Tucked alongside the northern edge of Western Colorado’s beautiful Grand Mesa, Powderhorn Mountain Resort offers breathtaking views, over 1,600 acres of mountain terrain, a stress-free, relaxing experience… and did we mention, powder?

Powderhorn averages over 250 inches of light, dry Colorado powder each winter and also boasts some of the best tree-skiing in the state. Powderhorn has been called «The Soul of Skiing,» in tribute to it’s laid-back, friendly vibe. And with over $ 800,000 invested in the mountain during the past year, it’s a resort with a big future.

In addition to trees, and snow, and more snow, Powderhorn offers all levels of terrain, a full-service, professional ski and ride center, rentals, and base area dining and lodging. It’s a perfect destination for families, couples, groups and friends seeking a winter adventure.

So welcome to Powderhorn: Where the pace is slower, the smiles are broader and the powder is deeper. What will Powderhorn do for your Soul?

History

Established in 1966.

* Powderhorns official opening Date & Dedication was Summer 1966, Set to open for Skiing Fall 1966

* Skiing around the Grand Mesa area is rooted back to the late 1930’s where a rope tow powered by an old truck which required a fresh battery every day, serviced two runs.

* In the Mid 1940’s skiing was moved to the Mesa Creek area which is now known as «Old Powderhorn» to accommodate beginner skiers and enhance the terrain for those who needed a challenge.

* A Poma Lift, funded by the Lions Club and the community, replaced one of the rope tows. This same lift, known as «Lion’s Lift,» was later moved and used at Powderhorn Resort until 2005.

* And now… here with are approaching the 201415 Ski season with an amazing terrain, great glad skiing, and even more room to polish Powderhorn and the amazing Gem it truly is.
