Find a Professional Tax Preparer at H&R Block, the brand clients trust for income tax preparation. More than 50 years of tax help and expertise is just around the corner.
I’ve been to this location three years in a row, each time has been a decent experience. The most recent one was the hardest, Lisa S, and Carol K are phenomenal at preparing taxes, complicated or not, they both are able to bang them out in relatively decent time, although I suggest dropping your tax info off and setting an appointment later. The receptionist are hit and miss, I showed up for my appointment arranged for the prior year to have Lisa S handle them, I even confirmed the appointment by phone. When I show up, I’m asked if I want something to drink, have a seat, yadda, yadda. The receptionist wanders around like a lost puppy, I then put two and two together — Lisa wasn’t there, and the staff had no clue where she was, fast forward five minutes, and the young lady comes back to tell me Lisa called off sick. Okay, I get it, illness happens, so I leave my taxes for Lisa S to do and schedule a follow up appointment with the receptionist for a week later with Lisa S(10 days prior to the April 15th deadline). I get a call from H&R block 800 number confirming the appointment the day prior, and then miss a call from the office 6 hours prior to the appointment, no VM, no repeat call. I try calling but the number is busy,(I get it, it’s tax time, calling a tax preparer within ten days to the deadline will probably result in such). I call back an hour to the appointment, and the receptionist says ohh yeah, she’s sick and won’t make the appointment. Now I’m not a dick, usually, but I’m wondering why no voice mail to let me know this. I explain the days I can’t come and ask what days can I meet with Lisa, the receptionist then tells me the exact days I just told her I can’t make! Long story I’m like screw it, I’ll go across the street and get them done at the other H&R Block(yes, there’s literally another H&R branch across the street — 323 East Brown). When I show up to get my paperwork, fortunately another tax preparer Carol K. was willing to help me. I ended up setting an appointment with her and she was able to finish my tax forms(Lisa had done the majority already). Again, I highly recommend this branch, and both Lisa S or Carol K, they’re able to do even the most tedious tax preparations for Business or Personal. Please don’t fault Lisa S from my review,(Lisa S maintained a full schedule during the time I dealt with my taxes — just not on the days I could make it) I added her information in here to show my concern/frustration with the receptionist, there are three of them that I dealt with and the youngest hispanic female was the reason for my angst, all other staff were professional and courteous, and in the defense of the young lady, at her age I wouldn’t even been able to that job.
