University Drive (Dobson and University) in Mesa, Mastodon Professional Body piercing offers a consistent staff with over 20 years combined experience. I went to Mastodon to get an industrial piercing and a small tattoo. I did not have an appointment, but they were able to take me in right away. I got my piercing first since there was a tattoo in session. Shane was super chill and did a great job placing the bar. When I was done there, I got my tattoo with Laney. Love her! She is a great artist (her walls are covered in her previous work) and really nice. I’ve gone back for another tattoo since with her and plan to go to her for others. They’re not open super late, so plan accordingly.

Mary is my girl. She gave me my first tattoo a couple months back and I keep coming back every time I get some extra money. Haven’t interacted with the other people much but I hear they’re chill. Definitely recommend this place to anyone if you want amazing art on your body.

Kitt always does a fantastic job on my tattoos. The establishment itself is a bit hidden, very clean and boasts reasonable prices. All my ink has healed wonderfully and color looks great. Go to mastodon and get some ink :)

Sean is brilliant!!! I’ve been here at least 5 times, every time I’ve seen him he’s never failed to give me a wonderful experience. Aside from his hospitality and humor this guy knows what he’s doing, and loves what he does. I just recently moved from the Bay Area in search for a good piercer and Sean’s the one! I’ve been to another shop here in Phoenix for a quick swap of jewelry and was HIGHLY, HIGHLY disappointed. A simple swap from a stud to a hoop and not only were they unsanitary, and sloppy but the guy hurt me. Guess who was there for the rescue, SEAN. If you’re looking for a long term piercing shop or looking to refer someone to a shop, let me tell you that you will NOT be let down by Sean :)

Mastodon Piercing and Tattoo was a wonderful experience. I mainly go here for Mary she does my tattoos (she’s freaking great btw) but I went to get my nose repierced and Shane did an amazing job. He was very friendly, professional and made me feel like I was at home. Very impressed with the service, prices and all around quality of this business!

So when was looking to repierce my nose. I got on Unilocal and can definitely say the reviews were correct! Sean is an amazing, and knowledgable piercer. He is through and really had great insight. It actually took longer to set up, then it took to pierce me. Pain free and quick! I would recommend him to anyone! I’ll be back for my targus piercing! Great shop! Thanks Sean!!!

Shane has done about half of my piercings (the other half done by Greg who used to work here) and they’ve always turned out well. He’s always very nice and thorough in explaining everything, what to expect, after care and is willing to answer even the dumbest of questions. After about 5 years of coming to this shop I don’t think I’ll ever go to another one in the valley!

THE place in metro Phoenix for piercings. Been going to the owner of the shop for over 15 years. Refer all my friends here. Clean, friendly and safe. Well priced as well. Even after years of going here I still get walked through choices of jewelry and after care. Shane is the most knowledgeable person on piercings period. Go check it out for yourself you’ll love it!

I discovered this place thanks to my fiancé. When I finally decided to get my nipples done, Shane was incredibly friendly and walked me through the whole process. I felt immediately better about the whole thing; you can just tell he knows his craft. My piercings turned out wonderful! Every experience since then has been nothing short of the best. My helix was pierced about 4 years ago and when I decided I need to change it up, Shane helped get the impossible ring out of my ear and set me up with a new one — one that actually worked for the piercing and wasn’t trying to squeeze my ear to death (the piercer that put the jewelry in originally had no idea what he was doing). If you are looking for a place to get pierced that is not only clean, professional, but also friendly, you found it! Any piercings in my future will be at Mastodon :) make sure to check out all their amazing jewelry options. They are also very accommodating with letting you order your own custom jewelry. My fiancé has a matching set for all his piercings, and Shane recently ordered a beautiful set of custom nipple rings for me that I adore.

Shane has done all but one of my piercings with great results. As far as piercers go, he is definitely one of the most honest and knowledgeable in the valley. The shop is always clean and Shane is always happy to talk piercings or just chat.
In addition to this, I’ve had all three of my current tattoos done there with similarly great results.

I was referred by a work colleague and a little apprehensive because I had waited years for to have this tattoo done. Brandon is the best artist I have worked with. Before I even talk about the skill level I want to mention something that helped me. I do really bad with the typical and gruff tattoo artist deameanor. It’s going to be on me forever so I want someone to partner with on the design etc. Brandon does that better than anyone I have met. He walks you through it, he does not shame you when there are tense areas instead he warns you that they are coming up. I could not have imagined a better experience.
Now to talk about the art. Everything about my tattoo is beautiful. the drawing was awesome, and it turned out perfectly. We collaborated throughout the process to make changes whenever necessary. I had three sessions and it looked great each time. I never had an ugly healing period. My healing was so fast. He took the limited information I gave and made it into something beyond my expectations. I don’t get through a day that someone does not grab my arm to see it closer (about that… weird strangers… don’t touch me).
I can’t wait till my next session…

The minute you walk in the shop was clean and the person in the front was very friendly. I got my nipples pierced by Shane and I will have to say its been my best experience with getting pierced hands down. He was professional, made you feel very comfortable and walked you thru the process. I would definitely recommend him and will be going back if I decide on any future piercings.

I am madly in love with this shop!
Over the last decade I have got almost ALL of my piercings done here and I will never go anywhere else as long as I live in this state!
It might look unassuming from the outside, but don’t let it fool you, their main piercer Shane is beyond professional and VERY knowledgeable about his craft. Not only that, but he genuinely listens to any concerns you might have, takes your personal taste into account in placement and really really cares about you loving your piercing and having a seamless healing time for any work you get done. After so many years in his profession it is easy to get jaded and just see customers as numbers not people. So it is so refreshing to find someone that still genuinely loves his job and customers.
This is the only place I send my friends for any work.

Awesome place! Had heard great things about it from friends who had work done and had to check it out. The staff was very friendly and the shop was full of personality and immaculate. I had Laney as my artists who was very cool and friendly with a very soft touch. Got a Mr. Lucky and it looks kick ass!
Also although its not my thing, they have a large piercing option and the piercer is a great guy, so need some piercings, check it out.

I have not gotten pierced here (I go to a different shop for that) but I got tattooed by Laney and she was awesome! The shop has a great vibe to it, the guys that were at the counter were so nice and friendly. They don’t have an atm in the shop so either bring cash ahead of time or there is a little market next door. I brought a picture of exactly what I wanted, Laney took her time to make sure the placement was perfect and then got started. She’s nice and easy to talk to, does a really good job of making sure it’s absolutely perfect. Defensively recommend her and the shop!

I cannot stress how much I loved going here yesterday. Shane is EXTREMELY amazing. I’m not new to getting piercings, and have been to some awesome shops
In the past. That being said, I’ve never felt so comfortable and so NOT rushed when I compare it to previous experiences. I came for a septum piercing. After feeling around, Shane let me know that he could do it, BUT warned me that I didnt have much of a sweet spot to work with. He let me know it may or may not lay a little wonky, or nick some cartilage. We talked for a good thirty minutes and not once did I feel like I needed to hurry. Again, I can’t stress how awesome this was.
At the end of the day I decided on a nostril piercing and I LOVE it. I’m already planning to get more and I will FOR SURE come back. Sean was also super cool. I’ve seen cheaper prices around town but honestly, you get what you pay for. I would much rather drive a little further and pay a little more to have the undivided attention and caring attitude that this shop has, than scrimp and have someone who is looking to get you in and out and isn’t as thorough. I can’t wait to go back!
