Hyatt Place Phoenix/Mesa

I have stayed here previously as well as this visit. The hotel is extremely well maintained and the rooms are set for comfort and relaxing. The bed was just the right amount of hard/​soft to give me a few really good hours of sleep. The breakfast provided was middle of the road, but was hot and fresh. A little slow this morning on the restocking so a bit of a wait. Was still in the room when housekeeping knocked in my door so I asked then to give me a few and then I was headed out. Came back 6 hours later and they never came back. Staff is very friendly and positive on a side note. A few more days here so I may update my review.

We’ve stayed at this property several times. My only issue is the bright colored LED type lights around the pool at night. Really annoying. If you are prone to headaches or seizures, don’t sit out there once it gets dark. The Arizona sky in the evening is so peaceful and gorgeous… those lights really don’t fit in.

Hotel is great. Extremely convenient location with a walmart literally within a 5 minute (tops) walk from the property. And let’s be honest what else would one need? I could, and do, get lost in Wal-​Mart for hours, only to realize it’s actually been several days. Anyway, my biggest and only issue, which I consider to be major, was the guy at the front desk. Upon check in there was some sort of clerical error in which my reservation wasn’t for another day but with a quick phone call this was able to be remedied. For whatever reason the dude immediately did not like me and I went to plug my phone in so I could call and fix the issue. P Unilocal well I was sitting there for all of 2 seconds the dude yells at me from across the lobby that sooner you need to make a decision. To make a long story short, for the rest of my stay anytime I would have run into him or need to ask him for something, he made it seem like I was a huge inconvenience and just had a rude attitude towards me for no reason. This was a huge turn off because he was the first point of contact and obviously left a negative impression for the entire stay. an even more embarrassing moment was how he acted this way in front of my friend/​co-​worker. It was enough to be rude in the first place, but you’re going to act like that towards me in front of my co-​worker? So, to summarize. Great hotel, location, room, everything, but that dude totally left a bitter taste when reflecting on the trip.

Very clean and the room was actually larger than expected. Front desk gentleman Raphael is very friendly and very helpful.

Staff is apathetic as best. WiFi was out the entire trip, no employees seem to care.
Also, AC unit is overly complex with Home/​Away/​Sleep mode, timers, and about a dozen buttons. Never did figure out how not to be freezing in my room.
Oh, and no complimentary bottle of water like most hotels these days. $ 2.50 for a bottle of Aquafina.
Overall, you can do better.

Fantastic friendly Service, the breakfast was great. Location is perfect for food and entertainment. Plenty of space. Cozy bed. Spacious sofa to relax on. Most importantly cool rooms, especially in the summer.
Downside is the cable reception is bad, the entertainment center has useless ports no hdmi port access and limited local channels. Not a deal breaker. But would have been nice to know.
Wifi access is good, strong and fast for work and business VPN.
The maid service is touch and go. Some days it’s great others it’s haphazard.
Having spent a month in their care, I can recommend for a good business travel spot when you come to Phx, Tempe, or Mesa.

I stayed here for four nights on business and it’s definitely one of the nicer hotels I’ve visited. The staff, especially the concierge, Nick, were fantastic: always willing to help, offering free shuttles, knowledge of the area and things to do after work. The room bore a pleasant ambiance, not killing you with fluorescent lighting, and contained ample outlets for whatever I needed to charge at night. There’s not much more you can ask from a hotel.

We stayed here on 11/​27/​2015 and really loved the place. Staff is super friendly and rooms are very very clean. Beds are very comfortable and breakfast is filling and freshly made. I would recommend this place to family’s looking for value and cleanliness. They have a good gym that I also took advantage of open ²⁴⁄₇. Great work people at Hyatt place. Keep it up!

This review is only in regards to today’s service. We LOVE this Hyatt Place and stay here every time we’re in town. But today we were met at the front desk by Joey. He could not find us in the system. We have been staying at THIS Hyatt Place for years, we’re in the system. We also had come here once before and was waited on by Joey who could not find us in the system then. He must have recognized the name because he became obviously nervous, offered us water, apologized with the wait, and ultimately after much fumbling, gave us drink vouchers. Maybe Joey needs some training?

We are always looking for the best deal on hotels because we love on a somewhat tight budget. I found the Hyatt on Expedia ($ 270 for 2 nights, King room– we had a discount price, it was listed for $ 340). Hotel was clean, quiet, centrally located, and had a great breakfast buffet (eggs, sausage, oatmeal, cereal, bagels, fruit, drinks). I really appreciated the free wifi and free parking it seems like hotels want to add fees for everything! Our room was on the second floor (room 203) which overlooked the pool, and there were a lot of families there. We didn’t hear a peep. I’ve rarely had no complaints about a hotel stay and the next time we come back to AZ we will book our stay here

The hotel was fairly new. The rooms were almost like a suite. There was a large TV in the middle of the room. The room uses all its space there is a large sitting area. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was not very tasty. Fruits were limited

Employees were very friendly and made you feel at home
We had especially good experiences with Britney and Ed.
Ed would help me each morning getting my day started. He would help me get my lunch ready for the day from the deli case. Sandwiches and salads were great
Britney would make us feel right at home each evening. Would pick me up from the class that I was taking, close by and would also take us to our dinner destination. She always had a smile and would always say «My Pleasure»
Breakfast consist of several great choices, I enjoyed the oatmeal bar each day.
Room was very spacious
Pool area was good
My only complaint would be the wifi
We had quite a bit of problems with that, but overall, love Hyatt Place and what it had to offer

Attractive, clean rooms. Cool pool with giant tv. Good price but probably some of the worst hotel food I have had. We had dinner there (no room service you have to walk downstairs to get it) and it was practical inedible. The Hyatt signature wine had a faint bile after flavor.
The breakfast was so bad that my hubby who will practically eat anything refused to eat more than a couple bites.
If it weren’t for the awful food it would be a four, four and a half stars.

Was impressed with the large room, cleanliness, wonderful and excellent quality of the breakfast and especially the customer service and staff at this location. It’s my second stay while visiting clients in Arizona. This time with the kids for work and vacation. Kids love the pool and breakfast and the room. I agreed.
Can’t beat their above excellence on the customer service and staff.

This was my first time staying at a Hyatt and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. This is also why I love Unilocal so much… the reviews are almost always accurate, so I knew that my stay will be just as expected!
First off, one of the best continental breakfasts I’ve ever had at a hotel. There’s everything for everyone with a very nice kitchen/​seating area. There’s oatmeal with 6 or so toppings to choose from, all kinds of cereal, a rotation of waffles, pancakes, and french toast, egg sandwiches, three or four juices to choose from, and bagels and such.
Secondly, an incredible staff that goes beyond and above to make sure your stay is perfect. My personal story that I just need to share — like the idiot I can be at times, I left my expensive camera/​camera bag on the lobby floor when I was checking in. Obviously, I didn’t realize that I was missing my camera until the second day, and after running around like a crazy person to our car and back to our room, I nervously came up to the front desk and asked if anyone found a camera from the day before. Not only did it not get stolen, the young man working at the front desk at that time, was incredibly happy to give it back to me and even said «I love seeing people’s reactions» after a situation similar to mine. I wish I had his name, but he was genially happy to give me my camera back and you have no idea how great that feels for once…
Nice location too… plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Spacious hotel, nice heated swimming pool and hot tub though we didn’t get a chance to check them out.
I would mostly definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Phoenix area.

I’m not sure if this is my first hotel review but this has to be one of my favorite hotels. I got humble roots so I am wow-​ed by the St. Regis’ Astor Suites and bored by the stuffiness of the Ritz Carltons. I sorta want a hotel to look like what I remember hotels to be: like a Howard Johnson’s from Mad Men sherbet scene but not so orange.
So this place looks like what I conceive a hotel to be but for some reason, the rooms are ABSURDLY spacious. It’s like a suite at the Venetian, probably bigger but with a bunch of space, designated work desks, designated sitting area, and a nice designated area shielded away for the bed. And a generic shower & bathroom designed for utility alone. It was absolutely not what I was expecting.
The place is super clean too. Check-​in and check-​out, a breeze. The flat screens by the elevators had some satisfaction guarantee thing going on with an agenda to be the best Hyatt Place in America or whatever… I’m not sure how it stacks up with other Hyatt Places but if all Hyatt Places are created equal then I’m switching my SPG allegiances.
Stay here in Arizona, it’s a 5 min drive away from the big cities and it is a solid, solid hotel.

Pros:
The grounds of this place are nice. The pool is heated. The putting green is a nice touch. The rooms are decently sized, and the cleaning staff was very friendly/​hardworking.
Cons:
The lights by the pool at night extremely obnoxious. It is very peaceful to sit out by the pool at night, however the lights make me feel like I’m at a rave. It rotates from blue to green to red to pink! So annoying. The staff is pretty rude about it, too. When we asked about it the girl said that it added «ambiance» ha! If I wanted to sit by a pool and have lights flashing all around me, I would get a room in Vegas or Old Town!
It got so bad that we had to leave the pool and go hang out in the room, which is a major buzzkill when it’s 75 and perfect outside!
This isn’t the Hyatt Bar and Nightclub, it’s Hyatt Place. Wake up!

This hotel is the kind where after staying, you are looking for an excuse to come back and stay again.
Quality, quality, quality, quality. That about sums up this hotel. You wonder why it has such a high Unilocal and TripAdvisor rating? Because this hotel is that good. The moment you walk in the door to the lobby you can tell.

From the first moment we checked in to when we left, every person on staff was friendly, acknowledged us, and was helpful. Everyone smiled and said hello. Everyone. The front desk, the breakfast ladies, the housekeeping staff – all smiled and said a greeting. What? You LIKE working here?

The Hyatt is located right next to/​is part of the Mesa Riverview Park shopping open air complex. Department stores, lots of restaurants, Walmart, Bass Pro Shop, professional services, specialty shops – you’re all set. Even though the Hyatt is part of the complex, you would never know in the hotel that you were.
This Hyatt is also close to several attractions. We personally went to Papago Park which has the Phoenix Zoo, The Desert Botanical Gardens, Papago Golf Course, the Municipal Park for the Oakland A’s training. This is a 15 minute drive or less from the hotel. 15 to 20 minutes away is Piestewa Peak, great for a vigorous hike with great sights of the city. And there are more. This is a nice home base location for Phoenix, Mesa, Tempe, and Scottsdale.
Facilities: 5 stars
The lobby is comfortable. There is a two computer workplace. Wifi is free with a clear and strong signal. 9 hole putting green. Exercise room. Swimming pool and jacuzzi. There is a handicapped assist lift for the pool and the jacuzzi. Plush towels for the pool. Others said there is a TV there, but I did not check that out.
There is a bar that is open all night where you can also order food. There is no room service, but you can order and pick it up. Alas, they do not have trays to carry your food back to your room so it is a juggling act or have others help carry it to the room. The menu is nice, though, and reasonably priced for hotels.
The halls are not narrow. Exit signs posted at crawl level in case of fire. Two elevators reduce waiting time.
Free Breakfast: 4+ stars
Hot skillet items. A type of egg on a muffin with different varieties each day. With basil or cheese or onion, or bell pepper or ham, etc. Actually tasty and not like an Egg McMuffin, thank goodness. Also alternating with pancakes or French toast. Plenty of drinks, cereals, tasty pastries, bread, muffins, oatmeal, fruit.
The breakfast area was really nice. Like a restaurant, not like an after-​thought space or room like most hotels serve their breakfasts in. The dishes were all plastic, but designed to look like glass and porcelain so it still looked classy without the breakage safety issues. All the utensils were heavy duty, nothing cheap.
Rooms: 5 stars
We had a corner room with a King size bed. It had a living area built-​in with a sleeper sofa, a love seat, and an ottoman. A nice 47″ LCD LD flat screen TV with remote. This was mounted on a station so that you could plug in your own device (Bluray player, laptop, etc.) with an HDMI cable, 15-​pin video cable, RCA cables, miniplug audio cables, and power. Easy switches, too. Really nice. Bring your favorite gaming platform and go for it.
All of the doors, the room door and the closet door were impressively thick and heavy. The walls must have been well insulated and thick because we heard nothing from anyone or anything at all during our three-​day stay.
The beds were comfortable and gave a good night sleep. The room temperature was controlled by a thermostat.
There was free coffee and tea. A refrigerator. No microwave, you would have to use the one down at the bar. Drawers for your clothes was next to the refrigerator and was below the counter space where the coffee maker was. There were only three drawers. We managed, but it would be nicer if there were more drawers in the room.
The bathroom was nice and not cramped with enough space. The towels were full sized, but not the most plush I’ve ever experienced at a hotel. Plenty of hot water, was never an issue. Nice enough shower head and a curved curtain rod to give more room. Quality complimentary shampoos, conditioners, soaps, lotions, etc.
The room had two windows, which made for nice daytime light and a good view.
Very comfortable and enjoyable room.
Price: 5 stars
The price was a steal. Especially since this is the busy season for Arizona. Could not believe the price I got on this through their website.
, Expedia, etc. all had the same price as they. The rate was the same for this 3 star category hotel as it was for a 2 star hotel.
