Schmidt’s AC Service Company

Unfortunately this business is still operating. They were assigned as the contractor by 2 – 10 Home Warranty for an emergency a/​c repair, despite my attempts to get them reassigned after first contacting Schmidt’s. From the first conversation to the last this company is extremely unprofessional. Their service department is handled by a woman named Randi. She should never ever work in a position where she talks to a customer. What really made me mad is I was told the parts for my a/​c were being delivered from Tucson and would arrive Thursday afternoon. So I scheduled the appointment for Friday morning between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM. At 9:30 AM I called to see if there was an update on when the technician would arrive. I was told 1:00 PM! Once again by Randi, the most unprofessional person to ever have to talk to. At 1:15 PM I called back because the technician still had not arrived. I FINALLY talked to someone other than Randi. He told me he would call the technician and get back to me. At 1:30 PM the technician called and told me he would arrive at around 3:00 PM. The work was finally finished around 4:00 PM. So instead of only taking the morning off work I was forced to take the entire day off. Randi was very aggressive in telling me they had something else they had to do and I would just have to wait. This is NOT acceptable; what’s the point of making an appointment if they are not going to arrive at the scheduled time??? This job took 4 days to complete. This was supposed to be an emergency repair. But every time I talked to someone at their office, which unfortunately most of the time was Randi, they mumbled something about having a Trane install. So apparently they are a licensed Trane dealer and that is their priority, and it shows. They will always put Trane above anything else. They should never received repair jobs from home warranty companies.

After our ac distributor blew at midnight and it was already 88 degrees inside before 10am. Only to find out the incorrect service was requested by the property manager to the home warranty company I was near tears. I was told all their techs were totally booked for the day. Within the hour I get a call back saying they found someone that could see me RIGHT NOW, could I be there? I thankfully hadn’t packed the baby and dog in the car to hit a hotel yet. They sent Emilio out! He was fantastic, quick, tidy and just an awesome guy! He tracked down the part and had everything in top working order (including finding/​picking up and repair) within 4 hours. He showed up exactly when he said he would too!
I can’t thank them enough for saving our day!

As a property management team we work hand in hand with hundreads of vendors each year– sometimes our hands are tied to specific vendors when we must file a claim with a home warranty company. Our experience with Schmidts was one of those times. Our office will ALWAYS ask to have a work order assigned to Schmidts by a warranty company re-​assigned to someone else– we simply will not work with them after the treatment we just experienced. If you have a warranty and they assign Schmidts– know that you do have choices in vendors– Schmidts does not deserve the steady stream of business from warranty companies– and it is likely because they get a «steady stream» of business from warranty companies that they treat customers the way they do– because they really do not need you and they make that fact very apparent with how they communicate with you.
Today– we had a tenant write in let us know their ac was not cooling properly so we filed a claim with 2 – 10 warrant who assigned Schmidt’s to the call. We received their contact info and I immeidfately emailed schmidt’s at both the email that 2 – 10 provided us as well as the email listed on their website (2 different emails) to intruduce our team and I included the 2 – 10 work order information as well as tenant contact information on a pdf attachment. I instructed them to call our office as soon as they recieved the work order directly from 2 – 10 so they could collect the service call fee and re-​iterated that the tenant contact info was included on the attachment for them to call to schedule with directly.
2 hours later I pick up a phone call from someone looking for the owner of the home (so I knew it was the ac company) I asked if they were calling to collect a service call fee and the lady (who we later discovered was «Randy») said she was calling to schedule an appointment. I asked if she had gotten our email with the tenant contact info.
Randy at this point became extremely aggrevated she made remarks such as «I have the work order in my hot little hand, there are 2 numbers on here» I asked if she had recieved the additional email directly from our team (The Spectrum Group) as I needed to be certain that the communication I had sent had gone to the right people. She exclaimed (ie nearly shouted) that she had printed off everything– I told her I was happy to give her the tenant contact info directly over the phone but that I was concerned that the email I sent had not made it to them. Her tone was so short and nasty that I ended up asking her if she was getting angry with me– and this sent her over the edge. She became so exasperated with the conversation that she roared «EXCUSE ME? What did you just SAY to me?- you know what — I will call you back later– I do not have the temper to deal with you right now»
and then Click– she hung up.
I was so bewildered by the entire interaction.
My husband (and co-​worker) called the company back and when he reached her and explained the house he was calling about– she sent him to a voicemail.
We called 2 – 10 and had the work re-​assigned to another vendor– of course now 2.5 hours without properly working ac for our tenant in June in AZ and we are back at square one waiting for a new vendor to contact us– because «Randy» did not have the «temper» to professionally communicate with us.
Avoid this company– do no use.

Do yourself a favor and never use this company. After 5 days with no AC, they never showed for their 11 – 3 appointment. We cancelled the service at 4pm, since they told us they weren’t going to come until the next day. I filed a better business Bureau complaint on this company, and they lied saying they were 2 miles away from our home when we canceled the request. Save yourself the time, money, and hassle and NEVER use this illegal, lying, terrible company.

Woke up Sunday morning to no AC and it’s going to be 106 today. Called my warranty company and they told us some will call us in 48 hours to schedule a visit. Instead, 30 minutes later we got a call from Schmidt’s AC Service and the said they could be out later today. One hour later the tech showed up and fixed our AC. Great customer service, quick turn around and a fixed AC. Thanks Schmidt’s!
