COT I went to Home Depot and Lowes. COT has at least 3x as many choices. Also COT uses the standard mill names for the carpeting so it’s possible to compare prices with other vendors. Home Depot and Lowes does not, making it difficult to comparison shop (similar to the mattress industry). After finding the carpet I liked, I investigated prices if I was to order the carpet online and ship it to my home. The price for the carpet was almost the same. COT broke down pricing for carpet, upgrade in padding, and installation, so it made it easier to compare. So for the carpet, I wanted COT was offering a decent price. Padding upgrade and installation was also reasonable.
COT did a good job in measuring the area. Carpet comes in a 12 foot roll and when ordering from the mill, you specify the length. I believe they measured and charged for 99 ft. and they ordered 100 ft. (a little extra) from the mill. After installation, we had about 12ft x 2ft left over, so only about 2% waste (not counting the cutoffs which is probably another 2−3%). Really pretty good.
Their installers were friendly, thorough, and professional. They did an excellent job. There were a couple item during the installation which they overlooked (one location where the carpet hadn’t quite made it under the baseboard for a couple inches and a little remnant spot of glue from joining the carpet), but when I pointed it out they took care of it immediately.
If you want good carpeting for your home, you will get good selection and service at a reasonable price from COT. You may be able to find cheaper carpet and cheaper installation somewhere else (COT also has cheap carpet but they try to point you away from it telling you why it’s cheaper). This may be what you want if you are flipping a home. I wasn’t; I plan to live in my home for a long while. Last thing I wanted was to save a few hundred (maybe a thousand) dollars, get bad carpet, and poor installation. COT didn’t disappoint. Granted it’s only been a week since installation so I don’t have wear information but I’m quite content right now.

I’m always hesitant about reading reviews without knowing a little more about the reviewer. I am a homeowner who was replacing the builder’s carpet (10 yrs old). I am in no way affiliated with COT or with anyone that works at COT. I don’t review much; this is my second review.

Always accommodating and the best prices in DFW! Was surprised by what all they offered (all types of flooring, granite, clocks and my new favorite the Big Green Egg). Didn’t go in because of Angie’s List, but now I know why they are so highly ranked. Never wasting my time shopping elsewhere again and going straight to Carpet Outlets!

Originally found these guys on Angie’s List when I flooded my house awhile back and these guys came in and saved the day. They were quick, reasonably priced and did a really good job. Replaced all the floors in the house, with the exception of the kitchen and sunroom. They put in hardwood laminate and mohawk carpets.
