Howard Johnson Mesa Gilbert

This is by far the WORST hotel I’ve ever stayed in. There were stains on the carpet and burn spots all over the blankets and I the bathroom. I was bitten over 10 times by BEDBUGS. There were stains on the sink which is absolutely disgusting. Trash was on the table as soon as you walk in and one of the beds weren’t made. This place needs to be shut down not today, but yesterday. If I could give them a negative 5 stars, I would. Do not stay here.

I guess the best I can say is that I didn’t get murdered in my sleep while staying here. Other than that there is not much positive to review. My room had only two towels for us, and when the call finally was answered by the front desk we were informed that there were no additional towels available. So after a disappointing cold shower I tried to sleep using only the one flat sheet provided on the bed. Also, no additional blankets available, which is probably good based on the number of cigarette burns on the top cover. After waking, thankfully not murdered by one of the other screaming and smoking hotel guests, I thought the complimentary breakfast would help. Unfortunately the one plate of muffins put out was already taken by the long term residents by the time I got there. I would suggest going to another hotel, sleeping in your car, or finding an overpass to spend the night under. Thankfully I didn’t have a black light so I couldn’t see what I only assume looked like a Jackson Pollock painting on every surface of the room.

this place sucks! the city needs to shut it down! there is no breakfast! no towels avail after 4pm! holes in the bath walls and door! missing light bulbs! no cable! police in the parking lot constantly! staff rude! no phone in the room! no microwave! they totally lie on the website! Broken chair in my room! refrigerator is the only thing offered that was there! and it was loud! Tables had cig. burns! as did the bath tub! wow. never ever again!

FRAUD ALERT. I stayed at this Howard Johnson’s Dec 2015 and paid with my credit card. Two days later an unauthorized withdraw was made for $ 150. Then 4 more unauthorized withdraws. So far a total of $ 589 was stolen from me. Avoid this hotel. Besides the rooms are dirty. There are Much better places to stay in the area, and they won’t rip you off.

Worst hotel I stayed at since the apocalypse. Stained burlap towles. Pepsi on phone and side table. Light socket hanging from socket.

The toilet doesn’t work because the water leaks so the valve has to be shut off. What does the office do? They give you a trash can to use to fill with water to pour into the toilet to flush. We already knew to do that people! So glad it’s one night!

The location wasn’t the best for me, yet for the price it is what I expected to receive.
The reason I am taking the time to post a review is simple… the staff!
These amazing people have so much to endure here, yet they deal with every customer with a smile and did above and beyond to meet my needs. The housekeepers work hard and catered to my every need/​desire.
The front desk staff are the BEST in my opinion. Like I said, considering what they have to deal with, it never went from one guest and then on to me, when I approached the counter it was like a new chapter for them in building a lasting relationship. That is a very hard trait to find nowadays. They have a difficult job, yet never stopped impressing me over and over.
Josi and Ray, along with the keepers, among all, were the best!!!
I didn’t have any ‘real’ issues to speak of at all… just that whenever I had a question, they always had an answer or a possible solution for us.
I can say to everyone here on Unilocal,that I would recommend, for the price point, to stay HERE! Tell them Jason from Hawaii said so!

If I could have given the Mesa az Howard johnson a –5 stars I would have. I lack the vocabulary to adequately express my disgust with this place without using profanity… I apologize but this place is a complete $&-! Hole.
The toilet overflowed overnight so we asked it to be taken care of durning the day when we were gone. We came home that night to a bunch of our stuff soaking wet including one my wives favorite blankets. These guys are complete clowns. Avoid it at all costs.

We reserved @ 9 am, requesting 4 pillows on King bed & were unable to accommodate @ 6 pm (stating housekeeping has left). John, the night manager is useless… hotel needs serious updating, stay @ the Days Inn (right down the road)

Howard Johnson is affordable with great specials like the 3 nights & weeklys with fast free wifi speed also plenty of parking for the rv’s or big rigs trucks & the staff is very friendly also close to the shopping centers on main st there’s a food city, 99 cent store, and the famous mexican food such as filibertos & casa ramos also next to the fwys gotta luv it so come check it out at the Howard Johnson.

This place was great to stay at and Marci is amazing. She is the only reason this place got an extra star. But look out for house cleaning. They are THIEVES! We cancelled our second room the 2^nd night so it was cheaper and I forgot some explicit adult stuff in my drawer and the house keepers stole it! That’s so unprofessional not to mention absolutely disgusting. Make sure you lock your stuff up or request no one go in your room.

Had called for early checkin. Room was not ready. Got to the room, had no lights, no remote for tv, 1 towel. Asked for manager, there was none. Asked for owner, not available. The people that worked there, were not very helpful. I would not let my dog stay there. This was the worst hotel I have stayed at.

BED BUGS BEWARE! I stayed at this motel for four nights on a work related trip, the first two nights I was bit by bed bugs on my entire body. I went to the doctors and they diagnosed it as definitely bed bug bites. I then notified the Maricopa health department and filed a complaint, they then sent an inspector to the room I indicated on my complaint the inspector notified me and said she found bed bugs in the box spring and under the bed on the floor along with droppings on the bed sheets. I dont recommend this motel to anyone that at all cares about hygiene. THIS MOTEL IS DISGUSTING! !

Combination of location, price, and recent clean bedbug inspection (call me paranoid) led to this reservation. UGH.
Air conditioner doesn’t really work. Light doesn’t work. Bedding is stiff and pillows are flat. Whatev, it’s a cheap hotel. It has a continental breakfast and a pool, not really expecting the Hilton here.
The beds, however? TERRIBLE. I literally got out of bed the second night and migrated to the floor. It was more comfortable on the floor than the bed. Yeah… I won’t be staying here again.

Checked into our rooms, checked out 20 minutes later. This was probably the worst hotel I’ve even been in. The room smelled like a nasty dive bar, there were cigarette burns on the tables and bathtub, white stains on the carpet, unchanged pillow cases that smelled like dirty hair and, from what it looked like, blood stains on the comforter. My throat seriously started hurting as soon as I walked into the room. After discovering all of this we immediately went to the office to get a refund. The person working refunded us in full without even asking a question. He definitely must have known and he kinda gave off the attitude of why it took us so long to ask for a refund. NEVER stay here!

I stayed in the hotel on March 1^st, 2013. We experienced the following:
–No Toilet seat… yes no toilet seat
–No Smoke Detector (torn off wall)
–Crumbs along the bead of the mattresses
–Vomitous material along wall (which spread to top of mattress when sheet was removed
–Broken box spring
–Dirt/​hair/​etc. on bathroom floor
We had mechanical problems with our motorcycles and were forced to stay in the area and all hotels in the area were sold out. We complained to the front desk but they stated there was nothing they could do. After 3 messages left and 6 weeks the manager finally contacted me when I froze the payment from American Express. He offered a $ 25 discount off a $ 100 charge. He chuckled when he heard of the issues we encountered. Photos were taken of everything described, but he didn’t care enough to ask for copies.
We stayed at 8 motels during our trip from California to Florida, and hands down this was the absolute most disgusting. If at all possible, DON’T STAY HERE!
